View Full Version : A Universal MLF Controls File

I think if us Modmoder's could create a universally used and supplied MLF Controls file we could save users a lot of hassle, confusion and frustration. Here's a prototype. If I didn't include entries you feel we need, just post them. If we can all agree on this, then every modmoder should include the universal MLF in their download.

Modders, if you need an entry added, please request it in this thread. Also, if you need your entry re-ordered (Order matters in WoC, later modules with the same date overwrite earlier modules.), please post here in this thread.

Here's the contents of the file:

Updated for Gregac (I hope that's the right directory. If it isn't just tell me) and Generalstaff's Wonders.

Please, if you need your modmod added to the list, tell me. I don't always have the time to hunt down every modmod.

Updated for Unofficial 2.8 Patch.

I think you should ask Zappara and then moderator to make this a sticky thread as well :).

Wouldent it be good to have this direct in the Turturial Thread for MLF?

Sure, I can link this thread in my tutorial.

I missed something.

If I try to add this, it wants to overwrite zappara's 10k CIV4Modular....file with this 3.95k file.

If I do this what kind of problems will I create for myself?

What is the correct path?

JosEPh :/

None. I still included the entries necessary for Zappara's stuff, at least what's in the modules folder. I just expanded on it...

So you're telling me this smaller Control file will over write zappara's larger Control file and that this is OK?

Sorry for being dense, but I want to make sure.

No, no it's a legit question.

Long Story: When Zappara merged WoC lite into RoM, he just took their MLF files and added his own changes to the bottom, which resulted in a big file. Later, he deleted all the entries that were not important. This resulted in a smaller file, with only the essential entries. My Universal file is based upon the essentials file, with only the needed entries, plus the modmoder's entries.

Short Story: Yes, replace the big one with the small one, it will work fine.

You need to put in the first post what it contains and what has been updated, this is just my opinion.

Um, no offense, but I HAVE. From day 1, you can see the contents of the entire file, and the recently updated!

Please read more carefully.

I didn't realize that once I replaced the files that I would have to start a new game. :p :noob:

That's what I get for being "old and slow.......".

Updated for 2.8. New additions are Builds and Fortifications!

Afforess, just to give you a heads up on the Universal MLF file, I will be changing my ANM entry to Civ_Fuehrer when official RoM 2.8 is released due to a possible second modmod (RoMiS) I am hoping to take up.

Okay, I'll add a new entry for Civ_Fuehrer, but I want to leave ANM, because someone might use it with 2.71 or some strange nonsense....

I stuck you right above my modules. Any particular spot you need? I just know mine need to load after yours because I have some ANM dependencies.

Another day in paradise...

It seems that everyone is altering for their MLF's for their own modmod's to remove the spaces in there directories, but no one is telling me. I hate to be a grouch, but any time anyone deviates from the MLF on the OP (I keep the one in the Spoiler up to date too, FYI), could you please post the change here? I'm looking at you, Dancing Hoskuld and Generalstaff. (And any other wise guys.)

Otherwise, it defeats the whole point of having a universal MLF. It's not very universal if everyone's is different than everyone else's.

Sorry, I forgot about it, 2.8 has created a whirlwind of activity here. "Custom_Buildings" is going to need to be included as well as "Holy_Wars" due to BULL (no spaces in file path).

I will need a "Custom_Units" folder for an update; I'm using it as the file path for promotions. The update is about a week away.

Can I? Of course I can, I don't have any physical or mental limitations.

Will I? Well, it doesn't matter if I will or not, as I already have. ;)

Pardon my poor grammar :D. Serves me right as I deserve this karma when I nitpicked your spelling before :D.

No need. It's included in RoM and AND already by default.

Dancing Hoskuld

@Afforess & Zappara, btw there are a few entries that could be removed. In particular the wonders by GeneralStaff now that they have been moved into a pack.

E.G. Brandenburg Gate, Neuschwanstein, Leaning Tower of Pisa, and RoM Modular Wonders II

I also expect to merge AAranda's and mine into one pack, if I ever get healthy again. ;) It has been one virus after another this last month. I will be glad when the hole in the wall is fixed and I can use a heater again -5C at night is to cold to be without a heater!
