since there are no mods for making bigger than huge mapts that i have seen for FFP, is it possible to use a map script like smartmap or perfect world 2 to make maps for FFP? will it be missing stuff?

View Full Version : bigger than huge maps? adecoy95 Aug 17, 2009, 04:08 PM since there are no mods for making bigger than huge mapts that i have seen for FFP, is it possible to use a map script like smartmap or perfect world 2 to make maps for FFP? will it be missing stuff? 2Hydroclopse Aug 17, 2009, 04:24 PM If you don't mind modding some, there is a way to add another size setting or two for bigger -or smaller- map sizes, these changes would then apply to all scripts. Most scripts I've tried don't mind the size-ups. Oh, be careful though, with FFH2,FF,FF+ bigger than huge maps have -or at least had- a big chance of memory allocation error especially with MP, due to being so massive -my computer wasn't the newest at the time, so you might be able to handle giant stuff better-. It would have been amazing. By the way, make sure the dimensions you use follow the 1.6 formula (If the dimensions are AxB, then A/B should equal about 1.6; it doesn't have to be precise, in fact make sure to use whole numbers, but be as close as possible. Another thing, WB does not enjoy opening bigger than huge map sizes; in BtS if you built Stonehenge WB would then start to work, but I'm not sure if there is an equivalent in FF. The biggest I ever tried was 48x30, I can only imagine how big 260x260 would have been *shivers*. adecoy95 Aug 19, 2009, 03:51 PM for your viewing pleasure 256x160 the reason it wasent working before was because smartmap hasent been updated in like a year or something, and it was crashing on any size i chose http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=225077&stc=1&d=1250719316 its big :crazyeye: [to_xp]Gekko Aug 20, 2009, 01:35 AM what mapscript is that? the map seems pretty nice. Korias Aug 20, 2009, 09:35 AM Planet Generator 0.68. It can override the map size to make an absolutely gigantic map. But memory allocation is an issue- be prepared to reboot your game a couple of times as things get fun. adecoy95 Aug 20, 2009, 11:21 AM its a mapscript called full of resources, i manually changed mapsize. the map type is "tectonics". it also seems to spawn FFH stuff, so thats a bonus i get a memory allocation failure about once every 30-60 turns, not too bad... i set it to autosave every turn, and to store 15 autosaves instead of 4, works out pretty good. How you do dat? adecoy95 Aug 20, 2009, 01:35 PM C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\ open the civ4config file and change these ; The maximum number of autosaves kept in the directory before being deleted. MaxAutoSaves = 15 ; Specify the number of turns between autoSaves. 0 means no autosave. AutoSaveInterval = 1 FireBlaze Aug 22, 2009, 10:10 PM Aight, thanks. |
