I'm looking for a tool which allows you to customize worker improvements. When I use the "emphasize" commerce button I still find that my workers will build 50% farms when I already have excess food. Likewise, when I "emphasize" food I find that my workers keep building cottages! I don't want to continue shift + clicking every worker in every city.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Moved to the main forum. The subforums are intended for finished files, whereas this forum is for questions.

Welcome to CFC! :)

Its in the Civ4 Creation & Customization forum. (Scroll down past all of the topics and you'll see it.)

I still don't understand why the thread was moved? Anyways, can anyone help me out?

The modpacks forum is for finished files only; not questions. (As Ginger Ale said.)

I don't think that there is a tool out there like this, but it would make a cool modcomp to make using workers smarter yet less tedious to manage. I think there would be a lot of coding to be done, though.

Why don't you just take the effort to manage your workers yourself? I should point out that the buttons on the city screen do nothing to the workers outside the city; only the tiles worked.

I don't understand? What do you mean? Why do you think this? Why does your post not address my original question? Isn't there a rule that stats people cannot troll?

It's not really trolling. Trolling is more insulting people, trying to pick a fight.
I'm just saying that it seems far better to manage your own workers than let the AI (which isn't too bright) manage them for you.

Now, i doubt there is such a mod or modcomp because it is far easier to manage your own workers than go to the trouble of coding more control over their automations.

Why are you being so defensive? Rather than looking for some hack that plays the game for you, maybe you should just learn how to do things yourself. And listening to people who are trying to give you advice instead of jumping down their throats right away would be a good place to start. You're not going to find a mod that deals only with Worker routines. In order to make those changes someone would have to do extensive changes to the overall AI in the game, not just that one small area. Maybe you should look up the Better AI mod.

The only solution is to stop automating workers. I'm sorry if that's not the answer you're looking for. There is no way to make automation work well, aside from the improvements in the Better AI mod, which is a good thing to get in any case. You will never do well at this game as long as you're automating workers.

I don't want to continue shift + clicking every worker in every city.

Anyone shift clicking worker commands is obviously doing things themselves. When I'm playing Emperor, albeit on marathon speed, I get very sick of micromanaging 20 and 30 city empires. I was simply asking for a tool which would help expedite things. What if I am using a HE and transitioning every tile to a workshop? I might have to improve over 150 tiles!

And listening to people who are trying to give you advice

I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused again. I was asking for a worker tool or mod. Where did I ever write, at any point, I am a clueless noob that only automates workers, I have no idea what I am doing so please, can someone show me where a worker tool is so I don't have to learn how to play the game on my own. I have been following these forums for about 5 years but never really wanted to join in the discussion because I see stuff like this happen to new people all the time. It's very sad.

I'm betting everyone who has been so rude to me so far is a BOY, and single to boot.

For those people who automatically assume someone asking for a tool is clueless and automates workers tisk tisk. Learn to read.

You will never do well at this game as long as you're automating workers.

I am no expert but I have beaten the game on Immortal with pure settings using random leaders. If your some Deity player good for you. I see new people looking to have a few questions asked only receive flaming responses? Please stop trolling and responding to me if you don't know where I can get a worker tool. If there isn't one available a simple answer like,

Welcome to the Formums Norzin! I'm sorry but no such tool exist. Good luck!

I also use BUG mod which does the following,

There is a GPP bar, GG bar, a log box showing the gold AIs have for trade, lower right part of the screen you see leaders names and numbers/decimals showing my power rating vs there power rating, on the lower screen you can also see when an AI declares WHEEOHRN on you seen by a fist which is extremely helpful, there are whip overflow suggestions, happiness and culture pops, an event log!,

One of the main points of this mod is to reduce micro management and make the game easier to play. Then again, what am I thinking, I must be the biggest noob in the world for using the BUG mod. I should just learn to manually click every single screen 100x more to get the same information, duh!

I think people are saying that there is no tool like this; it would be very difficult to code (if possible.)

I don't think Mechaerik was trolling, and Willem was just backing that up. Some things can be read the wrong way, so not everything you find offensive is trolling. furthermore, calling everyone else here a single, rude little boy is what I'd call trolling.

rude little boy is what I'd call trolling.

I've heard it all now. A girl reaches her hand out for help regarding a tool but only gets preemptive and rude responses back from people who apparently didn't even read her original thread. She justly defends herself in her own thread from people leaving comments off topic, yet I am a troll? Are those boys your friends? Did they message you to get there back? Pick on the new girl simply asking for help eh? Real big of everyone. I hope your proud of yourselves.

If you can't post without being rude and insulting to the people who reply to your threads, then don't expect any help here. You're on your own.

Are you serious?!?! I have said twice that this tool doesn't exist! Its not like we're ganging up on you because you're a girl, or that I'm friends with the other two. (Although they are very nice as long as you don't accuse them of trolling!)

I was the first one to respond to this thread, and I said there likely isn't anything like this, but I though it might be an okay idea. This thread has turned ugly really fast, and I hope a mod will close this up.

One of the main points of this mod is to reduce micro management and make the game easier to play.I love B.U.G. also. I found it when playing RevolutionDCM. I continue to use RevolutionDCM but turn off parts- mostly just use it for IDW and B.U.G.

Welcome to the fora, Norzin! I'm sorry but no such tool exist. Good luck!

Oh, and if you find a mod that does what you are looking for or one that makes cities have set boundaries, ala Civ 2, I'd be interested in that. :)

There was a mod released as and extension to the "Rise of Mankind" mod which has the best of both worlds when it comes to cultural boarders. They expand and then stop expanding when you reach a certian tech combination. You can also capture individual plots, land or sea, from your enemies. dexy's Fixed borders mod for Rise of Mankind (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=308404), It is an SDK mod so I am not sure how easily mergable it is into other mods.

@Norzin On the original post question - I too would like something which allowed finer tuning of worker actions since once you get more than 20 in a huge empire it becomes too time consuming to control each one. It is also annoying that the default action for a worker is not working a resource so that it is available and in some cases they seem to get into a loop - destroying the mine on copper for example with a cottage then building the mine then the cottage..... However I have not seen anyone work on improving this particular aspect of the AI.

This, plus IDW, is putting me closer to what I want in the game. :)
