Hi!

I've started to work on a Europe mod, and made this map for it.

From this ponit the message is edited, and the latest info is put in. (16/10/2002)

SIZE: 160 x 160 (Huge)

STARTING LOCATIONS: 31
- 9 of them asssigned (Rome, Egypt, Germany, France, England, Russia, Babylon, Persia, Greece)
- 22 are random (7 of them will be fixed when PtW comes out)

RESOURCES: modified
- luxury: amber instead of silk
- luxury: salt instead of spice
- strategic: rare metal instead of rubber
Only the name and the graphics has benn changed for these resouces.

BARBARIANS: there are two versions
- the first version contains no barb villages
- the second version has many barb villages, and i tried to make the name of the barbarian tribes historically and geographically correct.

MOD: My Ultimate European Mod based on this map is under construction. Feel free to look at it through the link in my signature.

If you check the map you may say that it has too much Africa, we don't need so much desert, because the AI will colonize it like a madman etc...
Well it's because
1. I doesn't want to leave out the arabian civ.
2. I will put resouces in it (Oil, and Ivory to the south to represent the trade from Africa.)
3. In my mod it wouldn't be possible build city in desert, just colony.
4. In the beginning I had no idea how the result would look like. It shocked me a bit too. :D

Thanks to read it, now let's see the minimap.

And here's the zip file.

It contains two bic files (one with barbarian villages, and one without them), and the resources.txt file.
In the bic files some terrain/resource rules are modified because of the new resources.
You should overwrite the original resources.txt with it, but don't forget to backup.
Actually this pcx doesn't make any trouble in default games, because the original resources are in, too, but it's a problem if you use a modded your resources.txt.

First version was deleted on 01-10-2002, after 45 downloads.

Second version was deleted on 16-10-2002, after 43 downloads.

I used Mountains once but pollution is best cause when you come to put it the mountains it can get confusing. But how did pollution get into the sea - I thought that couldn't happen even in the editor.

I have dowloaded the new version.

- Minor modifications (coastlines, forests etc.)
- All pollution has been deleted.
- Natural resources placed. Tried to make realistic locations.
- Three new resouces. Salt and Amber instead of Spice and Silk. Rare Metal instead of Rubber.
- No modifications to rules, with the exception of the resources.
- 31 starting locations, 9 of them assigned, others are random.

With these, i think the map is a kind of ready.
Please play the map, if you like it and post me some feedback.
