previews:

better speeds ingame, obviously:
(run - default - fortify - attack (x2) - victory - fortify - attack - death)
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa176/ruby_sauce/BSprev1.gif
a soldier on a bicycle, perhaps as an upgrade of horse mounted units. I just made it because I remembered an image of dutch solders on bikes from the 2nd ww from my history book, from like 5 years ago.
sounds included.
I know the bike doesn't look very good, but I tried the best I could, as I am not good at making models...
oh well, ENJOY!

Leaven Aug 26, 2009, 10:06 PM Actually, I think the bike is fine. I mean, I knew what is was right away... Great unit, I really want to fit it into a mod somewhere!
Big Rob Aug 26, 2009, 10:11 PM Can you make a skateboard grenadier to go with him ? :)
Seriously, cool work dude !
general-jcl Aug 26, 2009, 11:07 PM Excellent and original unit
Thanks
General 666 Aug 26, 2009, 11:09 PM Exeptional Unit ,Ruby ! Our FIRST Biker ...

Conan2002 Aug 27, 2009, 12:03 AM I remember an image of solders on bikes from the first ww too.
Thank you Ruby!
Plotinus Aug 27, 2009, 04:30 AM This looks really good. You've animated it well. Watch out Singapore!
Balthasar Aug 27, 2009, 05:24 AM I'd like to see a version of this with a 19th century character on the bike. A policeman, perhaps? A gentleman with a straw hat?
Vuldacon Aug 27, 2009, 05:43 AM Another Good Special Unit
...Should be Great Fun in Game :goodjob:
Virote_Considon Aug 27, 2009, 06:50 AM Wow! That's awesome! :goodjob:
Grandraem Aug 27, 2009, 07:20 AM You crazy man.

BadKharma Aug 27, 2009, 07:36 AM Ruby you come up with the most interesting new units great job!
W.i.n.t.e.r Aug 27, 2009, 08:28 AM Hiya- nice work and an interesting unit. The bike is quite fine, actualy. What I am a bit at odds with is the weapon and the way it is attached. IMO, it best be attached on the soldier's back..

nick0515 Aug 27, 2009, 08:41 AM Sweet unit Ruby! Really unique. The bike looks great too, so don't worry!
Big Rob Aug 27, 2009, 08:49 AM Is that a machine gun on the handle bars?
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude !!!
Tank_Guy#3 Aug 27, 2009, 10:55 AM Actually, I think the bike is fine. I mean, I knew what is was right away... Great unit, I really want to fit it into a mod somewhere!
Could go into EFZI I'd say. It could also go into a World War II scenario, as I know for a fact that the Germans had bicycle units.
I also agree with Winter, the bike is for transportation. When in combat the soldier ditches the bike and fights as infantry.

themanuneed Aug 27, 2009, 02:48 PM ...cool unit anyway ;) and quite an astonishment for all of us :D Where do you find such crazy ideas?
Big Rob Aug 27, 2009, 03:03 PM In Vietnam, the Communist forces used civilians to transport supplies on bicycles. I wonder if anyone has designed a unit like that, and how could that type of "civilian"/worker unit assist in the military aspect of the game.
ruby_sauce Aug 27, 2009, 03:14 PM I also agree with Winter, the bike is for transportation. When in combat the soldier ditches the bike and fights as infantry.
well, that would be kind of awkward with the fortify animation, and with the victory animation :/. plus, when I thought of this unit, I just made it like this cuz thats how it was in my head :p
...cool unit anyway ;) and quite an astonishment for all of us :D Where do you find such crazy ideas?
you don't want to know what goes on in my head...
Big Rob Aug 27, 2009, 03:25 PM It could used as scout/explorer unit with combat abilities...huh?
themanuneed Aug 27, 2009, 03:27 PM you don't want to know what goes on in my head...
Now I know :
I just made it like this cuz thats how it was in my head :p.

thats not even the tip of the iceberg
thats like the smell from the distance of the tip of the iceberg
:crazyeye:
Ares de Borg Aug 28, 2009, 04:11 AM Original unit, reminds me of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CTPLUcQAjk).
Balthasar Aug 28, 2009, 07:08 AM Naked women on bicycles? Wonderful diversionary force, best as an m-unit.
But seriously, I would think the most useful bicycle forces would be 1) Asian, as both hit-and-run and as suicide bombers; 2) French resistance, in both world wars, or generic resistance; 3) 19th century, for flavor; or 4) kids of any era: a "paperboy" who throws bombs, for instance.
Ozymandias Aug 28, 2009, 10:58 AM Exeptional Unit ,Ruby ! Our FIRST Biker ...
Thanks:goodjob:
First PEDAL biker - Wyrm did a number of the motorized kind.
Best,
Oz

I made a Harley and a german BMW with a sidecar.

General 666 Aug 28, 2009, 06:07 PM I made a Harley and a german BMW with a sidecar.
Your BMW would make a good upgrade for Rubys Bike here.;)
Additionally I would like to mention Aaglos Motor-Bike with an Orc as driver.:scan:
Blue Monkey:
A not released Unit on your in-game screenie ??? UPLOAD IT !!! OR ... :trouble:
:joke:
Blue Monkey Aug 28, 2009, 06:13 PM Blue Monkey:
A not released Unit on your in-game screenie ???As careful readers of the steampunk project threads will notice, that's a screenshot of a unit & a resource in the same tile. for those who only travel into the future at 1 sps: why would I request ruby_sauce to make a unit that already existed?
On that note, are you keeping an eye on this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=302186), ruby_sauce?
:coffee:
Mithadan Aug 29, 2009, 12:41 AM That's pretty hardcore. Good idea, ruby_sauce.
PredatorFett Aug 29, 2009, 03:45 PM This would work well for a WW2 pacific scenario/mod, particularly one based on the Japanese occupation of Singapore.
timerover51 Aug 30, 2009, 12:11 PM But seriously, I would think the most useful bicycle forces would be 1) Asian, as both hit-and-run and as suicide bombers; 2) French resistance, in both world wars, or generic resistance; 3) 19th century, for flavor; or 4) kids of any era: a "paperboy" who throws bombs, for instance.
I have a handbook on Viet Cong mines and boobytraps that has some interesting pictures and descriptions of bicycle bombs.
Dumanios Aug 30, 2009, 01:07 PM This is quite the eyecatcher.
wolf_brother Sep 01, 2009, 10:09 AM Ruby you come up with the most interesting new units great job!
