View Full Version : Screenshots for marketing purposes

I could use some Planetfall screenshots for marketing purposes. Unfortunately my computer is ancient and in simply unable to do some graphical stuff like display shadows on terrain or let features adjust to terrain height. I also can't use any of the screenshots you have already posted, because those were meant ro show me a problem - not exactly good for marketing purposes. ;)

So that's why I'm asking if you guys could post your interesting screenshots here which show off Planetfall. :D

***

Could someone please make a screenshot (with highest graphical settings and single unit graphics turned on) of:

See last few posts for new requests.

To create a consistent look:
- These units should be placed in the center of a 3*3 Flat Moist bunch of plots. Or shelf in case of naval units.
- The terrain grid and terrain yield view should be turned off (Ctrl-T & Ctrl-Y)
- Single Unit Graphics should be turned on.
- Fully zoomed in, so the HP and faction flag disappears.
- In bmp or png format.

If you don't want to upload the whole image (which is rather large in size), you can cut off parts. I only need the unit itself with some terrain around it.
These screenshots are for button creation.

There's no end date. They're for use in various announcements and the first post of the download thread & main thread in the mod forum.

Fortunately! - otherwise I still hadn't succeeded in making spawning spots unable to spawn adjacent to each other!

By the way, another request if you feel like making screenshots: could you please go into the worldbuilder, make patches of 3 by 3 plots of the same terrain with nothing of them, and make a screenshot of it? Then I could make good looking terrain buttons for the Datalinks.

Terrain types:

Flat Arid
Rocky Arid
Flat Moist
Rocky Moist
Flat Rainy
Rocky Rainy
Flat Polar
Rocky Polar
Shelf
Ocean
Trench

The Flamethrower
The Unity Rover

These units should be placed in the center of a 3*3 Flat Moist bunch of plots, to create a consistent look. It's for button creation.

Edit: Also useful would be a screenshot of the

Unity Foil &
Transport Foil

placed on a 3*3 square of Shelf terrain.

Your Cruiser and Rover screenshots indicate you're playing unpatched, or at least not with the latest patch by the way. What link did you follow to download Planetfall, which ended up in you only downloading the main file?

Right you are.. I guess I had downloaded awhile ago and not had time to try it out until lately. Well here's a few unit shots from the current patch including Flamethrower.

BTW, the Fury Road mod has a nice resource animation of mutant 2-headed cows that could be a good graphic for Rare Moist DNA ;)

Planetfall v9 has been released (usual download link (http://www.gamingvault.net/index.php?automodule=downloads&req=cat&cmd=viewcat&cat_id=66) - you need both the main file and a patch already), but I don't want to make a big fuss about it without some marketing screenshots of the new unit art. Could someone please read the explanation in this post (http://www.gamingvault.net/index.php?s=&showtopic=11801&view=findpost&p=36117) and make some screenshots? :D

Thanks! I'll use them together with the new version announcement. To be useful for button creation purposes though, I'd need those unit shots with the terrain grid turned OFF. (Ctrl-T) I'm sorry I did not specify this.
(And with single unit graphics, but that you already have)

I hate to ask this, but would you be willing to redo them? :-s
More specifically, the Carrier, Behemoth, Mass Driver, Plasma Thrower and Walker.

While examining your sample screenshots, the idea to disable the grid crossed my mind...but when I loaded the save it was gone, I'm just to used to the grid when playing ;)

Thanks!

Because of your screenshots, I noticed that for some units (such as the cruiser and transport) the incorrect graphics show up if you're playing with animations turned off. It'll require some moving around of files to fix this. For that reason I think I'll upload a new version 10 tomorrow.

Drop Trooper on Flat Moist. You didn't specify a format so I picked .png since it's lossless. If you have an idea how much picture you actually need, it'd save space on the uploads.

A square of flat moist terrain around the button is enough. Eg look at the Behemoth button. A somewhat bigger square than on the buttons is preferable (better safe than sorry) but the whole screen is not necessary.

Could someone please make a screenshot of the Cloudbase?

I have attached an archive. Could you please put in your Planetfall folder and unzip it? It contains some files which will make the Cloudbase look sharper. Might make for a better button. (Or not, if the detail is lost again in the resizing, but no harm in trying)

Then load my save, open worldbuilder. In the upper left part of the map I have placed a barbarian cloudbase. Please rotate the camera 45° to the right and take a screenshot. Something like I attached, but with better graphics quality. ;)

Partisan unit
Bunker unit
Bunker improvement

Additional notes:
Turn the camera 45° to the right
The Partisan is animated: take a screenshot of the Partisan when the guy is looking in the direction of the camera.

If anyone could make screenshots of the Rotor and Sea Borehole, that would be great!Whoops... this posted was a while ago, missed it! Anyway, here you go! :)

(I took the freedom to rotate the camera for the borehole shot for less than 45°, because the struts have the same angle, so it looked a bit silly - if that's not okay, I'll take another one.)

GeoModder

That's solvable I think. Link the the railroad bridge instead of the stone bridges, and link to an empty nif for the little mooring poles for those spots where the magtube doesn't cross the river.

By the way, a further marketing suggestion: could you please also add the images you post here to your image gallery? That will make them randomly appear on the images you see at the bottom of the main CFC forum page. IIRC there's a 10 MB limit to one's image gallery, so I couldn't possibly add them all myself.
