View Full Version : Your Hardest 5 Bosses
Dumanios Aug 01, 2009, 08:36 AM What are the hardest 5 Bosses in video games you have seen fought and have fought yourself?
(I have bolded the bosses I've fought)
5:Origin Form Giratina(Pokemon Platinum):This guy is a hard guy to catch at this stage of the game. You can spend a lot of time to try and catch him or kill him and catch him later,His moveset includes Ominous Wind and Ancient Power to increase his stats,His unique move,Shadow Force for a 2-Turn move and Dragon Claw for general killing.

4:Shadow Queen(Paper Mario:The 1,000 year door):She can raise her own stats and steal HP.
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/mario/images/f/fa/ShadowQueen.jpg
3:Sephiroth(Kingdom Hearts):Although he is optional as a boss,he is required for 100% completion, and boy is he fast.Having a 7 Foot long sword doesn't help your case either. He can also use an attack that cuts your HP to 1,and He'll usually use an attack after this.
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/kingdomhearts/images/8/8b/OneWingedSephiroth.jpg
2:Tabuu(Super Smash Bros. Brawl):You don't have to do the Subspace Emissary, but you'll end up doing it anyway because Smash Bros. never had a storyline before. You fight Tabuu at the end of the Great Maze.He can teleport, fire giant lasers out of his eyes and has 2 OHKO attacks.

1:Queen Larsa(Mushihimesama Futari)This boss is the final boss in Mushihimesama Futari. The link has the video of her being fought. It doesn't help that she has 2 more forms on the hardest level. Also the pink and purple things are enemy bullets!

steviejay Aug 02, 2009, 04:34 AM Hmmmm, General RAAM from GoW1 on the hardest difficulty almost ended me. I had to get a friend to help me cause the AI was just stupid.
Same went for The Mana Beast in Secret of Mana. I needed a friend to be there.
Oddly enough the Demon Wall from the Temple of the Ancients in FFVII took me ages, but that was mainly due to me not leveling up and trying to rush through the game.
Taniciusfox Aug 02, 2009, 05:50 AM 1. Dark Gaia (Sonic Unleashed) : This is a long ass boss battle, rotating between short running - and timed - segments, flying towards him avoiding flaming boulders from hell, and then finally, after all the running, sweating, dodging and timed button taps, you have to go on to PERFECT Dark Gaia. Who wouldn't be so hard, except you have to make sure Light Gaia doesn't die on you, or you die too. Damned snake heads... And then after ALL THAT, you have to press the X Button 60 times in like 30 seconds or die. Overall, a very time-consuming, very epic battle. The music for Perfect Dark Gaia makes up for the whole thing though. <3

2. Xemnas (Kingdom Hearts II) : Very last time you fight him. His guard attacks are a pain in the ass as they tend to keep making Sora die. x__x It's more epic if you include the numerous other things you have to do as part of this boss. A multi-part final battle, much like Dark Gaia above.
3. King Arthur(Sonic and the Black Knight) : HATE HATE HATE this guy. You have to time your attacks perfectly, all the while dodging his fricken attacks in between the face-to-face combat. Fortunately, you only have to beat him in two face-to-face rounds to win. Once more, the music makes up for it:
Y7K4a1x04Og
4. Maleficent Dragon(Kingdom Hearts): Oh god. This battle gives me nightmares. She's annoying as hell, I've often had to use unorthodox tactics(such as hiding on the walls of the stage) to beat her. ...Once more, at least the music is neat, though it isn't as special because it's not reserved especially for this battle.
5. Tabuu. Haahaa. Yes. I hate this dude too.
Those weren't all in any particular order, but.. a general rule is, Sonic bosses aren't too hard usually, they just tend to take a LOT of time to get right. ...Especially the likes of King Arthur and Dark Gaia... x__x

Munch Aug 02, 2009, 12:00 PM "The Butcher (http://www.ladyofthecake.com/diablo/newimages/butcher.jpg) is a sadistic creature that delights in the torture and pain of others."
Azale Aug 02, 2009, 08:34 PM Tabuu was pretty easy you guys...
Ok, off the top of my head and not counting stupid secret super mega bosses. More than 5 though, I know :p
Xemnas (Kingdom Hearts II)
Spikey (Secret of Mana)
Rat Mage (Secret of Evermore)
Progenitor (Turok 2)
Mad Jack (Donkey Kong 64)
Sigma (Mega Man X)
Necro (Final Fantasy 9)
Orgodemir (Dragon Warrior 7)
Dhoulmagus [both phases at once] (Dragon Quest 8)
Weigraf/Velius (Final Fantasy Tactics)!!!!
Salvaring (Quest 64)
Dumanios Aug 02, 2009, 10:26 PM What levels have you beaten him on?
Azale Aug 03, 2009, 02:09 PM What levels have you beaten him on?
Normal. I think I lost once because I didn't know his attack patterns, but he isn't as tough as any of those bosses I listed. Maybe a little tougher than your average boss but...not all-time hair pulling out tough.
Tycoon101 Aug 03, 2009, 04:19 PM Biolizard was far harder for me than the Shadow Queen. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtcGddc_JLI)
Taniciusfox Aug 04, 2009, 01:49 AM Biolizard was far harder for me than the Shadow Queen. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtcGddc_JLI)
Oh god! I forgot to mention HIM! Even after all these years, he remains one of the hardest old bosses for me to beat. x___x I blame the many weapons in his arsenal, and the fact it's easy to die by falling into that river of.... pee?
I mean, I think the Final Hazard remains difficult after all this time too (mainly because he spams lasers), but the Biolizard always has remained one of the most evil bosses for me to face, and he's the reason I've never completed the SA2 challenge to beat all the Hero, Dark and Last Story bosses...
Phlegmak Aug 04, 2009, 09:19 AM "Boss" creatures are unimpressive to me in general (I mean there should be better ways of building a video game), but the hardest one I can think of right now is the one at the end of Shadow Warrior. I think Zilla was his name.
Fetus4188 Aug 04, 2009, 05:00 PM Hell difficulty Diablo (in D2) was damn hard until they patched that game into oblivion. They made the characters too strong so they had to add more "bosses" to counter it, rather than nerf the character immensely as needed to be done.
PhroX Aug 05, 2009, 02:32 AM Well, I never actually got to fight it, but I can't look past The Sleeper.
mech654 Aug 11, 2009, 10:02 PM It have be the second act of Diablo 2. IIRC I would open a portal gate in front of the entrance and then I would keeping running in and summoning Skeletons and busting it with any magic spells and I will keep doing this until it die. I did this because there no other way I could beat it.
I can't forget the ace of clubs in Mercenaries what a pain the ass.
Kozmos Aug 16, 2009, 09:01 AM Any Boss in MGS2 on European Extreme. Fatman especially.
LightSpectra Aug 16, 2009, 02:51 PM I don't know if it was the hardest boss, but the one that gave me the most anxiety was the Butcher from Diablo. I was something like ten when I first played it, and I was expecting the first boss to be quite easy in a game that had so far posed no challenge.
I opened the door, saw a... rather grotesque scene (to put it very lightly), heard a startling voice "ahh, fresh meat" and preceded to die in four seconds.
Hikaro Takayama Aug 29, 2009, 06:55 PM "Boss" creatures are unimpressive to me in general (I mean there should be better ways of building a video game), but the hardest one I can think of right now is the one at the end of Shadow Warrior. I think Zilla was his name.
Aaah yesss.... Zilla... The only way I was able to beat him was by nuking him, then using my entire Ripper Heart inventory (If 2 Wangs better than one, then FIVE Wangs WAY better! ;) ), after which I unloaded my heaviest weapons on him while he was distracted by my 5 clones whupping up on him.
Most of the bosses in the DooM games (original DooM, that is) were pretty damn hard, especially the Cyber-daemon, which was not only 30 ft tall with almost unlimited HP, but it also happened to SHOOT FRIGGIN' 1-HIT KILL ROCKETS AT YOU THE WHOLE TIME YOU WERE FIGHTING IT!
Dumanios Aug 29, 2009, 06:59 PM I found an area in Super Mario World that is hard but has a VERY EASY boss. The 2nd Castle I hated because of the Dry Bones everywhere and at the area close to the top moving Spikes.Morty Koopa himself is a 3-hit wonder that can be killed powerup-less.
Phlegmak Aug 29, 2009, 08:20 PM Aaah yesss....
I killed him with just a bunch of rockets. It took a total of 3 hours of playing due to constant reloading.
Truronian Aug 30, 2009, 07:07 AM The 5 hardest I've beaten:
5. Hu Lao Gate Lu Bu - Dynasty Warriors
4. Tholapsyx - Neverwinter Nights 2
3. Laughing Octopus - Metal Gear Solid 4
2. Woman In Purple - Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
1. Yunalesca - Final Fantasy X
PhroX Aug 30, 2009, 09:49 AM Do mods count? If so, just remembered another - Improved Ilyich (Baldur's Gate 2). Abso-frikkin'-lutely insane.
Till Aug 30, 2009, 10:08 AM Do mods count? If so, just remembered another - Improved Ilyich (Baldur's Gate 2). Abso-frikkin'-lutely insane.
Yeah, "improved" sounds innocent enough, but doesn't quite do the fact justice that the fight now demands minute planning and quite a bit of luck. It took me a week to beat him.
In the vanilla game, Kangaxx had me frustrated for a long time, before i finally understood enough of the game mechanisms to beat him.
Edit: The poison encounter from the BG2 tactics mod is also pretty brutal...
salty mud Aug 31, 2009, 09:35 AM Any Boss in MGS2 on European Extreme. Fatman especially.
I'm about to fight Fatman on EE now. I'll try not to cry.
Question... are there any rations at all on this difficulty? I can't find any at all.
ParadigmShifter Aug 31, 2009, 10:28 AM The final boss at the end of Metroid prime was very hard (Queen Metroid?).
I gave up in despair playing Ninja Gaiden at the dinosaur (or is it dragon) boss.
Kozmos Aug 31, 2009, 07:14 PM I'm about to fight Fatman on EE now. I'll try not to cry.

I think I spent 6 hours fighting him alone...also dont think there are any...which is especially painfully considering a hit from anything = FISSION MAILED screen.

In the vanilla game, Kangaxx had me frustrated for a long time, before i finally understood enough of the game mechanisms to beat him. Kangaxx is one of those ones that seem impossible, until you know the trick (using an item or spell that protects from Imprisonment), at which point he's a walkover :p
Edit: The poison encounter from the BG2 tactics mod is also pretty brutal...
Hell, everything in the tactics mod is "pretty brutal". Never even bothered trying to defeat half the things in there. I'm just not really a fan of things that are tough purely for the sake of being tough. The only BG2 "improved" encounter I really enjoyed was Ascension, simply cos the climax of a game like that deserves to be nigh on impossible. :D
salty mud Sep 01, 2009, 03:49 AM I think I spent 6 hours fighting him alone...also dont think there are any...which is especially painfully considering a hit from anything = FISSION MAILED screen.
There isn't. European Extreme is Extreme without rations. The only way to replenish your health is after a boss battle. Fatman is a total bastard to fight on this. I can't imagine Vamp being much better.
Can Mile High Club from COD 4 be classed as a sort of boss? That nearly made me weep.
Kozmos Sep 01, 2009, 05:04 PM Vamp will take many tries to figure out his attacks. Unless you sell out and watch the youtube clip on how to fight him. The last part where he goes apesheet insane I finally solved with some C4 and luring him by hanging of the ledge.
salty mud Sep 02, 2009, 04:28 AM Done Vamp, but 25 Metal Gear RAYS can't be fun. Not looking forward to it.
For another hard boss, Saren in Mass Effect on insane with a new character is a hell of a hard time.
Kozmos Sep 02, 2009, 08:13 AM RAYs are pretty easy once you learn the patterns. It's just the endurance part that's hard. You get lulled in by the repetition and then you make one mistake and the bastards crush you.
Even harder is the thing after. The choke scene with Solidus. I hope you have thumbs of steel.
Hikaro Takayama Sep 02, 2009, 10:39 AM ...After fighting the Weapons in Final Fantasy VII, all other bosses have seemed extremely tame by comparison since.....
Captain2 Sep 02, 2009, 10:47 AM France in EU3 has to qualify
D'Artagnan59 Sep 02, 2009, 02:46 PM 5. Ultima Weapon: FF8. I'm surprised I even beat him at 9.
4. Necron: FF9. Never managed to beat him.
3. Emerald Weapon: Tried once, failed. Started new file, got bored.
2: Ruby Weapon: Got killed within two turns.
1: Yellow Devil: Mega Man 1.
Harbringer Sep 02, 2009, 05:00 PM The weapons from Final Fantasy seven, once you figure them out, theyre easy, but they still take like an hour to beat due to all the animations you have to watch for summonings.
The purple secret boss guy from legend of the seven stars and the mecha spider from Final Fantasy 12.
mythmonster2 Sep 06, 2009, 03:46 PM Night Terror from SC 3. Ugh, cheap bastard. Also, Frank and the 5 policemen from Earthbound gave a pretty big challenge to me.
Azale Sep 11, 2009, 07:53 AM 5.
Put on as many status-negation things as you can, be around level 50, and I personally would bring Steiner and a healer. Maybe synthesize ethers too, if you can.
PhroX Sep 11, 2009, 11:50 AM The weapons from Final Fantasy seven, once you figure them out, theyre easy, but they still take like an hour to beat due to all the animations you have to watch for summonings.
Agreed, they're not hard, just time consuming. Remind me of the old Luclin era bosses from EQ. Not particularly complicated, or hard to beat, they just took bloody ages.
To me, a really hard boss isn't one where it's just a matter of whacking away at a huge bag of HPs for half an hour, nor one where you have to figure out the right method, which then trivialises it.
Kozmos Sep 11, 2009, 01:44 PM Then what do you consider...truly hard?
PhroX Sep 12, 2009, 01:05 AM Then what do you consider...truly hard?
Stuff like the Improved Ilyich Mod I mentioned earlier.
Owen Glyndwr Sep 12, 2009, 01:09 AM The 5 hardest I've beaten:
5. Hu Lao Gate Lu Bu - Dynasty Warriors
2. Woman In Purple - Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
Yes! Lu Bu in DW3 was absolutely ridiculous! I remember you could go in with a 4th weapon and still get your butt handed to you.
I remember having a tough time with the lady in Purple too.
I always had trouble with Duriel from Act 2 in D2.
The Butcher in D1 was one of the reasons why I never really played much of that game.
I wouldn't really consider him hard, but did anyone else find the Vizier in Sands of Time extremely annoying. He wasn't hard, but he was just...discouraging? I suppose. I mean, you go through the whole game where every enemy can be defeated by one move or another without fail (vault over spears, wall attack on double bladed spears, etc.), and then you get to the Vizier where no one move works on them, and the way to beat him is just block and get in one hit, which seems to take FOREVER to beat him, only to find out you can't attack the main guy and he just summons up another clone from midair.
Captain2 Sep 12, 2009, 06:24 AM 1. Manager of Local Movie theatre

I :lol:ed
west india man Sep 16, 2009, 12:18 PM The giant secret swamp monster in Ratchet & Clank 2 is virtually impossible to beat without the bouncer and/or the RYNO II (Rip You a New One 2) (Best, and 2nd most expensive weapon in the game). They fire a bouncing ball full of bouncing bombs and an insane spectacle of explosive missile awesomeness respecitvely.
Also, in the same game, there is an optional 'impossible' challenge on Megacorp arena, in which you have to destroy a whopping 80 rounds of shredding, crushing, charging, flaming e.t.c robots and monster. Even the sequels version of this, the 'Qwarktastic' battle, which is 100 rounds long is easier, even with much worse weapons in the sequel. Plus, there aren't any flaming meteors coming at you in the sequel, as well as no times where you have to go on the magnetic walls, where it is much harder to fight than you might think.
