I consider star wars supported by three pillars (people) they being Lucas, Ralph McQuary, and John Williams without them Star Wars is not Star Wars.

The Music of Star Wars is great but doubt we could use it (could we?)

In the area of music,we could use the Imperial March as the Imperial Diplomacy Music and The Opening theme for the Main Menu.

If that music could be used, I'd have a lot of ideas for various diplomacy musics. If not, I'm pretty much stumped.

...?

Why couldn't we use it?

Granted I don't get how Civ Sounds and Audio works, but everything is a .wav file. If you could get the music in that form, and then have someone on the XML end put it together, it would work fine.

I is not that it would be hard adding the music (which I could do easily, I have ALL the songs ALL of them: Movies, TV shows, Video Games) but the issue is copywrite. I doubt Bantha Music would care, but you never know.

I was thinking the opening menu should be Imperial March, or Duel of the Fates.
A chunk of Emperors throne room would be good imperial diplomacy.

I'd also go for some bit of RotJ music with the Emperor motif for Palpatine at least. The Imperial March could be for other Empire/Remnant leaders, though I'd know some excellent music for those from TIE Fighter provided that midi music will do.

For opening menu I might consider something a little more calm, like ESB finale.

The Cantina Music would be sweet for something; idk what, maybe jsut backround (although that would be obnoixious)

I guess it could be Jabba the Hutts diplo music (it should be Jedi Rocks, but that songs stinks:p)

Jabba's theme would seem to be obvious choice for Hutt music, or if you want some in-universe stuff, there's also that "baroque" piece. Oh, and why I'm not against adding Black Sun even though it seems and odd choice for a civ is because there is a Xizor's theme. A pretty good one too if you just take the one and half minutes or so from the end.

What song would we use as Xizors theme, and is it copyrighted?

Kissamies

Probably as copyrighted as any Star Wars music, sadly. Shadows of the Empire was a big multimedia project and it included a soundtrack.

Unless we find some uncopyrighted music we'll have to use the generic music.

copyrighted music? most songs you can download off the internet and use freely,

We have to make sure the songs we download aren't copyrighted. Most free internet downloads aren't legal. if you have found one that's legal for us to download use and distribute we can use it.

Some of those are probably copyrighted too, though. Haven't looked at them so closely.

Is the space battle music going to be the opening menu music?

EDIT: He said he couldn't attach them because of the size.

To T_KCommanderbly: Attach multiple 7z files (they have pretty good compression rates, that should make it work.

Sep 08, 2009, 08:17 PM
for the revenge of the sith main title music its modified so that it doesnt play the star wras theme, it plays the music directly after

@Jawa its the victory celebration then its in the credits of episode III too, and imperial march is what i meant to put:)

http://www.2shared.com/file/7666683/c760efc8/Sound.html - this was the quickest way of uploading it (download the file where it says save to your PC) and i tried doing it in RAR and ZIP (this ones in zip) so ya ill try 7z next time

post if you have problems with downloading (i have never used this site before)

I'm currently using the star wars main theme as the main menu music should I change that?
What should each piece of music be used for?

T_KCommanderbly
Sep 08, 2009, 08:52 PM
oh ya when you put it in civ editor just say "yes to all" its the same stuff that you orginally had, nothing should change (i just took it from the star wars mod sound folder then worked from there)

is that what you meant?

and you should only have to XML the civilizations/leaders and the in game music everything else should work

ok this is what you have to do

in the xml/gameinfo folder use the Erainfos, look at the AS2D_Ancient_Soundtrack, switch every one with music1 music 2 and so on (for every era do the same thing)

^if you dont want to do that yet since ill have it since i did the eras you dont have to but inorder for it to work imediatly you should

after your done doing that open xml/audio/audio2dscripts look for the exact thing you just replaced AS2D_ANCIENT_SOUNDTRACK, copy that whole thing then put change it to what you put in the eras XML for both entrys.

after ur done with that open xml/audio/audiodefines then look for the exact thing you replaces which would be SONG_ANCIENT_SOUNDTRACK copy that part then put in the name that you replaced it with in the audio2dscript, then put where the file is located and thats it

the victory and defeat should automatically work i think (i may be wrong might want to test)

if i dont make any since i can just do it for you

ya, id have to say though its going to have to be limited to the same sounds because of the lack on the internet, i know for sure i can get TIE fighters and X-wing and lots of laser sounds though
