I think we need another article on national wonders but I'm not sure exactly what, so this thread is for brainstorming/discussion.

It seems like every couple months there's a new discussion thread about what national wonders should be paired together. That's not really harmful, but to me it looks like the same old conversation every time. I think it would be good if there was an article on the subject: say, a one-paragraph introduction, followed by links to all the old discussion threads.

VOU put together a list sort of like that here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=8290916#post8290916), but that list isn't strictly about pairing. The thread it's from is partly about pairing, but it also encompasses other national wonder strategic issues.

So I wonder if a different scope for the article would be better.

I also wonder if I'm barking up the wrong tree about pairing discussions. Maybe there haven't been as many as I think there have been... or maybe a thread index article on the subject would be less useful, or more obnoxious, than I think.

There should certainly be an article in the WA on this topic.
I suggest that it include two or three different NW pairing combinations - based on play style or map or whatever makes sense.

I think an article on the use of National wonders in general would be good. I'd like to talk about pairing (what go well together, what you never, ever do - like build heroic epic in your shrine city), where to place them (oxford in cap in a bureacracy game, for instance), how to efficiently build national wonders in specialist cities, should you build hermitage in a non-culture game... stuff like that.

For instance, ironworks should be put in a city on a river, to get the extra bonus from a levee and the extra health, too. It may make sense to not clear cut that city, as well, cause 2 trees will help offset.

National park - generally build in the tundra near a city with a lot of food? Never ever pair with ironworks, cause it will cut the effectiveness in half.

When, if ever, do you move your palace?

Is it possible to have a discussion about pairing national wonders without dipping into other national wonder strategic issues? Hmm, I wonder...

No, but I don't think it matters as such. I think you can still have a designated scope and usefully orient around that.

But what the designated scope of another national wonder article should be, I'm not sure.
