Woot! Thunderfall was kind enough to create a sub-forum for FFPlus... I'll be working on getting some threads stickied too.

Here, fire it in the air. Trust me, it's cathartic.
Good work, BTW! :goodjob:

oh wow.

Although, perhaps we don't need so much subclassing...

Also, I've been thinking that we should try to release 0.51 as a complete self-installing download, no more requiring FfH to copy files out of. Really that only saves us from distributing the Resources Folder, which is sizeable, but not TOO large. Everything else we overwrite. Then no more having people wonder what version of FfH they need and where to actually find that version (could wind up being a huge issue if at some point Kael does a new full download again and we aren't ready to release for quite a while, like now kinda :p)

The main "big" file is Pak0.fpk - which weighs in at 132MB compressed. Our last full release was a little over 90MB I think...

I've been thinking some more about this one - we can afford the hit provided download rates aren't significantly up (more than double) what we generally get on a major release. It'll be a pain to upload but I can live with that.

I also wanted to check that it'd be ok with Kael and co before severing the last dependency, which I've now done and it's fine. It'll actually make life a lot easier regarding artwork/pak files in anycase, though I'm not sure whether to keep 2 pak files or just make it into one containing all the artwork.

With no dependancies on FFH, wouldn't t be pretty reasonable for FF to move up to it's own top level forum instead of being an FFH subforum ?

I remember reading something along those lines some days ago... and I remember someone answering that FF was nonetheless a FfH modmod, at least in spirit.

It definitely is.

I don't think there's any problem at all with it - I'd leave the forum structure concerns to the moderators. So long as people can find their way around, it won't be a problem for us anyway.

I am late as always, but CONGRATULATIONS!!!

It was needed and I have been expecting it any day. Good luck getting all FF+ related threads here. I mean Doviello + etc ;)

Haha actually, that was my thought last night... Dear god, ANOTHER forum to read?

Speaking of the Hamstalfar, I'm giving serious thought to making them a full fledged civ rather than a joke of Tarquelne's.... I like the idea.

Edit @Ahwaric: haha Thank you. Probably should get the Malakim and Doviello threads moved, but atm they're dead threads and I have links in the original FFPlus thread, which will soon be in a new Credits thread, so I'm not too worried about it.

I would say that FF will never move out of FfH subforum status mainly because we take advantage of the learning curve of FfH. If someone was browsing the Mod Forums and stumbled on FF and gave it a go... They'd quite possibly be more than a little bit lost, and then we'd have to explain where to find FfH and how they should start there ;)

Congrats on the new forum! This will hopefully make things a bit easier to follow. I'm sad it didn't come with a general FF modmod forum, though.

I agree entirely. I definitely approve of having a fully independent download of FF, though.

*looks around.* Yesss.... This will do nicely.

If you do that, why not ask/borrow Arkitan? A Fuzzy elf, "dark" elf, "good" elf, and winged elf?

Then all we will we need is a scaly elf and even *I* will be happy. If such a thing is possible. ;3 Or a mer-elf.. Mmmm mer-elf.

Valkrionn
Jul 04, 2009, 07:06 PM
I haven't really played with the Arkitan. I might give them a go sometime soon, though.

Basically, I'd like to see the Hamstalfar with the archery of the Ljos, the recon of the Svarts, and the leadership of the Hamsters. In order to balance out the buffs, I'd either weaken their units, or prevent them from building in forests... Most likely the second, although that would depend on the size of these hamsters. ;)

Okay, this is massively confusing. Don't you have a forum, namely this one? What is the purpose of the new forum? I mean you seem pretty excited and all, so congratulations, but I'm kind of not getting it.
