View Full Version : History Department Leader Needed!
Chieftess Sep 10, 2002, 08:12 AM Daaraa has sent me a pm stating his retirement:
Re: history department
Dear Chieftess,
I am afraid I will have to resign my position as Statistical History updator effective immediatly.
Some personal problems have surfaced that I will need to take care of and consequently I will not have the time to devote to this function let alone much time to the Civ 3 Demo game.
I apologize for the abrupt departure and I hope that whomever replaces me will live up to the office's expectations.
The History Department collects vital stats of the game. It's not an 'official' department like elected ones, but is more of a volunteer posistion. You can find the history posts in the Turn Chat/History Index thread.
Requirements:
After every game, assess the game data, and enter it into the next post. Use the previous post as a template.
Now Accepting Volunteers
disorganizer Sep 10, 2002, 09:01 AM Well, in fact it is the "head of statistics office" you need someone for ;-)
btw: this positions comes with a 20gold/tc additional payment if you dont own another office-head or equal position.
Octavian X Sep 10, 2002, 01:33 PM I would volunteer for the posisiton, at least for a little bit.
brownbomber Sep 10, 2002, 04:36 PM I'll volenteer , I 'll do a grand job
Ehecatl Atzin Sep 11, 2002, 04:44 PM Hmmmm...just a sugestion. It should be the Historical Statistics Department, not the History Department (this one has a leader, me :) ) I'm just waiting for the discovery of writting to, well, start writting it. Whe are, after all, in the prehistoric era.
Ehecatl Atzin
Octavian X Sep 11, 2002, 07:32 PM Well, brownbomber, if you want the job, you can have it. Please reply here soon so I know if I should start work on this or not.
Toasty Sep 11, 2002, 08:18 PM I'd be honored to take such a position if I may
Chieftess Sep 11, 2002, 08:35 PM Ok, I'll pick Ehecatl Atzin.
I wonder, does this need a council vote too? :)
Octavian X Sep 11, 2002, 10:41 PM Even though I'm very sarcastic, I can never tell if someone in these forums is being sarcastic...
No, no council vote needed.
Great Iguanaman Sep 15, 2002, 06:02 PM where is all the history, i want to be able to see the history with the drop of a hat. Pretty much, the historian should have a non-discussion thread that says what happend every turn chat. Also, i think the historian should be required to be at every turn chat so he can accurately record information and he can be there for us to reference him.
The Great Iguanaman
Chieftess Sep 15, 2002, 08:18 PM It's in the main demogame forum, under Turn Chat/Historical Stats index. Just don't post in there - it's not a discussion thread.
Octavian X Sep 15, 2002, 08:26 PM I think the historical stat dept. would work better as it's own forum, rather than editing the same post over and over again. This way, we can view stats from long ago.
Great Iguanaman Sep 15, 2002, 08:57 PM Chieftess has all the answers. Maybe thats why shes the president. I salute you Mrs. President, for once again, youve have show'd me the error of my ways.
The Great Iguanaman
Ehecatl Atzin Sep 17, 2002, 11:19 AM Um, History is not a list of statictics. therefore I shall not use them. The work Daaraa used to do (statistics department) is still open as far as I can tell.
I could start writting our history as of today but I wanted to wait until the discovery of writting or at least alphabet as to make it more "real life" sorts. After all, we have no history before writting, just arrow points and cave paintings, pottery and the sort (the era known as prehistory).
So, having said that, if anyone wants to record statistics, the position is, acording to me, still open.

Daaraa was never very active during the game, but the history department was the only thing that ran smoothly the whole demogame!
Octavian X Sep 17, 2002, 08:27 PM I like EA's idea of a more 'living' history. It will add a whole lot of flavor to the game. Maybe you can even submit them to TF for posting on the main CFC page.
So, the statistics office remains open. Are there still any takers? If not, my application still stands.
Great Iguanaman Sep 17, 2002, 08:39 PM I would love to take a stab at this job. Just give me my job outlines and i will glady get to work.

Great Iguanaman Sep 17, 2002, 08:49 PM Thats alot of stuff, but as long as all information will be available to me somehow, i would love the job. Also, what is the official job title and how do i change mine?
The Great Iguanaman
Octavian X Sep 17, 2002, 08:55 PM You will have to gather the info from the most recent save.
After you've been a member at CFC for 10 days and have 10 posts, you can go to the profile tab under the User CP to change your title. This isn't an official elected position. Daaraa did this all through all five terms of the last demogame.
Great Iguanaman Sep 17, 2002, 08:59 PM okay.... well im not too sure i want this job that much, but i will think about and get back to you, but keep my application on file.
The Great Iguanaman
Octavian X Sep 17, 2002, 09:02 PM I'm not running this. I invite all who want this job to apply. I will only take it if no one else wants to.
Great Iguanaman Sep 17, 2002, 09:08 PM whos running it, CT?
The Great Iguanaman
Chieftess Sep 17, 2002, 09:14 PM About halfway up this thread, I said Ehecatl Atzin.
Octavian X Sep 17, 2002, 09:31 PM EA wasn't interested in the statistical aspect. He was looking at a written, 'ficticious' account of our histroy. See his history thread in the Gov't subforum.
Great Iguanaman Sep 17, 2002, 09:37 PM well i will be happy to take the job if EA doesnt what the ACTUAL aspect of it.
The Great Iguanaman
Ehecatl Atzin Sep 18, 2002, 12:58 AM Well, it will be actual in the sence that what ever hapens in the demo game will be taken into acount, I just won't do the sort of work Daaraa did, placing statistics and the sort. I'm just not interested in that, but the Historical Statistics Department could be a branch of the History Department. I could take the study, analizing part of it and Great Iguanaman, for example, the statistics part.
Ehecatl Atzin
Waterz Sep 23, 2002, 04:59 AM Well, could i be like an assistant to you then?
Ehecatl Atzin Sep 23, 2002, 04:36 PM @ Waterz -- Octavian X is already in charge of the Statistics department, but all hands are welcomed. Please post in the History Department (government forum) as to what you'd be willing to do :)
