View Full Version : Unofficial Fall Further Patch for FFH v0.41

I've finally finished, for now. I'm not going to say it's perfect, I may have missed a few things, but anyways.

Attached to this post, please find my unofficial patch for FF. This makes FF compatible with FFH v0.41, and it is mostly just fixing broken art, although I've also imported some new art that was probably going to be in the next FF version anyway.

This is not a modmod, and it will only be maintained until the next FF patch, where hopefully it will be rolled into FF. It will NOT work with any modmods, such as FFPlus. Only with Fall Further.

Installation instructions. VERY important that they're done in the right order.
1. Uninstall both FFH and FF if you are using any older versions. Make backups if you wish first.
2. Install Fall From Heaven v0.41. It's here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1)
3. Install Patch a for FFH 0.41. This is here (http://kael.civfanatics.net/files/FfH2041a.exe)
4. Install Fall Further 0.50. This is here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=8500)
5. Install Patch N for Fall Further 0.50. This is here (http://grahamcox.co.uk/ffh/fallfurther/FF050-PatchN.exe)
6. Download the attachment on this post.
7. Unzip it into the Assets directory of Fall Further 050. This can be found at: \Sid Meier's Civilisation IV\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Fall Further 050\Assets
You should get messages to overwrite files. that means you did it right. overwrite everything.

And you're done :)

Changelog:

Version C:
1. Fixed Malakim Archer; kael had changed the art to a firaxis unit that looks quite nice.
2. Fixed "Create Dancing Bear" button
3. Fixed missing Great commander model

Version B:
1. Fixed austrin champion; gloss maps and animations.
2. Added pegasus mounted austrin champion; new button art for both
3. Fixed soldier of kilmorph; restored old model
4. Fixed Donal Lugh; imported shield version
5. Fixed graveyard; increased scale from 1.8 to 20
6. Created new folder. Assets/Art/Animations .This folder will hold all custom .kfm

Version A:

1. Imported all new FFH art from v0.41. This includes the following.
Arthendain
Khazad Crossbowman
Khazad Berserker
Dwarven Paladin
Orc Paladin
Angel of Death (it has new animations!!!!!)
Svartalfar Beastmaster
Amurite Chariot
Bannor Chariot
Calabim Chariot
Doviello Chariot
Illian Chariot
Lanun Chariot
Sidar Chariot
Sheam Horse Archer
Amurite Horse Archer
Doviello Horse Archer
Illian Horse Archer
Lanun Horse Archer
Temple of Leaves
Song of Autumn
Pillar of Chains
Rantine

2. Fixed all known missing art. Big emphasis on known. I can only fix the ones I found, or was told about. There may still be missing units that I missed. If you find any units that are Red Blobs instead of an actual model, report them here and I will fix them.

3. Added new art by me, for upcoming FF/FFH patches, and a few other small things:
Updated Seraph model (6 beating wings and blazing sword)
Improved griffon model
New Infernal Warrior model Used a mane with weapons to replace the skeleton.
Austrin Recurve Archer
Austrin Highlander (swordsman)
Austrin Champion
Austrin Pegasus Riders: Warrior, Highlander, Recurve Archer
Cualli Assasin

4. Standardised the scale of dwarven units to 0.36. giving them a much more uniform look. This is the scale most of them were already, but a few units, especially the new ones, were much larger and human-sized, which looked wrong.

5. Fixed the scale of the Nightwatch model. A bug that has annoyed me forever. They are no longer giants.

6. Rejected the new Lightbringer model, and put the old one back. Why kael chose to replace a perfect visually unique unit, with inappropriate firaxis art, I'll never know. but it looked silly.

This patch includes all relevant art and xml. Follow the instructions listed above and it will work.

Feel free to post comments, suggestions, bug reports, etc here.

Rather surprised noone's noticed this, but the graveyard art has changed... Need to change <fScale>1.8</fScale> to <fScale>20.0</fScale>. Was wondering why I had an invisible graveyard to pillage.

I DID notice that. And I mentioned it. And my internet cut out at the most inopportune time while posting. And I forgot to try again.

But yes, you need scale 20.

Because you don't have the new fpak from FfH. :p

It's the undead temple from Kohan 2.

new version of unofficial patch uploaded. Changelog in OP updated.

by the way, the filesize of this patch is ballooning rapidly. Doubled since the first release. I hope you're going to update FF soon, guys. or I might have to use the downloads database for this.

Check out the latest ModCast as well, there is a new Civilization website which aims to host unlimited filesizes for modders, and claims to have nice upload/download speeds.

I had some orange blobs walking around the screen instead of Soldiers of Kilmorph

But.. I've fixed them, twice already.

Could you make sure you're using the latest version of this (Patch C) and that you're using it with Fall Further Patch N, not any other modmods ?

Warkirby...dumb question.

When I updated to .41 on FFH, i was running FF just fine. Did i need to totally reinstall FF and then patch to N. as FF was already loaded, I applied patch N then your patch. Did i need to totally reinstall everything? Will that break my current save if I do?

You don't need to completely reinstall FF, no. It's just the simplest, foolproof methoc. All you really need to do is copy the .fpk over from FFH. I think it's under assets/art.

Doing that won't break a savegame, I'm pretty sure. But installing my patch is quite likely (but not certain) to break savegames. So if you have a game in progress, probably best to finish it before installing the patch.

I did that actually. I had been running FF 050 patch N on FFH 041 without any graphic issues (granted i dont know if the correct new art was in or not) only after loading your patch did i get the Kilmorph blob. I also noticed that the button for Dancing Bear seemed to be missing.

I'm going to finish this game, then try to uninstall and reload the FF files.

Quick question: Have you updated the Calabim Palace? Because the old model (the one that fits the Ashen Veil) was removed in FfH 0.41.

No, I haven't/. I'll have a look at that

Utter / complete "art novice" here, I'm having trouble in FF+ with Yurts, they're appearing as enormous Red Blobs. Not single-tile sized, more like a radius of 5ish tiles, almost like a big mushroom cloud.

What folders should a novice like me hunt through for the purpose of potential cutting and pasting of things, on the positive assumption that this kind of thing may be that easy.... i.e., sniff around (some folder for some DDS / mdl / whatever), plunk into (a particular folder in the modmodmod of choice...)

Note this may be a problem unique to me, and I recognize it's a FF+ not FF issue, still, would like to learn a little for self-help, might help me fix some red blob griffins and hippogriffs I've also been experiencing.

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue...

Decided to reinstall everything from scratch just to clean up the files etc.

Installed FFH 2, the patch, FF, the patch for that and then WarKirby's stuff as instructed.

Civ crashes on startup.

Trying to figure out what the issue is...I can start BTS just fine. I can get it to load FfH if I don't patch it. As soon as I apply the patch for FfH, Civ crashes.

Whatever files FF pulls from FFH is causing that to crash as well.

Haven't been able so far to figure out what the issue is, but thought I should post a heads up just in case. Will post again if I figure this one out.

FF doesn't work with FfH patch B. It's crashing because FF needs 3.17, not 3.19.. Installing just tye base FfH will work, so long as you reinstall and repatch BTS as well.

War Chariot graphic seems to be missing. Noticed that when trying to play hippus.

Unfortunately it also crashes, when I try to build them.

Pretty sure I fixed the war chariot. Is it still missing after installing this patch ?

Ah, thanks. I wasn't aware that there was a new patch (after all this time) for BTS, as I use Civ through Steam and it auto updates. Haven't played any FF in about two weeks and havent' been around the forums much lately either...so I had no clue I was running on 3.19.

Re-installing BTS now, hopefully I can figure out how to not upgrade to the latest version in Steam. Bleh.

Edit: Unfortunately not. Looks like I am stuck at 3.19 via Steam updates no matter what I do. @$%$%^&&#$#@@. Started up a normal BTS game (what! Ack!!). Been awhile. Wang Kon and his Tao confederate (3 other civs) just all declared war on me. I razed Wang's closest city, and immediately started looking for my Adept so I could Sanctify the ruins

I just tested with the patch linked at your first post.

The problem just seems to occur with the Hippus war chariot. With other civs it is fine.

WarKirby
Jun 21, 2009, 12:11 PM
oh, hippus have a unique one. Perhaps some other civs do too....

I don't know much about the inner workings of the game, I just play it :)
Maybe you can just replicate the normal Art to use with Hippus as well.

The new FfH2 installer, "FallfromHeaven2041c.exe", includes patch C - which requires BtS v3.19 and thus will not work for the purposes of FF050n + WarKirby's fix. However, it is possible to install FfH2 0.41c using that installer, and then downgrade to 0.41a by installing patch A ("FfH2041a.exe") over patch C. I haven't done extensive testing with this configuration, but I was able to start a game without crashing.
