Can any body tell me how to apply gloss maps with the material editor in 3ds max. All the unit modifications I have done with Max have been to more modern units without gloss so I've only ever had to mess with a single texture at a time. I am trying to do some simple modifications to an ancient unit from the database and I would like to keep the current shininess of the armor. It uses a gloss map and an environment_fx_greymetal dds. No matter how I load up and apply the bitmaps in the editor the armor doesn't come out shiny. I made the Entire model shiny once, but thats as close as I've come.
Can anybody walk me through that process? All the tutorials I've dug up are rather vague in some areas, especially if your new to graphics programs. Thanks in advance!

I think since Max is so expensive, most people here use Blender rather than Max. This must be why you're not getting any responses. Maybe PM someone who does use it (I think SeZereth does, but I'm not sure. Deon might know as well, just ask around. ;) )

Yeah thats totally what I did. I dont even know where to but it. 30 day eval trials is what I'm using.

Thanks for the tip. Blender also sounds easier to use from what Ive read. Yet after 3 complete reinstalls and all the necessary scripts/pythons/plugins, it still refuses to import models.
