I was wondering is there a way to cap off of what era the civs in your game can get to? i know you can choose what one they start but there seems to be no cap for where to stop. is there a way to do this? and how?

A method would be to edit all of the tech costs for techs beyond that period to by obscenely expensive. The AI wouldn't be able to cope though.

Jeckel made a ModComp that let's you cut off the tech eras.
I guess jdogg5000 also made one:http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=287940

You could also just set the bDisable tag to 1 for any tech you don't want...

So, once you reach the end and tech is no longer available, does the AI stop spending on research, or just the human player?
