This was made in 1950 in the Soviet Union, decrying the lack of political realities in the United States.

The four pictures are Freedom of the Press, depicted as Randolph Hearst spreading lies and yellow journalism, Freedom of Thought is a judge sentencing someone for possessing Communist beliefs, Personal Freedom is the lyching of a black man by the KKK, and Freedom of Assembly is riot control.

Fun trivia: a brother of one of the artists who drew the cartoon was accused of espionage and was executed in 1940. The artist himself (Boris Efimov) lived a long life and died a year ago at the age of 108.

And if we are posting Soviet art...

I don't get the 9/11 one. could someone explain?

If my interpretation is correct the cartoon claims that the deads from the 9/11 terror attack justify torture.

No, it's not, though it may be meant to be ironic (as in advocating we should remove this rule now via absurdity) - if not, it's just dead wrong. There was specific mention in the Constitution for citizens at the time the United States became a nation - that proviso only applies afterwards.

But they got off to an incredibly slow start. For the first few days after the Iranian election, it was obvious to a lot of people that something big was happening in Iran, but you would never have known it from watching cable news.

Oh, and the EU will have some sort of president if the treaty of Lissabon becomes ratified. He is depicted as Napoleon who grabs out for Great Britain. And as a war criminal... Probably some sort of Afghanistan war protest.
