View Full Version : Resignation
Grandmaster Sep 18, 2002, 02:01 PM As it would seem public opinion has turned drastically against me, I feel it is only right that I leave this demogame in the hopes of returning peace to the land. I will not be active in discussion anymore, but I MAY return at a later date. However, before I go, I have a few points to make:
1. The GEG was never affiliated w/ the FNA. I merely started both.
2. Control of the GEG can go to whoever wants it.
3. I have been accused of Nazism and Nazi undertones. This is not the case. The FNA was misinterpreted, but so be it. I am an American-born Unitarian/Jew with family from and in both Germany and Russia. My ancestors in Germany were murdered by the Nazis. My ancestors in the USSR were killed fighting the Nazis on the Eastern Front. I am not in any way a Nazi.
4. I only hope I have not caused major trouble in the demogame.
5. I also hope that this will not become a statute of law, for I feel that the closing of a thread that under a different Civ would be acceptable because it MIGHT implicate something under another Civ is wrong. May this never happen to another innocent citizen.
I now bid goodbye to my friends and colleagues in the CivIII demogame. May we achieve victory for Fanatika.
--Matt (a.k.a Grandmaster)
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 18, 2002, 02:08 PM you cant leave! just because we poo-pooed the fanatikan league, dosent mean you have to go. if i did that, id have been long gone. and i dont think anyone ever called you an "N". at least i didnt. please come back!
eyrei Sep 18, 2002, 02:34 PM Grandmaster,
Just so you know, I am also not particularly pleased with the events that transpired in either of the threads in question, and I do not blame you for either. I honestly believe that the posts by neutral leader and great iguanaman were not necessarily sincere, and that they were intended to induce contraversy and flaming rather than spare the feelings of those who might have been offended by a allusion to Nazi Germany. However, I have no proof of this, so no action will be taken. I ask that you reconsider leaving the game, and I hope we will not have this problem again. The nationalist association could be turned into to a group that does not base it's judgements on race, and in that respect can fit into this game.
To all,
The sociological state of this forum seems to follow a wave like pattern, and it is at a low point at the moment. No one person or group is to blame (I cannot even necessarily exclude myself), but I ask that everyone attempt not to read ill intent, sarcasm or insults into the posts of their peers. If you do not agree with someone about one of their viewpoints, or 'pet' threads, feel free to debate. However, do not attack them personally, and do not ask that the thread be closed unless it is obviously and inexplicably insulting, illegal, or spam.
Good day,
Eyrei
donsig Sep 18, 2002, 07:36 PM Some of us don't even know what this is about and I for one don't want to know. But don't be so swift to pack up and leave. As one who only pays attention to the RPG threads and CIV 3 game related threads in the demo game I'm surprised that the names mentioned in this thread have even been involved in controversy! I hope things work out...
Shaitan Sep 19, 2002, 02:25 AM You have my support as well, Grandmaster, and I hope you will reconsider leaving the demogame.
BCLG100 Sep 19, 2002, 10:59 AM yeh i dont particullay want to know but dont go just because some people had a go at you if everyone did that it would be a pretty small demogame
Grandmaster Sep 19, 2002, 03:00 PM This is the last you'll hear of me for a while.... I intend to give things a few days (about a week or so) to cool down, and then I will attempt to return to the game. Should anyone in high places or the citizenry in general still be mad at me, I will honorably resign permanently. I hope by then that the initial pain on the behalf of the offended will be done with, and that those who I have hurt can forgive me. If not, so be it...
neutral leader Sep 19, 2002, 03:39 PM my statements were not intended as controversy-inducing flames of any kind. they were however intended to decry what i perceived to be a dangerous nationalist ideology, similar to that which has been seen historically in times gone by. if i have misunderstood what you had intended, then i apologize. i simply reacted to what i thought was the intent of your post.
Great Iguanaman Sep 19, 2002, 03:49 PM i am not very appreciative of being pretty much singled out liki it was all me. If my actions where taken as serious i apologize and i will cut back on jokes knocking other peoples ideas. I will not do this in the future and apologize for all the trouble i have caused.

eyrei Sep 19, 2002, 03:55 PM I am not worried about what the two of you appreciate. You basically accused another citizen of being a Nazi with no proof, prompting him to want to leave the game. Learn that you do not always represent those around you, please.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 19, 2002, 04:46 PM just wondering, where (if not deleted) are these remarks? i would like to view them to see what started all of this.
Cyc Sep 19, 2002, 04:51 PM Just can't let it go, can you SAaM? Gotta dig that knife in some more, huh?
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 19, 2002, 05:34 PM no, i just want to see where these were. id been monitoring the situation before he reisgned and am interested in seeing why this even occured. if you feel this isnt right, just let me know.
Great Iguanaman Sep 19, 2002, 05:54 PM they where in the citizens groups, but theyre gone now. I will not repeat what i said and i dont know what Neutral said. The damage was done, the best we can do it is let the wound heal, not rip off the scab.

Great Iguanaman Sep 19, 2002, 05:59 PM i was wrong, theyre still there.
