Make it 3.19. Most mods have upgraded by now, so there's no real reason not to do it as updated as possible.

Plus, backwards compatibility to 3.17 (and anything with no schema changes before that) is no problem with no SDK changes for now.

I can probably do history, and I will give some XML a shot but since I have never moded at all I don't know how it may turn out.

What kind of XML work do we need? Units? Buildings? Civs? Leaders? Civics? Techs? I can do some of it. As long as you tell me what to make each (thing above) do.

I suggest either making a separate thread called "Mod Progress" or add a progress report to the first post.

I need Civs, Leaders, Civics, and Techs
Along with the python for Force powers and the Xml and graphics

I'm in the process of doing the python- I'll have a python folder ready for you by tomorrow or at the latest, two days from now. Also, I want to make some changes to the mapscript.

I can do civs, leaders, civics if you give me a list. Techs are more complicated- if you have a tech tree picture I can try to put that in.

What do you want to do Jawa in programming graphics or just tester and historical checker because I'm checking history with my star wars encyclopedia and wookiepedia

Jawa'sRevenge
Aug 02, 2009, 09:51 PM
I can test, be a historical checker, and provide feed back. Also I am learning how to do the XML (most is pretty easy) so I could help with that. Also find city names, write some of the diplomacy stuff like that:)

historical checker because I'm checking history with my star wars encyclopedia and wookiepedia

Its always good to have a second one with the canon how it is these days

I would start as soon as I can but... my computer refuses to patch to 3.19, I'm still stuck on 3.17 so I don't think I can be of much help till that it cleared up.

Howdy, I'd love to lend a hand!

First and foremost, I've coded before, usually working in C++. That said, I downloaded the XML editor and took a look and it shouldn't be too hard to actually edit anything there. Additionally, with access to the SDK we could most anything we want, so perhaps it'd be worth taking a look there as well.

I also have several other useful traits. I've created some 2D graphics before, nothing perhaps astounding but sound. Sitting under my bed happen to be a bunch of Star Wars reference books as well, so those could come infinitely in handy as it were.

Thanks!

Do you have the new revised editions of the reference books and the Star Wars encyclopedia? That is what I'm using currently plus wookiepedia.
I'm just starting with the DLL if I post the source files here you think you could help with a few things? Those would be in the SDK thread.
Some more traaits might be useful. You might want to start a new thread for Civics/Traits where almost anything can be added in through the SDK. Right. What are you really good at in XML so I know what I should give you. If you can do text you can work on the text files currently this mod is only for english, but I'd like to make it multi langauge compatible. That is if you can do that. There is another thread for those things.
All and all I just need to know what you WANT to do and you can do that as long as its not already assigned to someone else. If so You might still get the job whatever is most efficient to get a version out on this mod.

I have the New Essential Guides to Characters, Weapons and Technology, and Vehicles and Vessels, the Essential Guide to the Force and the Essential Atlas.

I meant to say (but apparently forgot) that I've never actually worked inside the XML's so there's no particular area there I have experience in. I'm a quick learner though, and having just downloaded the first time and looked, I don't imagine there's much tricky-ness to it. I'd be glad to help with XML's.

As for the Source Files, sure, I'd be glad to give a hand there. Traits, Civics, Techs, all that stuff I can help with, as well as text. I know English and am slightly fluent in French, but that's the extent of my knowledge. Using grammatical syntax of French I could figure out Spanish, but other languages might be outside my realm of expertise.

What I'd like to do is really... well, anything, hehe. If there's anything specifically you'd like help on, just throw me a bone and I'll chew it as best I can ;)

Could you take control of this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=335881)? That way you can oorganize everything tell me what I should be posting up on the top and I might still do a few things here and there but this will give me more time for addingunits in and other XML pieces.
I've updated the list please tell me if anyones missing from it or if I put someones job wrong.

I can't code but I work as a QA Technician. I don't have any experience with this scope (PC game) of testing but I'd love to lend a hand if needed. I also have worked as a support tech for windows Vista but in all honesty that was mostly using google search and Microsoft KB to get the answers.
If help is wanted testing let me know.

I'd like to help out with the mod. I know a lot about Star Wars (from KotOR era on through the new Fate of the Jedi series). I admittedly don't know much about modding, but I can at least help with ideas and write civilopedia entries, if nothing else.

civ editor11
Jun 28, 2010, 09:36 AM
Could you start writing the civilopedia and diplo infos?

Ruanek
Jun 28, 2010, 01:19 PM
Sure. Should I just start with the unit and resource lists?

Also, what is diplo info? (Sorry, I'm new to modding.)

civ editor11

Just do the civilopedia.

sorry if this has already been posted or in the wrong area but i was thinking if anyone has tried to use the basics of Final Frontier as a base for the mod?

civ editor11
Mar 18, 2011, 10:51 AM
Final Frontier will not work for what we are trying to do. We need a larger planet size so that we can have land as well as space battles.

civ editor11
Mar 18, 2011, 10:53 AM
Is anyone still willing to help make this for BTS 3.19. I am sorry if I go off for a while sometimes my life is extremely hectic right now.

Why don't you have one mod based on Final Frontier for the space stuff and have separate scenarios for the land battles? IMO trying to do both land and space on the same map is kinda crazy...

civ editor11
Mar 18, 2011, 05:09 PM
We already have a good space map with planets set up. That is one reason to stay with a space map with planets
We have already done much work on this mod that would have to be redone if we tried to do Final Frontier.
I hope these can convince you the planets are better.

How do you avoid distortion problems? The only way I can think of to get more than 2 systems on a civ4 map without severe distortion is to have a map so large that civ4 will crash every couple turns.

civ editor11
Mar 20, 2011, 02:38 PM
We currently don't have them in systems they are just randomly placed throughout the map.
The current version is working. I am making a few minor changes to the units but what we really need now is graphics, buildings, religions

I know I'm new to the forum, but I'm not new to the game. I have Civ IV Complete and I've been playing for a while. But when i saw this mod, and seeing what you need, I just had to get on here to help out.

I am currently studying the python programming language, and I have a more than basic knowledge of XML. I am also an expert on Star Wars, having read much of the books and seen the movies over and over. I am willing to help anywhere I am needed.

I especially would like to help in Factions, Leaders, Tech Info, even designing a Tech Tree. I also have high quality pictures of the current faction leaders too, so they won't be as blurry. Also, I'd love to help in the Civilopedia area. And even designing the diplomacy and religions too.

Thanks,
Michael

I dont know what i could do to help but, I have become skilled over the years of messing around with mods: adding techs that i want, adding leaders, changing dialogue so on and so fourth...

I would love to see this mod complete sometime and be near completion, sometime and not die off.

With the upcoming release of Star Wars the Old Republic I cannot get enough star wars.

I'm somewhat skilled with everything besides opython :( and would love to help with whatever i can.
