I went into worldbuilder in my World War One mod, and to test the ai I got an open borders agreement with sweden, so I then put a swedish great merchant outside st. petersburg and the merchant went south and left russian territory and just stood not moving for several turns on a hill, I don't get it. It is the unit that comes with the game why does it not perform a trade mission? I also put a swedish transport on the map with two great merchants in it and it just took them to a home port and they just stayed there...ha ha...I am guessing still in the transport. Let me know if anyone knows whats going on here, its ridiculous that a unit that comes with the game is not used by the AI.

Is there an answer for this?
