View Full Version : City Placement #3
FionnMcCumhall Sep 16, 2002, 03:04 AM Pretty soon we will get our next settler unit from the great city of Valhalla. Some of the numbers were left over from the city placement II thread located here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31969)
Please select either 1, 2, or 3. This poll will remain open until quorum has reached or until the next turn chat whichever is first

Shaitan Sep 16, 2002, 03:18 AM They're all very nice spots but I'm going with #1. A cow plus 2 game, nicely productive woods and hills. The only way it could be more ideal would be if it was on a river. #1 all the way!
disorganizer Sep 16, 2002, 04:28 AM where are the other proposal out of the thread?
this poll is partial in excluding some of the proposed positions (i talk of donsigs proposal nw of the cow for example).
i request judicacy to close the poll and you to restart a complete poll with all proposal brought up, as no conclusion to only those 3 was found in discussion.
FionnMcCumhall Sep 16, 2002, 01:27 PM I added the Other button in the poll for other places i may have forgotten or that other may want to place the city. Is that so wrong!
Shaitan Sep 16, 2002, 01:32 PM I added an "abstain" option.
FionnMcCumhall Sep 16, 2002, 01:34 PM guess i forgot abou that option hehe
Cyc Sep 16, 2002, 02:37 PM I voted other. I think 4 tiles SW of Valhalla (1 tile NW of the cattle) will be a better spot.
disorganizer Sep 16, 2002, 02:42 PM Fionn: yes it is. This makes this poll unfair against the option(s) which fall under "other" as they are not presented ;-)
donsig Sep 16, 2002, 03:53 PM What to vote? Other (for 1 tile NW of the cow) or no vote at all in the hopes this poll won't reach quorum and can be thrown out?
ipris Sep 16, 2002, 04:22 PM I voted other. I like the general area around 1 and 2, but just would like to see more distance between the capital and the founding of our next city.
Great Iguanaman Sep 16, 2002, 04:35 PM i would like to see the city built one square to the lower right of option nuber two. This would decrease overlap and eventually increase our cultural influence by 1 more in that direction. So i vote for other.
donsig Sep 16, 2002, 07:02 PM There seems to be interest in keeping our cities close together. See this poll. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31421)
Chieftess Sep 16, 2002, 07:15 PM What happens if we can't create a decent poll that satisfies everyone when the next turn chat comes? Just delay the turn chat? If we keep doing this, then Civ4 will be out before this game is over! :)
FionnMcCumhall Sep 16, 2002, 09:23 PM please close this thread i have created another one. thx

No can do. This poll is already more than halfway to quorum. What would be the difference in the new one?
neutral leader Sep 16, 2002, 09:39 PM i voted other, i think one to the southwest of spot 2 would be best. we dont want overcrowding.

The domestic department can decide city placement in the absence of citizen input. If the citizens don't decide and domestic doesn't decide then the DP can decide. No need to stop the turn chat. Besides, the settler won't be done for six turns and it'll take 3 or 4 turns to get to a location. If worse comes to worse let the settler stand around for a turn or two and we can continue the discussion for the Sunday turn chat.
Cyc Sep 16, 2002, 11:16 PM One tile SW of #2 is also a good choice.
FionnMcCumhall Sep 16, 2002, 11:20 PM Keep in mind that the settler comes from Valhalla
FionnMcCumhall Sep 17, 2002, 10:00 PM 3 more votes and it hits quorum people.

Well, since #1 has a five vote lead over other you've convinced me not to vote. Any vote cast now is a vote for #1. We're better off if no more votes are made.
FionnMcCumhall Sep 18, 2002, 01:58 AM Im sorry that the poll doesnt please you donsig, but the people (citizens) are voteing for the site they best feel is the best choice. Im sorry that i didnt get all of the proposals from the opinions as well. I tried to recify the poll by posting a new one but wasnt allowed by the mods as it was already nearing a quorum vote. Your refusal to vote is noted but dont forget that your voice is one that wont be heard due to your failure to place a vote. Furthermore a comment like the one you posted wasnt very nice or appropriate.
