I'm running a little behind right now. We'll have the game up in about 24 hours. You'll be playing as India against only 5 Monarch level AI's. Should be a lark, right?

EvilConqueror Jun 16, 2009, 01:04 AM I played as India on a Pangaea in a Regent level game a few weeks back. I wonder how having fewer rivals will impact the game.
Should be an interesting one. I don't know about a walk in the park though. ;)
TheOverseer714 Jun 16, 2009, 03:58 PM Bet me that there will be no nearby Iron? Or you'll be island-bound?
krakedhalo Jun 16, 2009, 09:54 PM Something's definitely suspicious about that, but should be fun.
I'm thinking of a race - first person to have ivory and 100 elephants wins?
CKS Jun 16, 2009, 11:40 PM Those conquest class bonuses look awfully significant to me, and the lack of visible shields is troubling. If we have no shields and are surrounded by jungle and aggressive AI, it'll be an unpleasant start.
Our location suggests we're not on an island, and war elephants don't require iron, so I expect there is a different catch to this game.
civ_steve Jun 17, 2009, 12:05 AM And the saves are available! Good Luck!
Megalou Jun 17, 2009, 07:22 AM Wow, this looks really promising. Everything one would wish for except BGs. But despite the whale I agree there must be something fishy.
templar_x Jun 17, 2009, 07:38 AM Megalou et al - what do you think about a predator "fair play" challenge for either fastest conquest or domination (i´d prefer conquest) ? ;););)
Racinante Jun 17, 2009, 09:48 AM Fog Gazing... there may be one BG NW,NW of the settler, but I cannot spy anything else.
Scratcher Jun 17, 2009, 10:00 AM I've not played as the Indians for a long time. Can you upgrade Horsemen to War Elephants?
Scratcher
Optional Jun 17, 2009, 04:51 PM Yes, you can. And War Elephants upgrade to Cavalry. They've always been a bit weird in genetics, those Indians.
Racinante Jun 17, 2009, 05:36 PM I guess that makes the elephant an Indian horse...
templar_x Jun 18, 2009, 03:06 AM those beasts must genetically be very close to each other, as this works the other way around, too. think of KT turning eles into horses... :)
Megalou Jun 18, 2009, 07:57 AM Megalou et al - what do you think about a predator "fair play" challenge for either fastest conquest or domination (i´d prefer conquest) ? ;););)Possibly, but I doubt that I'll have time for this game and the outside chance of a BC win (are you sniggering, civ_steve?) will always have top priority with me.
Lanzelot Jun 19, 2009, 02:48 AM Megalou et al - what do you think about a predator "fair play" challenge for either fastest conquest or domination (i´d prefer conquest) ? ;););)
I really enjoyed GOTM91, so I'll try this one as well, depending on how much work COTM61 still is... However, after the "Celtic Conquest" I'll try something different this time. Doesn't seem right for peaceful Gandhiji to conquer the world... :king:
Lanzelot Jun 19, 2009, 02:50 AM think of KT turning eles into horses... :)
You mean SoZ, don't you?!
templar_x Jun 19, 2009, 03:39 AM Right. SoZ.
Must be Freudian that Knight Templar came to my mind ;)

i won´t be able to take that challenge myself either. i got a corrupt save and had to start all over :(
gandhi is not at all peaceful in MY games. when the AI plays him, i always perceive the Indians as one of the most aggressive civs.

Lanzelot Jul 11, 2009, 04:52 AM Ok, I started the game, but I don't qualify for the first spoiler yet, so I post my question here: when I started the game, it said "Brennus of the Indians"
Is there something wrong here, civ_steve?! We had the Celts last time. Should be Gandhi this time, shouldn't it?
But anyway, if Gandhi is not ruling the Indians in this game, I might as well go for Domination/Conquest... :D (Time constraints don't permit anything else anyway.) So count me in for the "fair play challenge"! (Which means "no RoP rape and no connect/disconnect", if I understood this correctly, right? Anything else?)
Cheers, Lanzelot
AlanH Jul 11, 2009, 05:39 AM Leader names are just ... names. Have you never heard of Mahatma Gandhi's infamous evil uncle, Mahatma Brennus?
Everything published about this game says the player race is India. Trust me, it's India!
templar_x Jul 12, 2009, 07:46 AM AlanH - yes, that´s the guy who ALWAYS leads India in my games!
Lanzelot - quite yes, those techniques (or better, the sacrifice of them) are what made Megalou call them my "fair play rules" - i guess ;)
however, they are merely my own playing preferences. and there i´d add "fake peace deals" to your list.
i´ve already finished and posted my game, but you´ll see only an inofficial templar result for the challenge, as i had to start over with an invalid save. good luck with your save - and have fun with this game!
