admtanaka Jun 30, 2009, 05:34 PM Although I suppose this goes without saying, that is a very good start.
I guess those are floodplains below the gold? Settle in place?
Fei Kelei Jun 30, 2009, 05:51 PM Nah, settle 1E and grab all three gold. Fewer floodplains that way, but that also means less of a health problem, and you can use the others with another city, not to mention that you don't waste one by settling on it.
Matthew5117 Jun 30, 2009, 06:07 PM CURSE HUGE MAPS! HOW MANY TIMES HAS IT BEEN NOW!?
TMIT will come around complaining too. ;)
bhavv Jul 01, 2009, 12:41 PM This is hard with Raging Barbs :(
Need to get Archery First, then try for Great Wall.
Matthew5117 Jul 01, 2009, 12:46 PM TMIT? Your overdue......
Dealing with Raging Barbs shouldn't be too hard, just build Archers as you plan. You don't even need the Great Wall.
bhavv Jul 01, 2009, 01:23 PM I am a raging barbarian noob.
nbcman Jul 01, 2009, 05:44 PM Settle 1E. There will be 3 golds and a minimum of 3 floodplains in the BFC.
bhavv Jul 02, 2009, 04:26 AM LOL ....
I tried again and settled 1N on the dyes to get the stone and built the Great Wall.
Eventually the Barbarians destroyed both Zulu and Persia by 870 BC, while I'm sitting happilly untouched with 7 cities =D
And I just discovered another source of gold near bablylon ^^.
huerfanista Jul 03, 2009, 06:47 AM I can't load this save. The error message pops up too quickly to read before the game exits. I am running 3.19 - does this save require a mod of some kind?
EDIT: Well, looking at your settings it appears you have Lock modified Assets on.
robyextreme Jul 03, 2009, 06:50 AM I would do it if it wasn't huge map :( this is my favorite Civ to.
Glouglou Jul 06, 2009, 04:14 PM For those who do not want to play huge map, here is another goldfest:
You are Darius of the Indians
Monarch/Marathon/Fractal/Low Sea Level ... see settings for the rest ...
Enjoy :king:

That start is ridiculous. It's worth a good 2+ difficulty levels lower! The Oracle gave me currency; Liberalism gave me...
Railroads.
Four gold + corn + floodplains + horse in BFC. Stone close nearby means early great wall and stonehenge. Fast workers. Organized + financial + the gold means that you can rex as hard as you want and still be a money factory. For some reason, all the AIs basically stay in the stone age forever (not enough land? they don't war all that much..). I was seeing spearman and archers with some longbowmen when I had infantry.
