I say corporations should be species.

View Full Version : Corporations civ editor11 Aug 04, 2009, 08:20 AM I say corporations should be species. TC01 Aug 04, 2009, 08:36 AM Err... why? The mechanic of corporations is: process resources for other resources or another bonus. How does this fit species? There are plenty of good Star Wars corporations to make, well, corporations... If you want to implement species, they should be resources. Like in the Civ 3 Star Trek mod, different races were actually resources, and each civ's starting star system had a resource of that species. civ editor11 Aug 04, 2009, 08:38 AM I guess that could work just we're getting way to many resources TC01 Aug 04, 2009, 08:39 AM Oh... you mean the resources identifying a planet as unique? We're not using those. I've been able to implement the system by using script data, landmarks, and buildings in cities instead. (Or rather, I will be as soon as I start coding it). civ editor11 Aug 04, 2009, 08:43 AM Okay thanks for telling me that one corporation should be Kuat Drive Yards that should allow for building super star destroyers TC01 Aug 04, 2009, 09:10 AM Okay thanks for telling me that one corporation should be Kuat Drive Yards that should allow for building super star destroyers Then should I not use Kuat as a planet? Or should it be that both holding Kuat and having KDY lets you build stuff? I can make it that when a corporation spreads into a city it builds the BUILDING_KUAT that is also assigned when you settle the planet. civ editor11 Aug 04, 2009, 09:19 AM Kuat shouldn't be a planet correct Jawa'sRevenge Aug 04, 2009, 12:27 PM Kuat Drive Yards is located on * Kuat * Belderone=AT-AT * Gyndine=Research * Karavis=Regional Shipyard * Xa Fel=Hyperdrives * Rothana=capital ships, combat vehicles, and gunships. * Balmorra=AT-ST, other combat vehicles They are responsible for... All Star Destroyers (Imperial I,II, Assamator, Eclipse, Eclipse II, Executor...) civ editor11 Aug 04, 2009, 01:05 PM Star destroyers can only be created if you have kuat drive yards no matter what civilization What resource should you need to get kuati drive yards To build Yts(Yt-2400, Y-5100, and Y-1300) you need corellian engineering what resource for this one also TC01 Aug 04, 2009, 02:42 PM Resources like titanium? (the resources from asteroids). You can add more (Star Trek for instance added a Plasma resource required to build the Transwarp Corridor route). What about corporations like Cybot Galactica, Industrial Automaton? They could be more traditional corporations and give bonus production (representing droids). civ editor11 Aug 04, 2009, 02:46 PM Those are two corporations that would work I just need to know what resource to put for them T_KCommanderbly Aug 04, 2009, 07:06 PM is it possible for you coding guys to put in a species tab like the religions and corporations? and here are some corporations... Mon Calamari Shipyards: Make Mon Calamari Cruisers (heavy batteship for the Rebal Alliance) http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mon_Calamari_Shipyards Incom Corporation: they make x wings and other fighters vehicleshttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Incom_Corporation Arakyd Industries: made all sorts of droids http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Arakyd_Industries Baktoid Industries: they made the B1 and B2 battledroids they made most of the Confederacies stuff http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Baktoid_Combat_Automata Corellian Engineering Corporation: they made all sorts of transports and freighters for trading http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Corellian_Engineering_Corporation BlasTech Industries: Made all sorts of firearms and Weapons http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/BlasTech_Industries Tagge Company: Made Stuff but more importantly it was a major mining organization and harnessed resources http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tagge_Company And i know about half of these are subs off the techno union, but if we just had techno union, it was easily be a monopoly civ editor11 Aug 04, 2009, 08:04 PM Heres the current corporation list Mon Calamari Shipyards: Adds happiness with Luxury liners http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mon_Calamari_Shipyards Incom Corporation: they make x wings and other fighters vehicles http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Incom_Corporation Techno Union: they make most droids and many ships http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Techno_Union Zaltin Corporation: adds health and units heal faster (resource has Bacta) http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Zaltin_Corporation Tendrano Arms: allows advanced droids to be built (resource has Laminanium) http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tendrando_Arms Arkayd Industries: builds medium rank droids http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Arakyd_Industries Czerka Arms: makes different weapons for spies http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Czerka TC01 Aug 04, 2009, 08:32 PM is it possible for you coding guys to put in a species tab like the religions and corporations? Probably not. I can add the tab via python but to do what you describe would require an incredible overhaul of the game, in python, XML, and SDK, and I'm a novice in C++ coding (and even for people experienced in it, I bet it would be pretty hard). And anyway, what would be special about species to justify giving them a seperate category? That's why mechanically bonuses (translation: resources) work best, I think. civ editor11 Aug 04, 2009, 08:36 PM Yeah i say species should be bonuses. That was a good idea TC01 Jawa'sRevenge Aug 04, 2009, 10:01 PM Mon Calamari Shipyards: Make Mon Calamari Cruisers (heavy batteship for the Rebal Alliance) http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mon_Calamari_Shipyards Remember that the MonCals are not war like and only are making the cruisers due the enslavement and poor treatment of the MonCals by the Empire (They are converted pleasure liners) And i know about half of these are subs off the techno union, but if we just had techno union, it was easily be a monopoly It is Resources like titanium? Durasteel is a common shipbuilding material One idea on starships have hyperdrive upgrade promotions that allow a ship to travel faster through hyperspace (can only be done on certain planets of course) TC01 Aug 04, 2009, 10:05 PM Making all of that Techno Union would free up other corporation spots- do we have other ideas for corporations that can replace them? Remember not all corporations have to do the same thing (like allowing units to be built). Jawa'sRevenge Aug 04, 2009, 10:12 PM Zaltin Corporation based on Thyferra made bacta for the galaxy SoroSuub Corporation made many common tech goods based in Sullust Koensayr Manufacturing made starship components 1/5 of all star ships have a component from these guys and Y-Wings civ editor11 Aug 05, 2009, 06:13 AM I changed the list. Does anyone think something else should be added? Jawa'sRevenge Aug 06, 2009, 05:22 PM Zaltin Corporation: adds health (resource has Bacta) http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Zaltin_Corporation Could allow unit to heal faster as well T_KCommanderbly Aug 06, 2009, 07:19 PM didnt have time to look thrugh it but here is a list of companies in star wars http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Companies i would suggest picking the biggest ones with at least another company competeing with it civ editor11 Aug 06, 2009, 09:38 PM I've revised the list. How do you like it? Kissamies Aug 07, 2009, 07:21 AM If you want companies, I suggest picking the most known and those that had most impact in SW stories. Let's see: Sienar Fleet Systems (formerly Republic Sienar Systems) - TIE fighters KDY - As said, Star Destroyers. There's many capital ship manufacturing companies and quite a few shipyard worlds as well, however. SoroSuub - The Sullustan corp. They manufacture all sorts of things. CEC - All sorts of correlian ships. Freighters and smaller capital ships. Tendrano Arms - Lando's corp. Most famous for the YVH 1 droid. Starts to get significant in stories only in NJO era and later, tho. Czerka - Big corporation in KotOR. Shrunk into a smallish weapon manufacturer in the later eras. Incom - X-wing and some shuttles too, but mainly the X-wing and its precursor, Z-95. TaggeCo - Run by Tagge family. Caused some trouble for the heroes in 80's comics. Mostly mining, I agree. BlasTech - A lot of famous blaster models. Han's DL-44 and stormtroopers' E-11's for example. Didn't Arakyd make warheads too, at least concussion missiles? civ editor11 Aug 07, 2009, 08:10 AM Kdy, blasttech, and CEC are part of the Techno Union I've added Tendrano Arms, Sienar systems, and Incom already I'm adding Czerka civ editor11 Aug 07, 2009, 08:16 AM Heres the current corporation list Mon Calamari Shipyards: Adds happiness with Luxury liners http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mon_Calamari_Shipyards Incom Corporation: they make x wings and other fighters vehicles http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Incom_Corporation Techno Union: they make most droids and many ships http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Techno_Union Zaltin Corporation: adds health and units heal faster (resource has Bacta) http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Zaltin_Corporation Tendrano Arms: allows advanced droids to be built (resource has Laminanium) http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tendrando_Arms Arkayd Industries: builds medium rank droids http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Arakyd_Industries Czerka Arms: makes different weapons for spies http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Czerka How's this? Kissamies Aug 07, 2009, 04:00 PM Yes, not bad. Might consider Santhe/Sienar instead of Incom. Former is bigger, but latter is more heroic. Kind of matter of taste, I guess. Both are better than, say Koensayr, MandalMotors or Slayn & Korpil, for example. If there's some use for a "mining company" or something that otherwise gives bonuses for gathering resources, TaggeCo instead of Arakyd could be considered. Otherwise keep it. |
