COTM 62 Spoiler2: End of the Middle Ages

Reading Requirements:


Must be able to research an Industrial Age Technology.
Must have contact with all remaining civs and full knowledge of the map.


Posting restrictions


No maps showing Industrial or Modern resources.
No discussion of Industrial Age (or later).
Absolutely NO discussion of any other active 'X'OTM Contest


This map requires an overseas approach for dealing with the AI (if you wish to). Probably most of this would be done during the Middle Ages, so how did you go about this?

Several times in this game, and lately in some other G/COTM games, I've run across undefended cities owned by AI that I'm at war with. I've never run across this before. They aren't new cities. They are established ones, and nearby cities sometimes have as many as 3 defenders. What is causing this strange behavior?

Only thing I can think of is that the AI is so broke that they're being forced to disband units in what they deem less important cities. I didn't see any of that in my game but I've seen it in regular games I've played.
