i have only made 5 units so far but in every instance i have encountered the same problem.. inexplicable crapped up mutated mess of a model... somehow i managed to fix it in every instance so far but unfortunatly just by accident or at least i don't know how i did it. but i am getting so tired and discouraged by this re-occuring bogey that unless i understand what i am doing wrong and how to prevent it happening or at least how exactly to fix it i am tempted to give up. I have trawled the forums and all the tutorials for solutions but nothing is written to give me a clue, giving me the impression i am the only one to encounter this problem. can't be true. so i am asking can anyone help me understand and fix this problem. (i am a bit drunk at the time of writing so forgie general incoherance.)

Could you be a little more specific as to what is happening to your model?

By "mutated mess", do you mean the model is completely distorted in weird, strange ways? If yes, check your SkinPartitions - if they're wrong (for example if you copy-and-paste models together this can happen), it usually does that to models.

Yeah i think it is something to do with skin partitions/skin instances. What is a quick reliable way to fix it?

Yeah i think it is something to do with skin partitions/skin instances. What is a quick reliable way to fix it?Something that works for me (most of the time) is importing the model into blender (make sure that the mesh is still parented to the bones!), exporting it again (with the skin partition creation checked). Since the freshly exported model loses lots of nodes (like the visibility controllers etc.), I then copy the skinpartition node in question from the new model into the original (messed up) model and change the reference of the NiTriShape node to the new skinpartition in Nifskope (direct node editing with Nifskope is actually very powerful, but a bit fiddly as well).

Cheers, LT.
