Musketeer935 Aug 12, 2009, 01:49 PM Would that be if you have a damaged ship unit The Mechanic will fix it for ??? Gold?

Musketeer935 Aug 12, 2009, 01:55 PM Thats a ggod idea
and I'll change it to credits whats the file I'm going to need to modify or is it just a text file thing?
no idea, but i know its possible theyre credits in final frontier
civ editor11 Aug 12, 2009, 01:57 PM I was just wondering what i'd have to edit, but we definately should have it as credits.
Musketeer935 Aug 12, 2009, 02:01 PM umm... i think its TextInfosObjets and CIV_IVArtDefines_Interface, youll have to check it out, look at the final frontier stuff
TC01 Aug 12, 2009, 03:07 PM You don't have to make the text files like that- you can lump all of your text together.
Anyway, there's a change to CIV4YieldInfos.xml in FF for this, so you can double-check there.

Maybe a better name than :Hall of Fame of Great People, maybe without the Great People part, because thats confusing; great people are already in the game.
T_KCommanderbly Aug 13, 2009, 05:43 PM ^ya civ you can change whatever i was just trying to think of stuff up sort of fast
civ editor11 Aug 14, 2009, 06:35 AM I've changed a few things but not much it was a good idea
Kissamies Aug 14, 2009, 09:20 AM A couple inspired by the books:
Teljkon Vagabond (from Black Fleet Crisis trilogy, http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Teljkon_Vagabond)
A team from your civ have discovered the purpose of the mysterious Teljkon Vagabond. It is a colony ship of sorts meant to restore the lost Quella race.
- Help the Vagabond fulfil its purpose and melt the Quella homeworld.
Expensive, but good option. Free great person or culture.
- Tear the ship apart to learn from its unique technology.
Cheaper and evil. Science boost.
- We can't afford to do anything, let it go.
No cost, no reward.
Mad Jedi (from the ongoing Fate of the Jedi series)
The Jedi in your civ have started to randomly to suffer from psychotic breakdowns, believing that everyone around them are replaced by imposters and lashing out blindly against everything. (Effects might be something like the slave revolt in regular game. Obviously you got to have Jedi to get this.)
- Co-operate with Jedi Council to find the cure.
Expensive and causes a little unhappiness (the rogue jedi keep escaping and causing mischief), but solves the problem pretty fast.
- Incarcerate the rogue Jedi and have them frozen in carbonite.
Cheaper and doesn't cause unhappiness because it's seen as decisive action, but the problem goes away slower.
- The Jedi are dangerous vigilantes, exile them all.
Problem goes away, but so do the Jedi.
I'm not that happy with the latter, because I'd like to know what eventually happens with this plot, but the series is only 2 books in with 3rd coming out in few days and it'll be a 9 book series.
civ editor11 Aug 14, 2009, 10:15 AM These are great idea I'll add a few i know from the book to
Musketeer935 Aug 14, 2009, 05:04 PM There is a large population of people who gamble on Televised pod-racing in _______ (city)
-We should organize a pod-racing track and host events!
+2 Happiness
-50 Gold
-We should send fake government gamblers and rig the races, well make tons of credits!
-2 Happiness
+100 gold
- Im busy go away
Kissamies Aug 14, 2009, 07:09 PM Nice, but one minor point. It's common in SW universe to find cool sounding replacements for everyday items. A clock is chrono, for example. They don't drive cars, they drive speeders. They probably have holographic projectors instead of TVs, or if they have TVs, they call them "flatscreens or something. "Holovised" instead of "televised" maybe, or does that sound too lame?

Not legal in most parts of the galaxy

:rolleyes: this is mainly attributed to lazy authors, but some of it might be OK
Just no Caf dumbest idea ever
Kissamies Aug 15, 2009, 07:52 AM Lazy authors, eh? Ol' GL is worst of them all. At Lars farm they don't drink milk, but blue milk!
Jawa'sRevenge Aug 15, 2009, 09:43 AM Lazy authors, eh? Ol' GL is worst of them all. At Lars farm they don't drink milk, but blue milk!
But blue milk actually exists, or something like it
Kissamies Aug 15, 2009, 10:20 AM Hmm maybe... I guess the point I was clumsily trying to make that the "familiar, yet strange" style has been in Star Wars since the beginning and personally I like how the authors built on it. After all Star Wars is less science and more fiction and the point is to have Flash Gordon style adventures on Jabbas Sail barge, rather than pondering how the existence of droids would affect society or whatever.
Dumanios Aug 15, 2009, 12:17 PM Exactly.
Politus Aug 15, 2009, 05:05 PM A blatant ripoff of the "find holy peak" quest, but... keep in mind that it can happen for either Jedi OR Sith.
Jedi/Sith scholars are certain that the home planet of their kind is out there. Finding it and colonizing it before anyone else does will allow the Scholars to do much research into their origins. This quest is open to all factions.
If ??? Jedi/Sith temples are built, the Scholars should be able to triangulate where the planet is.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-Allow the Jedi/Sith to spread the gained knowledge across your empire; +1000 Research Points
-Glorify the accomplishment in the name of your empire; Starts a Golden Age
-Plunder the artifacts acquired; +1 unhappiness on all planets with a Jedi/Sith temple, +???? Credits.
-Emphasize the cultural significance of this event;+1 Happiness on all planets in your empire, +4 culture/turn on all planets.
TC01 Aug 15, 2009, 08:18 PM Just putting this out there- but any random events that need python I'll be happy to write the code for. :)
After you guys start plugging the events into the XML and see what can or can't be done by XML, tell me and I'll write the python. (Like for the "Origin Planet", quests need python).
Jawa'sRevenge Aug 15, 2009, 10:10 PM Hmm maybe... Star Wars is Space Opera not Sci-Fic its the fiction that keeps us apart from the TREK
civ editor11 Aug 16, 2009, 02:39 PM The Jedi and sith know where they come from
sith = Ziost
jedi = ossus
TC01 Aug 16, 2009, 02:46 PM The Jedi and sith know where they come from
sith = Ziost
jedi = ossus
He means the species, not the religion/organization. The Jedi/Sith are the scholars who have found the origin of whatever your species is.
civ editor11 Aug 16, 2009, 03:01 PM Oh my bad
Musketeer935 Aug 16, 2009, 04:54 PM The Jedi and sith know where they come from
sith = Ziost
jedi = ossus
Thats interesting that the Jedi religion origonated on a place named Ossus, that probably has something to do with the fact that in latin (maybe its greek i forget lol) Oss roughly translated means bone
civ editor11 Aug 16, 2009, 04:57 PM Star Wars takes many ideas from things like that
Politus Aug 16, 2009, 05:33 PM Actually, Tython was the home of the Jedi. But considering the necessity for exploration and colonization, Ossus/Tython and Ziost could need re-finding, ergo the "find the origin" spot. It's force religion origin, NOT species origin.
Just because the name is known doesn't mean that the location is known. For example, Ossus was abandoned for ~4000 years after the Cron Cluster was destroyed. Duh.
civ editor11 Aug 16, 2009, 05:39 PM But they refind it after the Yuuzhan Vong War. They remake the temple and start using it again during the legacy era.
Politus Aug 16, 2009, 06:51 PM Exactly, which would make this a perfect mission, because the tech advances, time advances. This doesn't start after the Yuuzhan Vong war otherwise there wouldn't be very much canon tech to advance to. Think up better excuses, pl0x.:mischief:
