This thread is for any role playing for the Imperial Dynasty Game 2. This thread is public, and anyone is welcome to post. I'll start off the role play.

Sereus stood before his family in the center of the frozen wood. His teeth began to chatter, as a light snow began to fall. The Reichkaiser family numbered 12 strong, including Sereus, who was the head. With his two brothers, and their wives and children, making up 10. Leaving him and his young son, Vandal, to make up the remaining two.

Sereus was a tall and thin man with long brown hair and stone grey eyes. He wore thin animal skin clothing, as did the rest of his people. He carried a pack on his back, and a spear, as did all the men.

Vandal had pure white hair, blending into the surroundings. He, like his father had stone grey eyes and was about knee high to his tall father.

When they stopped for rest, Sereus spoke up.

"My family, we have travelled a great distance and I believe that our journey may be coming to a halt. We have found the tracks and remains of men." He paused," And we may find others like us. So, be prepared to give up our lifestyle that we have become accustomed to, and begin anew!" With that everyone left out a cry.

"Lang lebe unsere Familie!"

The Octavian people are nomadic gatherers led by their greatest warrior, Civius. For centuries his people had followed the seasons migrating north then south as far as the great river. They followed great beasts who aided their survival. This winter was unusually harsh and his people were dying, starved for food and freezing in their sleep. With no other options left he led his people to the Great River that was now frozen solid. Standing upon a large hill he proclaimed to the Octavian people "We must cross now or risk perishing in this white hell!"

The lands beyond the river were unknown to the Octavian people. Myths and legends of terrible beasts and monsters plagued their minds. However they trusted Civius and he was right, to stay was certain death. So they crossed the great river into the unknown....

After months of traveling the new lands they had escaped the frozen north. One morning Civius' son Rayne came before him upon returning from a scouting mission. "Father we have come upon the remains of another people." Just as Civius started to respond to his son he saw a tall man in the distance approaching their camp.......

Sorry guys. Once I got writing, I couldn't stop.

Huberian Ancient Scroll No. 38
Final Entry

"Yes death, it is I. Finally I believe we are prepared to meet. For these years of toil to see what has become before my eyes, I cannot but embrace your cold charoit to the end. If only I had time to train the little one. I know he could carry on as..."

It had finally occured. With the writing tool hitting the ground in the small hut, the little boy rushed over to his father.

"I think papa has past father," said the boy

The hardened warrior Chief of the Huber tribe looked over.

"Indeed, indeed he has," replied the father.

This was the time of the final ancient battle to decide who would rule the Seven tribes of the Neider Valley. It was once a glorius place where man controled his fate, and each was a brother. The advances that were present were unseen by any other. Most outsiders who ventured to the distant land became one of it's own. But finally came the time when a feud developed. Man began forming common bonds with only his kind.

Then the tribe wars occured. They were an awful business where man fought man, and took the wives of the fallen, and even killed the children of the fallen. Soon the valley was split. Out of the vast number of people that filled the days with such laughter, now there was only hatred, and despair.

From the wars came the final seven that we see today. Not more than a hundred or so lived within each. Numbers in the past were never counted. There was never a thought that members of your own kindred would not exist. However, now it was of the utmost importance.

So the battle occured and great destruction was brought upon all. Not even four houses remained. The alliances that developed before the bloodbath were soon forgotten as openings in another's flak appeared. Almost five nights had come and gone since the battle was started prematurely, and all that looked upon eachother were six Drakonian males, eight Dankonia males, and fourteen Huberian Males including their chief. It was not the loss of another house, but that of just one more man that ended the frail.

A young man had appeared before them. Not being more than fifteen years old. He carried blond hair, with radiant blue eyes. With the sun to his back, not many could make out the figure before them. But when they did, they never forgot the sight that stood before them.

"Davidus of Huber, you are my weakest son. You stay with the elder when you should be conquering our enemies, and destroying their families. Why do you now come before a group of hardened men? Is it to tell us another one of your stories," questioned the leader of the Huber's.

"No father, I have only come to tell you all one thing," replied Davidus.

"Look before you father. All that is left is the men that I call my friend's fathers. You may not believe that such foes could call eachother that, but we do. You can stay here and fight all you like, but know that I have taken it upon myself to clear everyone form this barren valley. To search for what you will never know. The pass will be covered soon, and you will not make it. All of your destinies lie with eachother," exclaimed the son.

The boy was right. He had taken all of the others, Drakonians, Dankans, and Huberians out of the valley and towards the white lands. Some of the men had begun the task of sabotaging the entrance to the valley, and by the fifth day they were ready. The boy did one final act however. Upon the father hearing this show by his son, he lundged towards him with his sword. The boy never leaving the spot of the sun, merely moved to the side and exposed his sword that he had been carrying. The father fell, and die immediatly there after.

With this exposition done, the remaining chief of the Drakonian and Dankan tribes gave their oath to the boy.

Five generation have past since that day, and five great leaders of the now united Huberian Tribe have come and gone. The newest leader, Draknith, has decided to take up refuge in a small forrest, on top of a hill, overlooking a river.

Three nights after arriving, the young scout of the tribe came before Draknith.

"What is it my dear boy, why have you come running so as to keep you from catching your breathe," questioned the leader?

"My lord, I have just seen outsiders wondering the valley below," responded the scout.

"So, the time has come. My friends, we go to meet our new dawn," exclaimed Draknith.

And with that, the three council tribe leaders went down to meet their new friends, or possibly foes...

Sereus was not a weak man, but when he saw the other men atop the hill, he nearly fell to his knees in shock. They looked much like Sereus and his family, save the Reichkiser's height and stone eye color.

Sereus met their head, Civius, first.

"Hallo." Sereus managed to get out, before realizing, they did not speak the same. Sereus was confounded by the way they spoke. Although similar, Sereus did not completely understand. After about an hour of trying to speak to each other, they resorted to hand signals. But what confused Sereus next, was that they numbered far greater than the Reichkasier family. Finally after another ten minutes of attempted communication, someone yelled.

"Hallo," exclaimed Draknith!

"My lord are you sure you know what you are saying," questioned Mencius.

"Well the other guy said it about 10 mins ago, and noone's fighting yet," replied Draknith.

The three council members came to the area where the others were meeting. Although they seemed unable to speak, using simple hand language, they turned towards Rhonin when he spoke the ancient Neider word for mutes.

"Perhaps they understand you," questioned Draknith, "keep speaking".

So Rhonin did just that, he began introducing the three of them and asking for the other's names.

Only time would tell if they understood...

Sereus stared at the men who had joined them. Finally, someone said 'Hallo' and Sereus smiled.

"Hallo myea friends, ve are from the far nort, and vish to unite our three clanns." After he had finished speaking, eveyone stared at him as though he were insane. Sereus frowned, and then pulled out a small animal skin bag. He opened it to reveal several black, shiny rocks. The others seemed so mesmerized that it distracted them from the impending beast.

As the tall man approached, Rayne looked at Civius who was as still as a statue. The men from Civius camp began taking up clubs and awaited word from their leader. "Put your clubs away men, do you fear an unarmed elder with his family?" Civius walked a ways to meet the man at the valleys edge. After coming up with a method to communicate they heard a shout in the distance and yet more men appeared in the valley. They did not seem to be hostile so Civius and the elder allowed them to approach.

"Shiny rocks from the Great River" Civius thought as the elder opened a bag before him. Just then Meka, Civius' eldest daughter leaped from the tree above, club in hand, raised for an attack. "No Meka" screamed Civius, "They are frien.." Before he could finish the sentence he saw the beast almost upon them.....

The beast was absolutely demonic. It had four massive legs, and had two horns coming from its head. With sharp and jagged teeth, and a thick skin, it caused several women to faint on the spot. However, all able bodied men, grabbed a spear and ran at it.

Sereus and his brothers ran at it from the front, while Civius his men, and the three other chiefs attempted to flank the beast. In an instant the beast rushed at Sereus' brother, Gereus , which knocked him off his feet and broke several bones. Civius and his men manged to back it into a corned and the three chiefs readied to kill. Sereus threw his spear at the beast, striking it at shoulder. After a shriek in pain, it shuddered and collapsed, revealing a spear lodged in its back, and a man standing behind the beast.

Journal of Rhonin of the Hubers:

Meeting Day

... It was amazing... seeing the great beast of a man destroy what everyone is calling a 'hornspig' now!

... Soon after the engagement everyone began cheering and it was Draknith who approached the man from the house of Artok and extended his hand in congradulations. Both shook and afirmed a common bond between the two. Soon everyone was celebrating the likes no one had ever seen before. I even think I noticed one of the females from the house of Octavia looking at me. Of course I remained calm, although I wonder what Draknith would say.

Journal of Lord Draknith:

... At the grand council after the destruction of the Beast, all of the leaders of the seperate houses affirmed a most honorable of bonds. Although at first everyone enjoyed a great laugh from our mutual votes for emperor, we all agreed that Jao, the Beastkiller, had the best plan for our imediate goals. We all took oaths to protect one and all against anyone who would invade our mutual freedom. Only problem, is that we still do not have a common name for our land. Perhaps a discussion for another day...

After the strange man slew the beast Civius ran to his daughter Meka. She was the first to confront it and she was thrown to the ground his massive horn barely missing her head. Once he realized she was OK he thanked the beastslayer and all the families celebrated with a great feast.

The elders decided our tribes should unite and we chose the beastslayer to lead our people. "In this valley our people shall find a home and wander no more" Civius told his family that night, "in the valley of the beast."

Journal of Lord Draknith of Huber:

It seemed like yesterday when Jao had slayed the beast and brought to a group of strangers a common bond. A common bond that had matured and grown into a full fledge society. After the election by the Council of Houses, Jao I immediatly got to work leading his people. It was rather uncanny, but it seemed that where one family lacked, another picked up. For example the House of Huber has great planners. We have developed the plans for nearly all aspects of the small village we are calling home. However, we are not the mightiest of people and where we were unable to put forth the full manpower required to build the developments the House of Octavia steped in. Quite a glorious group of people we have become. Hopefully the stability will remain, but if I know man, I know it cannot last forever...

Official Records of the Grand House of Huber:

Day 71:

The House of Huber has completed it's mission today, and delivered the plans for the new palace where the Emperor will live, and where the families may conduct their business. We are awaiting confirmation by the Emperor.

Lord Draknith has made his first official edict on a matter concerning our glorious house.

First Edict of Lord Draknith, Head of the House of Huber:

Concerning the matter of interhouse marriage, I Lord Draknith proclaim that the House of Huber will not punish any individual for developing relationships outside of our common house. It is our goal, that this society develop and grow to it's full potential, and I believe that such arrangements will be necesssary.

Official Demand from the Grand House of Huber to the House of Octavia:
Will the leader of the House of Octavia provide the Grand House of Huber it's proposal for the marriage of Rhonin, Grand Prince of Huber to Meka of Octavia.

(Just figured I would get some role-playing going, and maybe start working on my House's Family Tree. Thought that an arrangement between two houses might help boost the story, and lead to even larger concepts latter in the game. Let me know what you think)

It was almost immediatly after Joao (Jao or Joao?) slayed the mighty beast, that we settled in this land. The Grand House of Huber began developing the Imperial palace where His Highness Joao I would rule from. And while the House of Octavia began planing the city, Sereus and his brother Reyyk ( Gereus had died from his wounds) began training warriors. The women of the Reichkaiser were also busy, as they were building some of the huts they were to be living in. While the children mingled with the other three house's children, save Vandal who trained with the warriors. As much as he could that is.

Civius was busy directing his men constructing the Emperors Palace when a messenger from the House of Huber approached the Construction Hut. He was escorted in by Civius' Imperial Gaurd. After reading the inscribed tablet Civius looked at the man as if he'd punched him in the stomach. Meka was a warrior as much as any of her 12 brothers, she cared not for the social engagements of her royal family. However, the union of the Families was more important then the desires of his daughter. "Tell Draknith there shall be a wedding and I will give my daughter to the House of Huber. I pray this sacrifice will bring our families together and benefit our future Empire....."

It was after Vandal began his small warrior training program that most people began taking notice of how advanced the House of Reichkaiser was at tactical engagements.

"I have only seen Lord Draknith display such feats, but their entire house seems to be as one cohesive unit," mentioned Lucius, son of Mencius of the House of Huber.

The boy was so taken by the display that he couldn't help but imitate the warriors. He began moving his arms and legs in the same striking motions, and found that he had moved within the ranks of the others without being aware. Many of the House of Huber had begun looking on with others at the boy, and began cheering him on.

It was at about that time that Vandal from the House of Reichkaiser came over and knocked Lucius to the ground.

"You are not a warrior, and you cannot fight as one of us," exclaimed the boy!

Lucius picked himself up, and lundged towards Vandal. A small scuffle ensued, but before anyone could intervene Vandal from Reichkaiser got up, and extended his hand to Lucius to help him up.

"You fight good for a barbarian," responded Vandal as Lucius got himself up.

"Barbarian... what's that," questioned Lucuis

"You are not from our people, so you are a barbarian," responded Vandal

"Oh, you mean 'outsider'," replied Lucius.

From that point the two boys were inseperable, and proved to all that the houses could learn more than they ever thought from each other.

The display between the two boys spread quickly threw the small village, and even Lord Draknith asked Lord Sereus if the boy could enter into the sacred rights administered by his house in the field of battle. What the response will be is still not known at this time...

Sereus had shown no emotion when Lord Draknith asked if Vandal would like to join their sacred warrior practice. Heretical nonsense, Sereus thought, but it would show Vandal about other cultures.

"On one condition," Sereus had started, " your son joins us on the Great Hunt."

A Proclamation by Lord Draknith of the Grand House of Huber:

In an attempt to promote the advancement of this society, and create bonds of an unbreakable nature, I Lord Draknith do hereby proclaim that Meka of the House of Octavia and Rhonin of the House of Huber will be joined in a bond of matrimony. This does much to bring not just our two houses together, but to bring us all together.

With this bond, I sanctify the proper succession of their offspring as that of my own. May their lives together be long, and may the Houses of Octavia and Huber last for centuries to come!

Sereus had shown no emotion when Lord Draknith asked if Vandal would like to join their sacred warrior practice. Heretical nonsense, Sereus thought, but it would show Vandal about other cultures.

What I meant in the dialogue was that if young Lucius could join your warrior group, and train as they do. The Huberians are not the warriors in this story, in fact I leave that up to your house if that's alright.

OOC: Yes, how I see it thus far is the Hubers are the more Philosphical and creative, hence the choice of civ leader, the Reichkaisers are more less a warrior culture (like the Spartans of Greece) so it fits that he was named General, and the Octavians are builders and craftsmen with a history of warrior culture. This is all reflected in our storylines thus far and in our choices for civ leader.

Lord Draknith met up with Sereus sometime after dinner.

"So I hear one of my little ones wants to learn the warrior code. I here your group is the most advanced in the art of war," said Lord Draknith.

The two great leaders sat in the small hut where many came to take rest and discussed the prospects of the training.

"The training will be intense, and once you enter into the bond, there is no walking out. Plus, there is the matter of the hunt," explained Sereus.

Lord Draknith looked upon the leader and followed every word.

"It is going to be necessary for my house to learn the best practices of war. For one day we may be called upon to lead our warriors into battle," responded Lord Draknith.

"I will speak with the boy, and if he wishes to make the commitment, I will allow him to enter into the bond. The only thing I would ask is that you not make is easier on him. That when on the hunt he be placed with your warriors, and be allowed to make the glorious kill if he is able to. Those would be my conditions to you Lord Sereus," responded Lord Draknith.

With that said the two shook hands and parted ways. It was already late, and Lord Draknith still needed to make it back to young Lucius tent where his family would surely be getting ready for bed.

'Perhaps Lucius will become a great warrior..' Lord Draknith pondered as he made his way through the village...

(I have been role playing as if we still had not formed our civilization yet. I would still see us as a goodie hut on the map. Can't wait to get a look at our Empire.)

The Arkan Warrior Culture

As I reflect on my duties as Head of the Reichkaiser Family, I recall the traditions of the Reichkaiser ways. Although our family name is the Reichkaisers, we belong to a larger group. The Arkans. Our civilization had once been united, if only for a short time, under my three greats-grandfather Arkus the Great. We had settled in a fertile valley, known as Valakan. It was there where our culture flourished, and collapsed.

In our culture, a man was bound to a single woman for life. Disregarding the rule would result in death. Same with a woman. When a child was born, male or female, it would be kissed by family head, if worthy, if the child was not deemed worthy, the child was not kissed and killed. All male children were born to fight as a warrior, they were hard-wired killers from birth. The female children were raised by their mother, as either a farmer, or builder. When he or she was 10, they were paired with a future partner. When a women turned 14, she left her family to live with her husbands family, and begin her job as either farmer of builder. From then on, there would be no other ceremony a woman would participate in, unless they requested to join their husband or son on the Great Hunt.

Male children, at age 17, would go on the Great Hunt with their Father, Uncles, another designated by the head of the family, and Mother if she requested. The Hunt began when their members would go into the forest, and search for Lakoas, or "Great Beast", with the child (or children) at the lead. After one night, they would return with their best kill, if it was accepted by the rest of the family they would eat the beast and the child or children could be accepted as full Arkan warriors. From then on, the partners would build a home and raise a family. At any moment, the men of the house could be called into combat.

There have been 10 Arkan Kings:

Arkas I -UN
Arkas II-UN
Arkas III-UN
Lakansar-DIS
Dielos-DIS
Severos-DIS
Ano-DiS
Arkus the Great-UN
Hielos-DIS
Arkas IV-DIS

As I finish this entry, I dread on the day when we were scattered by the day it rained fire, and only the Reichkasiers and two other small families remained. We were forced into a nomadic society. Never-the-less, we upold all our traditions to this day

"Over there, men!"
Civplayah was very cautious in the process of founding the city. In fact, it took them years just to walk across a spot of land to get to where they wanted to found it.
"It has fresh water. We'll survive and prosper."
"Civplayah, what shall we name it?"
"Hmmm. Why don't we name it Artok. After my family's name."
"Yes, my lord. We shall spread the word"
Civplayah smiled at the thought of his own city, his own tribe. That night, he went to sleep in his Imperial Hut.

Sereus was amazed at the progress they had made on the city. He had even walked onto the coast and saw the massive amount of water sprawled before them. But Sereus had serious business to attend to, the Great Hunt. After several months of training, tomorrow they would set off, Vandal, Sereus, and Lucius.

The next morning, they set off. All armed with a spear, and nothing more. Vandal and Lucius seemed to be totally insync as they cornered and killed a deer moments after entering the forest. Sereus was amazed, he had not found a single creature until the second day, when he had found a large, tusked creature that was covered in fur. As the day progressed Lucius and Vandal killed animal after animal, from deers to squirrels. None-the-less, the night caught up with them, and they were forced to camp. After Sereus started a fire, and Lucius cooked up some deer, did the true story begin.

"Father," Vandal had asked, " How far are we from Artok?"

"One day's march. Why?" It was then that Sereus saw smoke in the distance, and there was a rustling in the bushes. Immediately, Sereus grabbed his spear, then the raid began.

Seven men rushed through the bushes, armed with small hatchets. The one at the head, rushed Sereus. He reacted quickly, side stepping him, and causing him to miss. The man spun to face, Sereus, only to find the head of his spear, lodged into his chest. He collapsed to the ground, and Sereus found his next opponent. This one, did not rush him like the other had. He threw his axe, and then picked up his fallen comrade. Sereus jumped to his side, and then quickly stood back up. He gritted his teeth, and in turn threw his spear at the man. Finding its mark, the man flew back, dieing almost instantly. Sereus, picked up an axe from the dead man, and then dislodged his spear from the other. Another man came at Sereus, and the two collided into melee. The man swung his axe, only to be sidestepped. Sereus, returned with a slash of his axe, that crashed through the man's head. Sereus turned to find his son and Lucius fighting for their lives.

The First Turn of the Seasons A.C. (Turn 1 After Civilization)

A most triumphant of days it was for the village. It was this day that the Emperor took his throne and began his full duties that were afforded to him through the family council. Not only was it a good day for the citizens of the new empire, but a new child had been born as well...

"It is a boy my Lord," exclaimed the young woman, "It's a BOY!!!"

Lord Draknith was besides himself. His wife and he had finally found the time in the past few months to take up the art of childbearing. Now that the Grand House of Huber was established, regular council meetings were occuring, and unification with the other citizens had been handled, Lord Draknith found himself with little else to do.

"May this day be forever remembered," said Lord Draknith.

It was then so. The official recorder of the Huber family came into the room and began work on a new scroll of the ancient paperroot fibers.

Proclamation of Lord Draknith, Lord of the Grand House of Huber

Today, the first day of our creation in this new world we have built, we see the miracle of life before us! Today, my son, heir to the ancient reights of Huber has been born and shall take his place amongst these people. May he live his life full, and be full of remembrence of the great deeds he has done.

Polaris Huber of Huber
b. T1

Later that evening at the families coucil...

"Yes, yes, thank you all, thank you all. It is by glory itself that I have received this gift of a son. However, there are still matters of the house that need to be addressed. Since you seem to be on edge my friend, perhaps the ancient reight of Draknith would like to speak," said Lord Draknith.

"I come here tonight to discuss this matter of our emperor, and his people's arrogance at destroying what unity we have found in this place," exclaimed Mencius.

"By what betrayal do you speak of my friend," questioned Lord Draknith?

"They wish to name this place Artok! After their own people. They wish to say that noone, but themselves has done what deeds we have done," responded Mencius.

Lord Draknith rose from his chair and walked around the small rounded table, "Do you know what you are saying? You would rather what, name the city Huber, or Draknith, or Dankis?!"

"Perhaps! A far better name if you ask me than this Artok," interupted Mencius.

"As the emperor we have given this man the ability to make these decisions. Make not like a stone in the water, and cause something of your sort. The name is a name. Glorius a name can be, but if Artok should fall, so shall we all. With the might of Artok behind us, we can build and even conquer new cities. Ones by which we may call own own. But know this my friend, if you wish to seperate us now, we will be forever sent to our wanderous past. One I will not repeat!" said Lord Draknith, "I move to strike this motion from the table. All in favor?"

And Rhonin Dankis of Huber placed his thumb upon the table, and said, "Brother, please listen to Draknith. These are not concerns of yours."

The night ended better than it had become earlier in the night. Discussions were held about what plans should be taken. Then some of the ancient chartreuse spirit was distributed amongst all, and chears and celebration could be heard comming from Lord Draknith's residence throughout the city.

Proclamation of Lord Draknith:

I hereby request that the Huber family be made proprietors over the grain fields in the west of Artok. Our past knowledge of harvesting these grains may help us gain knowledge over the ways of farming.

I declare my oath to the protection of this city, and it's people's against all enemies.

I request that technology and man power be researched for the development of the surrounding infrastructure.

OCC: okay, wanted to create some stuff. Figure we can base our timeline and age on 'turns of the seasons" or one turn. I don't know how many 'human' years should be attributed to one turn, but if we use real dates, we'll be screwed with our first emperors living 1,000 of years. blah blah blah, we've all heard it before. Anywho, just wanted to stir up some controversy in the story, I think everything looks great, although I generall y have lots of luck with my capital named 'Huber'. haha j/k Hope you all enjoy the story, and I also threw in the official proclamations which we can use to voice our main characters desires for the advancement of our empire. What do ya think?

Civius stood before the House of Octavia and proclaimed their allegiance to the Artonian Empire. A great day this is for all of us. No longer would we wander the the lands in search of food. The Emperor has given our lives purpose and I do hereby swear my loyalty to him. The rest of the House stood and swore loyalty to the emperor as well. Just then Meka ran into the Octavian Hall (in the west wing of the Palace) crying and screaming holding her son, now 2 years old. An elder of the House shouted, "A woman is not allowed in this hall my lord she must be removed." Now Civius did not want to offend the elders at such an important time in our history so he escorted his daughter out and calmed her down. "Lets take a walk Meka, tell me what troubles your heart."

As they walked down the shoreline she explained how the House of Huber proclaimed the son of Draknith was to succeed him and not the son of Rhonin, as lord Draknith proclaimed at their wedding. "My son is being robbed of his birthright!" she screamed, her eyes cold and hard. Civius had not seen her like this since she'd agreed to become a wife and give up her warrior culture. "I will never forgive him father and he will pay" then she walked away her son screaming in her arms......

Nearly 5 minutes after the battle began, it was over. With all seven killed, Lucius and Vandal, had both made two kills. The three returned home to open arms, bringing the head of the raider's leader.

Several months later-

Vandal looked upon his wife with awe. Although she was paired with Vandal three years ago, Vandal had never seen her until a year ago. Her name was Alicia and she was not very tall, unlike Vandal and the Reichkaiser family, she had angelic blond hair and had the figure of an angel too. Her eyes were pools of blue, that seemed to reveal your true self. In her arms was Vandal's newborn son, Cathal Ua Riechkasier. He had been born days after Vandal had returned from the Hunt. He did not have the Reichkaiser black hair, or Vandal's white, but of this auburn color.

"Sereus is looking for you." Alicia said to Vandal, as Cathal fell asleep.

"Did he say what for?" Vandal asked, wondering why. Alicia shook her head. Vandal, left after kissing his child and wife good bye, and after a short walk, he made it to his father's hut.

Vandal entered the hut to find Sereus lying in bed. Vandal dropped to his side, and began to pray.

"Save it my son," Sereus began " I have called you here for a favor." Vandal shook his head knowingly.

"I want you *cough* to give this to our king, and to have those" Sereus pointed to a weapon on the wall behind him. And then, instantly, he died. Vandal kissed his father, and grabbed the weapons on the wall. They were small gauntlets, and when Vandal put them on he noticed, that they had a small string like divise that, once he had it over his hands, looked like a spiders web. Vandal examined them, and
put his hands in fists, to find an axe's blade extend from the gauntlet. Suprised and amazed, Vandal opened his hand, and the blade returned. With that, Vandal spirited the small sack away.

The Emperor had recived the notice from Vandal only moments after Sereus' passing. It was his last will, carving it into a slab of stone, so that it could not be changed. The results were as followed;

-Vandal becomes de facto King of the Arkans
- Reyyk Reichkaiser is given a pardon for past infractions
- All of his possesions are split between his two living sons

After giving the Emperor the message, Vandal returned and gave the news to his people. It was desided that Sereus would be burned on a pyre. The ceremony, took only moments before his remains began rising to the heavens.

Several days later....

It was early in the morning, the sun just begining to rise, when Vandal began his morning walk. He had been doing so ever since his father had died. As he made a turn towords home, he saw smoke in the distance, and it was in the direction of his brothers home. Vandal ran.

OOC: Someone else RP PLEASE!

When Vandal reached the scene the fire was out, with a sad Reyyk staring at his burnt home. Vandal came over to him and asked, "How did this happen?". Reyyk didn't move for a minutes and then replied.

"They came in and killed Aeren, Jaersa, and little Reyyk. Then set the house on fire. I was out on a walk, and when I returned it was on fire. I ran in and got Jaersa's body, but couldn't get the others' in time." Reyyk paused, his eyes still fixated on the pile of ash, " It was Gereus' son."

Vandal was taken aback by the comment, but then remembered his angry face when he announced the results of the will. Vandal put a hand on his uncle's shoulder when Chareus ran onto the scene with a spear in his hand.

"I've got news"

"Gereus has managed to build up a formidable force, numbering 100 in strength. It is compiled solely with tribes that refused to recognize the Emperor. He plans to kill off our family so that he may become 'King of the Arkans'," Chaerus said after they made it to Vandal's hut. Reyyk was still in a state of shock, but Vandal managed to reply.

"Why? What have we done to upset him?" Vandal replied. Chareus was about to say when Alicia came in, nursing little Cathal.

"Maybe it was the will." She replied, she then returned her attention to Cathal, who yawned after he had finished. Vandal shook his head in agreement, then the four began a counter attack.

It was around the 18th turn of the seasons that a momentous change occured in the Grand House of Huber. After the long struggles to find a home things had finnaly settled down. The royal house had grow extensively over the past 18 turns. However, it was also becoming clear that many of the elders, those who had toiled in the wilderness, were getting on in their years. Lord Draknith was comming to terms with his age, and he felt the need to address the house.

It was during the annual conference of the Huber family that he made his address. Many came to tears at the thought of their wise leader stepping down from the leadership to spend his final years with his wife and family, which had now grown to three children: Polaris the oldest, followed by Penelope, and Canto the youngest. Lord Draknith had detailed the story of the ancients, how the group came togther and sought a home for many generations. How they came upon the others that fateful day near the woods, and how together the seperate houses had formed one great community. After this, the Lord of the House explained his vision for the future. How he hoped the house would continue striving for advancement, and the continued success of the relationships that he had worked so hard to develop. Although some in the family rose throughout the night demanding that Draknith continue as their leader, he would have none of it. Then, with his last message he explained how he wished to change the format of the house.

No longer would the Draknith's and the Dankis' have to be subservant to the tribe of Huber. All had worked at creating this family, and all should share in it's success. He outlined, and confirmed the full voting rights of all males in the family. All men reaching the age of succession would be allowed one vote. Leaders would now be chosen by the family. Although only individuals attaining the reights of Huber, Draknith, or Dankis could be nominated for leadership. All in all, Lord Draknith had formally placed what had been traditional in the family into law.

With a tearful final speach, Lord Draknith stepped down from the leadership of the House of Huber, and took his rightful place amongst his fellow man. By now, many of the young had grown up, and it was the job of them to lead the house to further victory. Polaris had been given the reight of Huber, Rhonin still the head of the reight of Dankis also at this point decided to grant his son, Octavian the reight of Dankis, and Lucius, champion of the hunt, was deemed the reight of Draknith. With the new potential rulers in place, the vote came down to the house.

The males placed their votes, and although none owed their loyalty to the Huber tribe any longer, the house leader was proclaimed.

On this the 18th turn of the season, the Grand House of Huber nominates Polaris, holder of the reight of Huber, to be Lord of this great house. May his life and reign be forever long.

Draknith Huber of Huber knew that this may present a problem, as the wife of Rhonin had been pleading for her son's right to become leader. However, since the view of the individuals of the house believed Polaris to be the best for the position, they voted him in. Whether this would cause a continued problem in the house, was a matter to be uncovered later. For now, the family was happy about their new leader, and the vision he would take.

During his first official grand council of the House of Huber, Polaris stood before his fellow family members.

"It has come to my attention that one of own fellow houses is in the midst of turmoil," explained Lord Polaris.

Within the small nation breaks had developed within the community, and the House of Artok was falling into a civl war. It was the hope of Polaris the new Lord of the Grand House of Huber to keep the leadership of the Arkans in place. He would stop at nothing to ensure that the rule of law continued. After all, should one family fall into disorder, it could lead other strong contenders to the various thrones of the houses to build their own armies and attempt to destroy the fabric of continuity amongst the houses.

Lord Polaris again spoke, "I, Polaris demand that Gereus step down from this path that he is walking, or be subject to the power of the House of Huber. I will not allow this usurper to take his place on the throne of the House of Artok. I ask that Lucius, champion of the hunt, build a force from our house to ally themselves with the rightful leaders of the house of Artok, and to counter any movement made by the rebels."

It had been done. The first signs of discord amonst the houses was developing. Lucius stood before the council and accepted his new appointment. He then went about recruiting the best the Grand House of Huber had to offer, and begain training them, as he had been trained. What happened after that is a story yet to be told...

Vandal and his soldiers began their march at sundown, and arrived at the battle sight in the dawn. It was an open field that sprawled across the area, with hills in the distance, this had be chosen as the field of battle soon after Lucius had joined them.

Vandal exhaled deeply as his soldiers began organizing themselves into proper rank. He looked to his sides. On his left were Lucius and Reyyk, who nodded when Vandal looked at them. Then there was Alicia on his right, who had insisted on leading her own regiment. She smiled when Vandal looked at her. It was only moments later when Gereus' forces came into view.

Gereus' forces where a rag-tag band of barbarians, armed with clubs, hatchets, and other various weapons. Vandal even noticed one man with a block of wood. They began running when they noticed Vandal and his forces apparently without orders to do so as Gereus, who was at the front, looked clearly upset.

Vandal grinned, knowing he would have an early upper hand. " Stand fast! " He yelled as they were approaching. It was then only moments before they were five meters awat when Vandal yelled, "Spears!" and the seccond line of troops, which were armed with spears, lowered the spears over their friend's shoulders. The first lines crashed into the spears, splatting blood clear across the front lines. Vandal himself had two spears over his shoulders and therefore got twice the blood. Then, as they had planned, the first lines fought foreward, causing many of the men to run. Vandal turned to his soldiers and yelled, "Kill them all!". His men did just that, breaking from rank, and slaughtering all men in sight.

Vandal himself charged right for Gereus who was trying to get his men to return. Vandal knocked Gereus over, disarming him. Gereus looked up in shock, as Vandal took out his axe and pointed it at him.

"Gereus! You have disgraced the Arkan People, and for that you must recieve the Severe Fault!" And with those words, Vandal beheaded Gereus. Vandal grabbed the severed head and looked around, his men surrounded him, with their weapons bloodied. Vandal put the head high in the air and yelled.

"VICTORY!!!"

After the battle had taken place, Lucius Draknith of the House of Huber stood looking at the fallen. It had only been about 20 mins of battle, but the casualties laid out before them number many. It had been the advanced training, and technology that had won the day. Lucius was very please not only at the valor of the army, but at his own display in battle. He had not fallen back to let his men fight, as many had thought he would. Instead he stood fast at the front of the line and killed at least 5 men himself.

He looked over at his friend Vandal, the new leader of the Reichkaiser house, and smiled. The two were thrilled and began to walk towards eachother.

"An excellent display my friend," said Vandal.

"Not too bad yourself," replied Lucius, "although you couldn't have done it without me."

Vandal knew his friend was joking, but it was true. Although the army of Gereus was small, it was a combined effort that won the day. As night began to fall the group gathered up the injured and headed back towards home.

Upon returning to the small city, the small army could see a line of fire laid out before them. As the army strolled through the ring of fire, shouts could be heard from all around. Finnally the leaders of the army made their way to the end of the line, and there stood Emperor Jao.

"Today is a great day for our people! For it is this day that the might of our armies have crushed the opposition that wished to defeat the progress we have made. In honor of your victory, I offer to you Vandal, head of the House of Reichkaiser this Triumph. May you have the pride of being Warlord for the day. All shall address you as they do myself, and a grand feast has been made to your benefit." Exclaimed the Emperor.

As Vandal, Lucius, and the other leaders of the army walked towards the palace for thier feast, Lucius leaned over to his friend.

"It strikes me odd that Emperor would have allowed this rebellion in the first place. I know he is growing in age, but perhaps his control on this people has wavered." said Lucius.

"My sentiments are the same my friend, but let us not think about the politics today, for we are to dine as the warriors we are, and I understand that you Huberians have concocted a special brew for our feast," replied Vandal.

"Oh yes, and I guarantee that after a couple glasses of it, you will want to fight even more, but will hardly be able to pick up a club..." responded Lucius.

The two continued to talk as they walked into the palace. As they did a great smile arose across the face of the Huber's former leader Draknith. A great sucess for the family he thought, and a great alliance in the works... it would be unfortunate however that he would not see the culmination of the friendship. As the candles burned down, so did the life of the great Draknith. On the eve of glory, the great man took his final breath and fell to the great sleep of the beyond...

Let me know what you think about this rant. I was trying to get the RP timeline up to spead with the game play.

"Polaris, your father gave me this book to give to you, right before he past," said Polaris' wife.

A small inscription was laid out on the inside of the cover... "Should you ever need something to read, which may help you understand the events around you, read this. I did, and your great uncle would be proud."

Polaris opened the book and turned to a passage on the Huber family back when it was still just the ancient tribes.

From the Journal of Podorus of Huber
The chronicles of the tribe of Draknith:

... The Draknith tribe arose from the deeps of the hells they say. Although this is not entirly true, their is fact in the truth that the Draknith tribe started from the blood feud of a father an son. From then on their most glorious victories and hardest failures came from the bloodshed of others and their own kind.

... They were known by their warrior class. A strict code not found in the other tribes. Their training, and shear brutality scars them for life into the solmn service of their Lord. We're it not for the Huber tribe, the Draknith's would surely have conquered all by now.

... One should be very careful of their dealings around the Draknith's. They believe in a pure blooded race, a race of supermen. They speak harshly and act far more deadly. I always wondered if they can exist with another tribe, fully needed cooperation to live?

Little did Polaris know that what he just read would help him to understand more than he wished to know...

The First Rebellion Turn 35-40

It had been a long time since the passage of Lord Huber and Rhonin. Life took on a simpler feel; Day came and Night past, rains fell and the Earth died, food grew and was gathered. However, things were happening too. Work boats were built, warriors gain recognition, and the city grew. All this growth however came at a price. No longer were the houses merely the focal point of the city, but outsiders came and developed other classes of people other than the powerful Lords and their families. To some this was viewed as progress and the further development of civilization, but some viewed it as a foul thing, with the ever present small minority that viewed it as a sickness that needed to be cleansed. All in all though people worked with their common man to further drive the machine that was the Arkan civilization.

One day changed everything in this small, developing world. A change that rocked the fabric of the city, and the near destruction of a family.

"Polaris, come on, you are going to be late for your uncle's ceremony," Polaris' wife said.

"He's not even my uncle, and from what I understand he may not even be worth going to this ceremony for." Polaris responded.

"Oh stop now, and get a move on. You are the head of the Family and need to be there," demanded Ry.

Polairs knew his duties and knew that a decision needed to be made. Since the passing of Rhonin and Lord Draknith, the family had grown. Rhonin had another child with Mekka once the sucession reight was handled. However, Mekka grew distant with the family and stayed with the Octavians most of her days. She had grown quite powerful for a woman in her position, and it was something she cared very much for. More than her second possibly, but never her first.

Octavian was a young man now, one ready to take the reight of his birth. He had already been made Lord of the Dankis tribe and with his connection to his grandfather, who was the head of the Octavian House, his wealth teetered on the brink of establishing himself as a new house in the Council of Houses. He was loved by many, and had power unlike most. But he never abused it. His favorite people growing up were definatly his grandfathers,Lord Civius and Lord Draknith. They showered him with praise, and taught him everything they knew. His rivals were small, but a deadly group they were.

The Dankis' weren't the only part of the Huber House. The Draknith's who had only just recently lost their head of tribe was a fowl man in his later years. Mencius had grown bitter as most of the Draknith's do in later years. His suspicions grew, and hatred of others boiled into near trechery. One time he even entered the council chambers at the palace during a meeting of the Lords and demanded the heads of two leaders newly arrived from outside the city. The ensuing charge flew one individual over the top, and his sarcastic nod to the head of the Draknith's almost cost him his head. He had tried again and again to get his first son Lucius to join in his demand to rid the city of immigrants, but always failed. His twin sons however took the violence of their father's imagination to life.

"Did you hear about what they found near the the Halases (immigrant part of the city) again?" Questioned a woman at the funernal ceremony.

Lord Polaris caught wind of the ensuing conversation, and was particularily offended by the description of the killing. Recently the small blood trails in back alleys that were usually from animal sacrifices were turining into reports of human sacrifices. Much was tried to solve the situation, but the Emperor seemed unable to stop the violence.

Lord Polaris took a seat next to the other Lords. His face looking upon that of Mencius. His funeral had become a big deal to most, but Polaris believed they only came to spit at the corpse and wish it curses for beyond the grave.

After the funeral Lord Polaris walked out of the small chamber in the palace. Realizing he was going the wrong way as he was going to have lunch with Octavian, Lucius, and Vandal, he ducked down an alley. He stopped however near a small window when he heard two voices.

"You heard him then, did you?" Questioned the one.

"Did I did," replied the second.

"Good, the we know what must be done. The fowl blooded will be dispatched. It is our father's last wish," said the two in perfect sincronization.

As Lord Polaris reached to see into the window to uncover the identities, the two rushed off, and nothing could be seen.

Lunch went as planned and day soon became night. Lord Polaris reached his house in the Nefres heights to his wife in tears.

"What has happened my love," wondered Polaris?

Ry, Polaris' wife, began telling her husband about the death of Rhonan, Rhonin's second son. 'The fowl blood' Polaris wondered. 'Could it be true that I heard today what has just recently transpired?'

Polaris stood up and made his way over to Octavian's. If his suspicions were correct he knew his friend would need his help...

(To be continued)

Upon arriving at Octavian's, Polaris noticed that his friend was walking up to his house. Polaris stopped Octavian and the two talked for a moment. After Polaris explained what happened, Octavian looked upon his friend with shock. The two made their way over to Rhonan's house to confirm the death.

The Emperor's personal guard had already closed the house off to outsiders. WIth the arrival of Lord Polaris, the guards stepped aside to let the him through. What he saw was a massacre. Blood was pooling on the ground, splater marks were strewn throughout the front atrium, and on the floor near the back of the room was Rhonan. His body cold and lifeless. Octavian ran to the body, and held it within his arms. His tunic becoming soak in red blood.

After a few minutes other members of the family began showing up. Then the worst occured. Mekka, widow of Rhonin, and princess of the Octavia House entered the domocile. She looked upon the body before her, and a rage developed within her soul. She began screaming, and demanding answers. With none to be found, she began throwing herself at the guards.

"Why did you not prevent this!" she shouted.

Octavian went to his mother's side, and the two embraced. He walked her outside, and consoled her. Soon though Lucius and one of his brothers arrived at the house. Lucius asked Polaris about the situation and about what had occured. He further explained that Romulax arrived at his house with the urgent message to get over here as soon as possible. Polaris seemed unnerved at this explanation, but passed it off quickly.

It was but just a little after when Romanux appeared with an individual being held by two Imperial Guards.

"I found this man wondering around the grounds. He didn't respond to me, and doesn't seem to understand when I speak to him," said Romanux.

The man was one of the latest groups of immigrants to the city. He understood nothing when spoken too, and had on his person numerous blood stains and a knife when he was taken into custody.

The next day a trial was set and quickly the man was found guilty by the jury panel, and the Emperor sumarily sent the man to be executed. This incident sparked off a rise in immigrant riots, and to combat this threat to the city the Emperor was forced to have guards in the streets at all times now. This lead to further unrest which began spilling over in to the house families. Many of the younger children and women of the houses were being harrassed by the lower classes of the city. On the first anniversary of the execution, a large riot enveloped the halleses and one of the young cousins to the Emperor was attacked and brutally beaten. If it hadn't been for one of Octavian's workers noticing the boy, he very well may have died.

With continuous upheaval amongst the various groups, families carried with themselves body guards, and even gangs of thugs. Small disputes over the price of bread could errupt into a full scale street battle. Although these types of incidents were on the scarce side, alot changed in the 38th turn, when the twins Romulax and Romanux bought share into the fishery business which was a booming industry for the city. Armed with local unions of immigrants the twins used various leagal and illegal methods to drive out their competition. By one turn later the twins were second to the great Octavian Fishing Consortum. This is when the downfall began.

Octavian noticed that his workers were not producing as much as before. Men were comming upon accidents more frequently, and ships were being lost to the sea. It seemed like the great Octavian was falling from grace. At one point he requested to borrow some funds from Lord Polaris, who in turn began overseeing Octavian's operations and merging them within the Huber familie's own business operations.

It was on bright sunny day in the 39th turn that Lord Polaris was walking along a corridor he hadn't walked through in a long time. Soon he realized he was near that same window where he heard two men discussing an attack which later came to be one of his own kin.

Lord Polaris stopped, listened, and once again heard voices comming from the small room. This time he would act more quickly, and looked into the window. What he saw next is a sight that forever changed the Lord.

Romualx and Romanux were sitting around a small table. Each with large grins on their faces.

"We have done it. We will now be able to formulate and execute our final plan. No longer will this house be filled with the fowl blooded fools that sit besides us," exclaimed Romulax

Lord Polaris ran off, eager to gather his security forces to confront the twins. He did not want the Emperor getting involved with this. It was something he needed to do. Unfortunaly by the time Polaris had his forced ready the twins had already acted.

The twins marched up to Octavians residence, and without knocking opened the door. The pulled his aside from his wife, and ordered him to come with them. They explained that he was being charged with attempt to defraud the family. An offense not used in many years as a means of punishment for one within the family. Unable to renounce the two, he complied and went off with them.

Octavian was beaten, harrassed, tortured, and left within an inch of his life. There was no trial, and Octavian had no idea where they were. All he saw before him was a large pole, with various sticks and dried plant material lining it. Octavian knew this was his end.

'How did this happen,' he wondered to himself, 'what have I done to offend my cousins this way?'

There was no more talking, and Octavian kept his cool the entire time. As the twins tied their cousin to the pole, they began chanting in an ancient tounge. Finally they pulled a small bag from their cart and a black, sandy substance was held in their hands. The fire was lit and after some more chants the substance was thrown into the flames. A small explosion and large plumes of smoke rose into the air. As the wind began to blow, the smoke was discharged and all that remained was a broken pole and nothing else.

"The powder really does destroy all it comes into contact with," said Romanux, "father was right."

Then from the woods behind them appeared a sight they hoped they would never see. Lord Polaris had been following them the entire time, and had emerged just after the death of Octavian. He rounded up the twins and their band of followers and escorted them back to the city.

A trial was held within the Huber family house, and the twins were quickly banished from the city. Upon hearing what had transpired, Mekka stormed into Octavia's head office.

"Have you heard what they have done?" demanded Mekka.

"Yes, and I agree with Lord Polaris' decision. Enough blood has been shed, and a life out there in the wilderness, is a fate worse than death." responded the Lord of the House of Octavia

"Perhaps for you, but not for me. I delclare a blood feud between any decendent of that foul Draknith house. May they be forced into the bowls of hell!" shouted Mekka.

After about another turn of the seasons, the capital finally calmed down, and things seemed to be getting back to normal. The Emperor had spent much of his time outside of the city, warry of the disturbances occuring within it's borders. This lead to a rebuilding of the house aristocrat society, and many of the Lords of the Houses began picking up the daily activities that the Emperor would engage himself with.

Lord Polaris was making regular trips out to the country himself. Often leaving for days, only to come back to others questioning him about his whereabouts. It was during a formal council meeting that Lord Polaris asked Lucius Draknith of Huber to attend the meeting in his place. Polaris made his way through the forest to a small cottage, while Lucius went to the palace to meet with the other Lords.

..."Here, here. What say the house of Huber? Do they grant their tribute to the Emperor," questioned Vandal head of the council at this time.

"As the others have voted, I must vote also for the House of Huber. We will be unable to grant tribute to the Emperor." responded Lucius.

At that point, the empire under Emperor Jao I was over. His dynasty was one of great birth, but in the end riots and rebellion caused it's downfall. It was up to this new age of leaders to take the reigns of the empire, and see where it could be lead...

Vandal looked across the cityscape , when he saw the city afire. He was no longer the young man who had caused a purge of barbarians at the Battle of the Great Field. Now, he was a full adult and the pretender to the crown of the Arkan people. He also had a much larger family. Vandal and Alicia had three more children since his victory. All three were girls that looked much like Vandal's mother had, with dark brown hair, and passionate hazel eyes. Their names were Zena, Serah, and Diana, in the order of their birth and all were soon of marrying age. Vandal's son Cathal was now a man who had returned from the Great Hunt with the prizes from a barbarian people from a great distance.

Vandal clenched his fists, and the twin blade sprang from his gauntlets. He thought of his young brother Reyyk, who had been recently kidnapped by rioting immigrants. That was why Vandal was out of the city, he reminded himself, to find Reyyk, and to free him.

He had learned from military intelligence that there was an enclave of immigrants outside the city, and Vandal was heading right for it.

When Vandal reached the enclave he was immediately swarmed by the poor. They began begging him for money. Vandal clenched his fist when one tried to pick his pocket. That sent them back to their holes. So he he continued down the way when he saw a small hut that was guarded by two foriegn men. Vandal walked up to them.
They looked at each other and then at Vandal, who at that time had already extended the blades and stabbed them in the head. The two fell with a thump as Vandal entered the doorway to find Reyyk being beaten by another burly man, who seemed to be the master mind as he asked, "Have you come with the ransom money?" Vandal replied by saying,

"No, but I intend to leave with your head."

The House of Reichkasier had greatly expanded since Sereus' last year, with the House being split into branches due to its size. There were now two Branches, The House of Vahalax and the House of Artok. Vandal still had ultimate power, but whe he died, his succesors would not. Reyyk and Vandal's two daughters Diana and Serah had died of a disease. Vandal was to be the last King of the Arkans.

It had been roughly 20 turns of the season, and many of the second generation of Hubers were getting on in age. Not much had occured in the advancement of the house. Polaris was still taking regular trips into the woods, leaving much of the day to day operations with Octavian. There had been some help designing the new steering mechanism for the fishing ships, which Polaris deemed a 'rudder'. All in all though, things had calmed down quite extensively since the 'House Riots of 40'. Leaders were engaging in rebuilding the house with members, as the influx of outsiders had diminished greatly over the past 20 or so turns.

Polaris had a son named Reich, while the Dankis' and Draknith's also expanded there households giving birth to two daughters and two sons. From the Dankis' Octavian had a daughter Meeka, named after his mother, and a son William. Lucius after the destruction of most of his family fathered a son Markos, and daughter Serena. Polaris has been working hard within the Council of Houses to marry off the daughters in hope of re-establishing some of the connected alliances between the families.

All together the family was happy. The reign of terror brought about by Mencius had been foiled, and put to rest. The organization of the house, and advancement of the society was the paramount objective in the minds of the Huber leadership. Polaris was also looking towards the future city sites for the Empire, was working on a proposal to the Emperor as to where the next cities should be built, and has been attempting to gain the rights to at least one of those cities to be governed by the family itself. However, only the future will tell us what will be...

Peace has eluded the Arkan people since the collapse of their society. It's rebirth has gone through a share of its problems too. There was a civil war, kidnapping, and now a succession crisis.

Cathal is Vandal's only son and is therefore heir to the Arkan throne. However, since the split of the house, there must now be two head in Vandal's passing but only one can hold the title Crown of the Arkans. Vandal had originally chosen Chaerus, Reyyk's son, to be head of the Artok branch. But, Chaerus died by snakebite, leaving Vandal to choose between Chaerus' six sons. All six were married and had at least one child. Vandal descided to have the first inter-branch meeting. Vandal would oversee the meeting, while Cathal, Allos D'Ora, and Alicia would represent the Vahalax. Chaerus III, Reyyk III, and Laros Vendira. The meeting began with promise until Chaerus III made a declaration that would change the history of the Arkans forever.

It was in the final turns of the second imperial dynasty that Polaris became active as he did in his earlier life. From the standpoint of the Grand House of Huber, Polaris had named William Dankis to be Lord of the House upon his death; Since Reich was too young at the time when the sucession took place. Although Octavian had his children before the purge of 39, it was uncovered that Octavian survived the attack on his life. Polaris, as it had come to be, had grabbed Octavian just as the magic powder was reaching the flames. Although both had been severly burned in the incident, Octavian worse than Polaris. It seems that the two had been attempting to uncover just what the magical substance was. Although never fully realizing it, the small house Octavian had built had become a sort of labratory. Along with the details of their experiments on the magical substance, a whole catalogue of information from plants, to animals, to even proper techniques of creating sharpened rocks and their application to structures to form working tools and weapons was donated to the Imperial Library in the palace.

The renewed spirit was also carried over into the city develpment projects Polaris had been working on. His plans for the Empire's second city were grand. With the many natural resources available in the given location Polaris devised a way for the city to not only be a place where individuals live, and work to sustain themselves, but whole industrial areas were planned for the more efficient cultivation of these resources. An almost completlely new way of thinking about planning had been carried out, and the Emperor seemed excited by the grand possibilities of this new city.

The family was in good times. Everyone seemed to be taking shared responsibilites in the advancement of the family. Lucius, under Lord Polaris' direction had created a defensive and offensive training course for all Huberians to undertake. Much had he learned from his life long friend Vandal, and even though his days were spent training, writing, and thinking about his life-force Lucius took the time to help his friend in his time of need. He worked dilligently with the leader of the Reichkaiser house to solve thier sucession issues. Whether or not thier problems would be solved noone knew yet, but Lucius hoped his work could be finalized before his death. And last but not least, Lucius' son Markos was turning into the great warrior that his father was. Already he had completed his own 'hunt' as his father had. Day in and day out, Markos would say, "Some day dad, I'm going to be the great General Markos, leader of our glorious armies, and bring honor to our great Huberian family!"

So another generation grew up, fought their battles, engaged in politics, and worked to better their house's future. Now their sons and daughter's would have to look to a growing dynasty of their own, and see where they can take it...

It was a proclamation that stunned Vandal, and would be a turning point in their history.

"I hereby arrest all five of my brothers, for their involvement in the kidnapping of our grandfather." Chaerus had said with no emotion. The room went silent. Never had the idea every come across Vandal's mind, but then he remembered how Reyyk refused to see his grandchildren upon his savior. Laros rose in defense only to find Reyyk III, knife in hand, stabbing Chaerus. Vandal sprung to his feet, and his twin blades extended. Reyyk finished stabbing his brother, and lunged at Laros. Vandal crashed into Reyyk with such great momentum, that Reyyk was forced to the ground. In a single moment Vandal stabbed Reyyk in the heart as the man lay dumbfounded. Vandal stood, only to find two pools of blood and his two great-nephews dead on the ground. Cathal stood over Chaerus and he silently gestured to Laros. The two solemnly took out their relative's body, yet Reyyk remained their, only to be taken out, and buried in a forgotten place.

The events at the meeting would never be spoken of, only that Chaerus and Reyyk had died. Nevertheless, three of the brothers were found guilty of kidnapping in an Artokan (?) court. The sentance is usually ten years, but, they were instead released to Vandal's custody. Vandal judgement, however, was much more severe. His punishment was death. Vandal himself would do the executing. The eldest of the three, Sergonas, was given the sársaukafull dómgreind. Vandal used his blades to slice open his stomach and then carve an X in his back. Finally, after ten minutes, he was still alive, so Vandal stabbed the man in the heart. It was the killing blow. The other two were beheaded by Vandal's greatest achievment, the Bronze Axe.

It was then that Laros Vendira, Reyyk's rejected grandson, was dubbed Crown of the House of Laros (renamed after the new head). Cathal was soon named the first Crown of Vahalax. The history of the Arkans has been one of great power, collapse, and an ongoing, bloody rebirth.

Cathal looked upon his newborn son with awe, hope, and great love. His wife Allana, a member of the Arkan culture, had given birth to a son. Cathal was filled with great emotions as Allan held him in his arms, and he ceased crying. It was then that Vandal walked into the hut and looked upon his new grandson. It was a great moment, in which Cathal proclaimed, "His name will be Dómgreind!" As it had been the name his wife and he had chosen days before.

Vandal was now a grandfather, and certainly not a young man. His pure white hair began to turn grey, and he could not move with the great speed that he was known for. A cold autumn breeze blew across Vandal when he looked around. There were new children, new faces, and it seemed to be a different way of life. Vandal himself was still training the soldiers, a duty he had upheld since the death of his father General Sereus Reichkaiser. As he continued to look he saw Laros Vendira, his great-nephew and leader of the House of Laros, a branch of the Reichkaiser house. Laros was telling the children of his house, which were very abundant, a story. Then, through reading his lips and hearing a faint amount, he realized it was about him at the Battle of the Great Field. With a smile on his face, he returned to his son, daughter, and grandson.

There was an eerie mist that covered the battlefield. Emerging from the mist were three men, each armed with a large sword. They moved forward and examined the area. Their leader was the first to come into full view. He wore light leather armor with a plaid cloth over his shoulder, his two accomplices wore the same. However, half the leader's face was painted blue. The ground was slightly wet, and made light noises with every step. Suddenly, the leader struck forward with his sword. A groan was heard and something fell to the ground. They continued forward, stepping over the the recently deceased soldier.

As they continued, scattered corpses, weapons, and armor were found all over. This had been a bloodbath. Eventually the three reached a hill, and they began to climb. As they climbed the small hill, even more dead bodies were found, most however were not fresh. Finally they reached the top of the hill, where the remains of a defensive position remained. There was wooden palisade around the outer edge that had been opened via battering ram. They continued forward until they reached a large stone wall. Then someone screamed, and Cathal woke up.

Cathal walked to the top of the hill, when he reached the top, he found Vandal. Vandal kneeled before the setting sun and breathed slowly. Cathal walked next to him, when he realized he was covered in bronze, a scarce substance that Vandal had discovered. He did not look up, but still spoke.

"It is time." Vandal got up and turned to Cathal. He placed a stone in his hand, that was not like other stones. He looked at him and spoke softly.

"Goodbye my son." Vandal then walked back and knelt again. This time, however, Vandal ceased breathing after one long breathe.

The last Arkan King had died.

It was around the eightieth turn of the seasons, and life was good for the Huber family. Roughly two seasons ago David was born to the Huber family within the Grand House. His birth was rejoiced, and it was in him that the family believed the future would be written. However, with the introduction of Frankis in to the Dankis family, every facit of the house was complete. Markos and Reich were each granted with their reights to the head of each of their families, and their mutual cooperation in the past 30 seasons worked out most of the animosities that existed between their father's. The cooperation internally with the family was great, but the external relations had weakened substantialy.

A devote believer in the freedoms of men, Lord William had fallen out of favor with many of the imperial policies regarding the lower classes. Most of the house disagreed with Lord William, but as the head of the house it was his decisions and words that made policy for the house. Lord William's decision to not support the Emperor had come at a cost. He was falling further from grace with the Octavian House, of which he was a legitamate heir through his relationship to Civius I, and although he wore the distinction with great honor he did not believe that his children would be so kindly honored. With Vandal gone, the Grand House lost another ally. It was a great bond that had developed between the House of Reichkaiser and the Draknith family, but Markos Draknith had been unable to continue the bond after his father's death. Not to mention that internal strife within the Reichkaiser family kept outsider's at bay. Some things were looking up though.

The Octavian fishing cooperative was recording great profits. Many of which went into the familie's projects including larger houses for the heads of the families on the Nefres Heights. A good portion was going towards city projects too. The new monument that had been talked about was in part funded through the family's good will fund. New advances were being devloped at a good pace also. These advancements were in part due to the streamlined trial and error processes developed by Octavian that had continued to be refined and worked upon.

All in all, the Grand House of Huber was enjoying life in the new nation. Plans were still in place to find a city location where the family could relocate it's growing population, as the Nefres Heights was becoming too crowded and more a political center for the family. Some things were going not so well, but some things were going quite well. A standard that develops in a growing society most believed. New neighbors had been found however, and the family knew that sooner or later bonds would be devloped or war would break out. With the imperialistic ideals that were booming in the minds of the elite, most of the aristocracy knew they may have to be called up to the duty of their society.

The great king of the Arkan people had passed, and the Arkan people showed a trait that was supposed to be bred out of them. Sadness. The Arkan people gathered on the hill which he passed, named Vandal's Hill. Men dug a massive system of tunnels inside the hill, and a single burial chamber that was filled with Vandal's belongings and Vandal himself. Above the entrance, a wooden structure was erected. It was small, with only a single room where people could go down and pay their respects. Surrounding the structure were four massive stakes, that were taken from the nearby forest. Vandal's tomb would be guarded by a newly appointed protector, who would live in a small room made into the tunnels. After a brief service, the mourners returned home.

After a rough session of the Council of Houses, Emperor Civius stepped down from the throne. Many believed that the abdication of the highest seat in the empire saved countless lives, as a full blown civil war between the houses for control would be devistating for everyone. It was unknown just who exactly was leading the front against the Emperor, but the common talk in the helleses pointed the finger from one family to the next. What was known was that the Reichkaiser and Huber families profited the most from the withdrawl of the Emperor.

Upon the absence of the Emperor that family Lords became the defacto rulers of managing the everyday necessities of a burgening empire. Cathal from the House of Reichkaiser was busy training new chariots warriors for the armed forces, and by training these soldiers without an Emperor to owe alligence to, they fell in line with their leader. At the same time it seemed that the events within the now split house were begining to subside. With Cathal being named head of the house, a swift code of loyalty was placed on all members. For now it seemed that things were calm...

Within the Grand House of Huber changes were also being made. William Dankis, Lord of the House, ruled very similar to his counterpart. Huberians were now working in common. They seemed to seperate themselves off from the rest of their neighbors, and this isolationism paid off. With a majority hold on the fishing markets and wheat production, the family made a fortune. First by kicking out rival families, and second by becomming the largest employer in the capital, making friends of the lower, working class. It seemed as though while the other families were moving out towards their own cities, which had been built during Civius II rule, the Huber house was consolidating land on the Nefres heights, and looking to take control of the empire.

Trouble began brewing however as soon as things began realy taking off. Small slave riots flared up, demanding their rights to freedom now that the Emperor was disposed. This in turn caused production to freeze up. In response the Huber house requested assistence from the only house capable of putting and end to the riots, that of the House of Reichkaiser. The problem was that Cathal found the best method to use was violence. Although it put a quick end to the riots, animoctiy was building. The final stroke came during an influx of new citizens. They were not common slaves, but came as a group as many of the families did. Upon asking to speak to a leader, many of the Lords were unable to find common ground on which to answer the new groups many questions. Finally a Council was formed and the motion was set forth to choose a new Emperor. Due to the continued decline of the Octavian House and that of Artok, Lord William and Cathal became the choice many found themselves having to make. Many of the ancient houses went in favor of the Reichkaiser, but the younger citizens with voting rights seemed to favor the House of Huber. In the end of the voting a fifty/fifty split had occured.

With the threat of economic starvation or a military coup, the future hung in the balance. Would Cathal unleash the army to take control of the empire, or would Lord William cut off the food supply and starve the people in to submission? The answer came at a dinner between the two leaders of all places.

"So Lord Cathal, I hope you have enjoyed yourself this evening?" questioned Lord William.

The leader took his eyes off the small performace of the young Huberian children that was just ending, and look at Lord William, "Yes, I have. Quite a wonderful place the Nefres Heights are. Maybe I'll buy some land here."

The two continued in small talk for a moment and then Lord William said, "Well, let's get down to business. I have run this whole campaign on the belief that we must work together. Nations are appearing all around us, and it will take common leadership amongst us if we are to succeed."

"I couldn't agree more Lord William. Men like us will be remembered for what we do here today. I must advance however, and believe that My position makes for a better commander at this point. Although your Draknith family have become great warriors, I do not believe that they alone can provail," responded Lord Cathal.

"There are many things yet to do my friend. War will not come for many years I believe. However, war here at home may be more likely... I believe I know of a common ground we can rest on. All the families have cities under their control. The House of Huber needs one for ourselves as our growing family needs room. There is a mountain to the north, with a lake besides it. I would like very much to have a place to call home just south of that lake. If you can make this possible as your first priority, and place my conference at your table as Regent. I believe we may have a deal", said Lord William.

"What do I recieve in return then?" Cathal asked.

"I will withdraw myself from this campaign, and work towards bridging the gaps that have formed within this nation. You will have your throne, and our destiny in your hands. I believe that is what you desire..." responded Lord William.

The two concluded their meeting, and before leaving Cathal turned to Lord William and asked, "You must tell me friend, what is that depiction on your wall?"

Lord William looked towards the small polytheistic inspired design, "Ah, a gift from an Egyptian businessman. A depiction of their gods. Seems they believed their past involved great gods from the heavens that made all possible. Nonsense if you ask me, but I do enjoy looking at it greatly."

With the period of anarchy over, the Empire once again had its head. May the reign of Emperor Cathal I be a blessing on this great people!

Emperor Cathal I, as he was called now, looked up from the floor at one of his servants. He dismissed him, and began thinking. He was very old now, although still Emperor, his son Crown Prince Dómgreind took over his Imperial duties. He was one of the oldest living in Artok, and knew he would soon die. But he had done his duty as Emperor and head of the Vahalax Family. Cathal had founded the city of Arkan as a new home for his people. He was successful, somewhat, as his house did move. But, the House of Laros did not.

Emperor Cathal went to bed that night, but didn't wake up.

The New Alliance:

"Get up fool, we're going to be late meeting up with everyone," said Draknith to his cousin.

Frankis was slow to get up, but he eventually found the strength to move himself from the bed. Frankis was the youngest of the three cousins in the Grand House of Huber. However, his age did not reflect in his creativity. Already a gifted student of the arts, young Frankis would often stay up till the late hours working on various projects, much to the dismay of his mother. This late night attitude often caused him to rise late in the day, and today was no exception.

"Hurry up!" exclaimed Draknith.

"Alright, alright already. I'm up!" responded Frankis, "Just where are we headed today? I hope it's not the same old thing. We always end up in trouble, and mom's getting really upset about my tardiness to instructions."

"You're late cause you stay up all night doing your crazy work, and I can't help it that you don't run fast enough to get away..." responded Draknith.

The two carried on in their bickering all the way down to the bottom of the Nefres Heights where the others were gathered. Already waiting on the two were the future heirs to the other families' houses. Although the politics between their parents' never seemed to end, the group found common ground, and actually were a major support group for eachother.

"What took you so long Draknith, was Frankis sleeping again?" questioned Domgreind sarcasticly.

Frankis did not like the comment, and made a face at the others to show his disapproval.

"So where we headed to today?" questioned Frankis.

The group looked around at eachother waiting for someone to say something. This was the standard practice, as it was very common for the group to be sent away from any place where they resided, because of thier mischief. It wasn't until a couple ideas had been thrown around that someone spoke up.

"... nah, I don't want to do that. We do that all the time, and..."

"Wait I've got it... Let's head down to the Hellesses. We get kicked out of everything up here, but down there we could do just about whatever we wanted," said Draknith

This was a bold idea, as the young princes had never ventured into the streets where the lower society resided. A scary thought came to most of them, with images of gangs, thugs, and criminals. Who knew what would happen, they may swipe a couple coins from someone, or they may get beat up. Regardless, most of the group was unaware that Draknith had already started walking, and like monkey see monkey do, the whole group set off for the Hellesses...

It was about mid-day when the group decended down into the Hellesses. They were surprised at what they saw. Not only were people walking around singing songs, but the streets were failry clean. The group did not stand out as much either, as their clothes were generally dirty due to their common rough housing.

Mid-day came and went and the group saw little opportunity to continue their adventure. Yes they had already found themselves in a couple of spots, but were easily able to escape. However, just as the group was heading back towards the gate another group of kids, older than the princes, stepped in front of them.

"So where do you think you're going?" asked one of the kids.

The group stopped and looked around then Domgreind said, "Headin' home out of this hell hole."

The older kids did not like that statement one bit, and as the group advanced their leader said, "Well this hell hole is our home, and we own this street. You wanna get by you pay. You don't pay, we make you pay. For we are the mighty 'Romans'."

The 'Romans' were a street gang in the Hellesses which formed originally during the street wars of the first rebellion many years ago. They were known for their ruthlessness and power. Many thought of them as the Lords of the Hellesses, much to the dismay of the Lords of the Houses.

Meanwhile back in the Nefres Heights...

"Mrs. Dankis is Frankis home?" questioned David.

"No, he went out with those hooligans from the other houses. He is your youngest cousin David, you need to keep better track of him. They always get into trouble whenever you are not with them," responded Mrs. Dankis.

David stood at the doorway and thought to himself, '...well if Frankis wasn't so slow, he might be able to get away...' Soon though his thoughts returned to himself, and he made his way down the shops to inquire into the groups whereabouts.

"Nope, haven't seen them all day. Check with McAllister down the ways, I think he was talking about them earlier." said Brenton in response to David's inquiries.

David made his way down to McAllister's, and upon asking about his cousins and friends, the gentleman told him how he saw the troop heading towards the gate into the Hellesses. After hearing this David immediatly began running towards the gate. When he reached the gate he saw the ensuing battle. Noticing quickl that most of his friends were laying on the ground, the young man jumped onto one of the adjacent roofs.

"You rich kids aren't so tough are ya?" questioned one of the Romans.

"Tough enough to take you guys out," responded Draknith and Domgreind.

By now the princes were in serious trouble. Their friends were hurt, and it looked like they may never make it out of the Hellesses. Then just as one of the Roman boys swung to hit Draknith the boy collapsed. Then another boy fell to the ground. Draknith and Domgreind looked around to see who was fighting on their side. After seeing noone they peared into the sky and there stood David, the sun shining behind him. David jumped down from the low roof and quickly gathered his friends. The group managed to escape the clutches of the Hellesses, and soon they were back near the Nefres Heights. Darkness was creeping over the land, but the boys still stood at the Heights recollecting on their victory.

Praise was given to one and all, and the encounter seemed to have created an unbreakable bond between the princes. Above all though they recognized that they may not be here right now had it not been for their combined bravery and David's quick thinking. To complete their bond the six boys pledged an oath to eachother to aid one another should they ever come in need.

And from that point on the boys were never without one another...

The Rise of Lord David of Huber:

The seasons had past. Generations were once again passing along, with a new age approaching the young princes had grown into men. At his final council Lord William proclaimed that he would be passing the title of 'Lord' to David, to much applause of the councilors within. He had already attained the Reight of Huber when Reich, David's father had passed. Now he poised himself as the greatest of all Hubers. Joining him in his new position were his cousins Frankis, and Draknith who had also attained the Reights of their families. Draknith had gone on to advance his studies in the art of war, and was becomming a true master. He had participated in his own hunt, which had been a tradition since Lucius Draknith hunted with the House of Reichkaiser at the behest of Mencius Draknith. And to further his goal, he willing signed up with the warrior groups in the capital, to give him the experice of true combat. Frankis moved on with his studies in the art of technology. As of late he had been working with substances found amongst the other civilizations in the area. A hard greyish substance that was far more stable than the bronze uncovered many years ago. His genius was second to none, and his art had considerably improved also. Many of his works were placed in the Palace for all foreign guests to observe.

The Empire was expanding as the Emperor grew in age. Huber was founded, and a majority of the family made it's way from the Nefres Heights towards the new city. Only the heads of the families kept their palces on the Heights. It was looking as if the family were in it's own golden age. The families were growing stronger as a unit also. The bonds that were developed early in their years were only strengthened as the boys grew to men. Unrest was developing though as the gap grew between the classes. Riots were a familiar sight in the capital, and many of the nobles were looking for ways out, leading to a decline in Artok's history. Unfortunatly, the great Cathal was seeing his years pass faster and faster. Since the great compromise between Lord William and King Cathal, most of the older generation was gone, and power was slipping as the age difference was very apparent between the current administration and the next generation that followed. In a final act before his death, Emperor Cathal finally made his decision for a Regent to succeed him after his death. His choice fell on the young Lord David of Huber. Although fresh in a new political position, the young man filled the role as if he were born for it. Things were looking low, and it was the hope of this new generation that the Empire grow stronger and larger, without the threat of civil violence.

Dómgreind looked at the gauntlets his father had given him before he passed. They were interesting, with a chain mail glove attached. He put them on and clenched his fists, and a small blade extended. He was taken aback, and nearly fell off the roof he was atop. He thought of what had happened. After his father had died, Dómgreind was denied his birthright as Emperor on the grounds of his age. He was 12 at the time of his father's death. Now he was 18, already a decorated scout, and diplomat to Egypt, and was still denied that right. But, there was nothing he could do about it, he had no power. So, he decided to visit his father's tomb.

When he reached the tomb, he shook hands with the guardian, Dómgreind's only sibling, his brother Sereusum. He climbed down the ladder and walked straight down the passageway until something caught his eye, it was a dusty doorway. He walked in and looked around and found a suit of armor sitting up. Inside were a large amount of ashes. He didn't know that anyone besides his father's ashes were here.

As he looked around, he saw spears and knives of all shapes and sizes, there was even a rack of skulls in the corner. Then, he saw a tablet near the armor. He walked over and picked it up.

It was not in Artokan (?) but in Ancient Arkan, a language his father had forced him to learn. He read the tablet-

This is my last writing to the world, this will help any in their quest for power,He paused reading, While Emperor Civius I was coming to power, I trained the army of Artok. However, I knew that he would not be in power forever and did not have them pledge loyalty to the Emperor, but to me and my direct descendants. This was drilled into their heads, so much that when they became officers they drilled it into their soldiers heads. For the one who reads this, I hope you have learned one this from my writing. Never doubt the power of the Reichkaisers. My name is Vandal, and may it instill awe in the people of the world.

The Empire was sprawling with activity. With the recent call for the newly created 'Council of Lords' leaders from all around the Empire were gathered at the capital to discuss the succession of the House of Reichkaiser, land grants, future imperial expansion, and the state of diplomatic affairs. Although the plan that each leader proposed offered different approaches to their mutual problems, in the end an agreement seemed to have been accepted by all. The agreement became known as the 'Malpeace Accords'. Celebrations had been going on every night since the delegations arrived in the city, and the capital had not seen this much activity in years, since most of the families had moved out to the neighboring cities in the Empire. On the Nefres Heights, Regent David of Huber was unvailing a new golden statue in front of the Family Palace.

"Today, we commemorate this statue in honor of this Grand House. May it shine forth as bright as this glorius Empire. Long Live the Grand House of Huber." Regent Huber proclaimed.

The evening was celebrated with a grand dinner in the palace. All the heads of the family were there; Regent David of Huber, Lord of the House of Huber and holer of the Reight of Huber, Lord Draknith of Draknith, Consul of the City of Huber, and Frankis of Dankis current leading researcher for the Society of Imperial Research. Many of the supporting family were also present, and Regent David was happy to see all in front of him. His stature and power had grown extensivly since he took up the Imperial position. Many thought he would have attempted to gain the throne in this past tribute session, but in the end the Lord of the House decided to help his long time friend achieve the status of his birthright.

"You will surely run in the next run off though won't you?" questioned Draknith.

Lord David looked around the table and responded, "The current need is to support the Emperor and persuade him to keep on track with the Malpeace Accords. If I am able to display my leadership abilities, and the Council believes that I am the right man for the position, I will humbly accept their decision."

"Well as I see it, this House has yet to sit someone on the throne. And if I may be so bold, you are our best hope for that position. Your leadership abilities have already been proven, and many of your agricultural and economic acts have stimulated this society into action," said Draknith.

"I thank you for your support Draknith, but only time will tell," responded David.

As the evening went on guests came and left. In particular, a guest entered the palace in a garment not native to the people.

"Ramuses, how good to see you my friend," said David.

Ramuses was an Egyptian leader in Lincoln's court. Recently the two men had become friends after working on a fishing deal with the Octavian Fishing Cooperative. Although the deal was not completly worked out, David saw this meeting as a chance to further his ambitions of gaining a foothold on Egyptian business, and also to promote continued good will between the two nations.

The two sat and worked throughout the evening and upon entering back into the atrium of the palace the two were seen with large smiling faces.

"Thank you Lord Huber for your generosity," said the Egyptian.

"It is my pleasure Ramuses, I look forward to seeing you in Egypt soon. Your offer is very enticing, but I do not believe that we are ready to make such a move just yet. Thank Lincoln for his continued good will towards our people, and inform him that we stand by his side in mutual, peaceful co-existence." Replied David.

The two gentleman shook hands and the Egyptian left. David walked back towards his office to work on matter of state. But before he entered his office, he turned towards one of the servants in the palace.

"Potok, would you please assist me with something?" questioned David.

Potok obliged and entered the office.

"This tablet was a gift from Vandal of the House of Reichkaiser many years ago. It was an offering to Lucius Draknith due to their great friendship. I wish you to safely deliver it to Domgreind. I believe it will help answer some of the questions that he has been seeking." instructed David.

As the servant left the palace David thought to himself, 'My good friend Domgreind. You have been so lost since the passing of Cathal. I just hope that this connection to your past will serve to aid you in your time.'

The servant made his way quickly to the House of Reichkaiser. It had grown greatly since Cathal I. Upon comming to the door, the servant handed over the tablet to a fellow servant. Dom received the tablet, sat down, and began to read...

Dómgreind emerged from the tombs a new man. Immediately he took over and was named Emperor Dómgreind I. His rule was an interesting one. The new Emperor had immediately began using the Iron around the city of Dómgreind to produce his legions of swordsmen. He even formed an Imperial Guard, but Dómgreind knew in the pit of his stomach, that he wasn't meant to be the emperor. It was one that, eventually caught up to him on the day when the direct male line of Vandal the Victorious, ended.

Dómgreind had ruled well into the century when he received news from Arkan. His grandson, Prince Dómgreind III, was assassinated by a man down on his luck. this news shocked the Emperor, how could his grandson die? Dómgreind was very old and it was predicted he would die soon, and his son had only one child. It would in fact be this news, that would cause the old Emperor's heart to fail, sending a wave of fear across the Empire.

Three days later, Dómgreind II became Emperor. And it would become one of the most bloody reigns of all time.

At the Imperial Palace in Artok

"Old friend, it seems like only yesterday that we were fighting our way through the Hellesses. Now look at us, old and grey." Said Regent David of Huber.

Emperor Domegreind leaned over to his side and with a weak voice he said, "David, you have been my friend all of these years. You helped me through many of my trials and tribulations. My son will soon take the throne, and I am worried that he may bring a bloody chapter to this great society we have maintained. "

The Emperor began a fit of coughing, lasting several minutes. At the end of his attack, the man seemed even less alive than he was merely minutes before. The end was soon coming for the leader of the Artokian people. His reign had been good, and maintained a great kinship with his fellow aristocrats. Many of the common people were even saddened by the sickness taking over the Emperor's body.

The problem for the Emperor was that his grandson, the next heir to the throne was assassinated. Instead of the chosen heir taking the throne, the Emperor's next choice fell upon Domegreind II. This individual was unlike the current leader. Thirsty for blood, and driven by mad desires, Domegreind II was a tyrant the likes that had not been seen since Mencius of Draknith. David knew that his friend was asking for help, without asking for it.

"Domegreind, we have worked too hard all these years to allow such a destructive force to take control. I will do what I must, but I will wait until your choice in the matter has expired. You will not need to worry about you honor to your family. I will take the necessary steps to ensure your safe passage to the next world, with full warrior rights." Said David.

The Regent knew that honor, glory, and a positive after life was demanded of each warrior from the House of Reichkaiser. To interfere in the affairs of the Reichkasier family before the death of the Emperor would be viewed as a sacred interference, and would not be tolerated.

The two leader continued to talk until the Emperor was too tired to continue. David was undertaking many of the necessary administrative duties of the Empire since the Emperor became sick. It was now the choice of the Regent however to take a stand for the good of the Empire, or let the darkness fall across the land.

The decision was soon made with the quick passing of the Emperor. As foreseen Domegreind II took the throne and immediately changes were made. The Emperor called for a special assembly before him. Although Regent David was not among the group assembled, it was understood that a good many of the nobles were released, however a majority of the lower classes from the Helleses that assembled were never seen leaving the palace. Much speculation had been discussed, but as of this point noone knew the exact reason for the disapperences.

After this day Regent David of Huber found his position being diminished each day. The streets of the capital were rife with riots, and acts of violence. And to make things even worse, the Imperial Guard, a once glorious group of warriors charged with the protection of the Emperor, was reduced to a common gang using acts of bloodshed to enforce the Emperor's will.

The final act that stirred the other families into the fray was the expansion of Imperial power through new appointments. Whereas the main government power flow structure in the final years of the Despotic Imperial Empire was the Emperor followed by the Regent which branched out down through the city Lords, the Houses, and finally the citizens. When the new Emperor instituted the city governors act to enforce appropriation laws the Lords of the cities (Family Houses) found that their demands were being denied, and money normally flowing to them was now in the hands of the Emperor's minions. With every former position in government now undercut by the Emperor, the Houses moved to action.

The first move was made by Lord Draknith of Draknith, Lord of the city of Huber, reight to the family of Draknith. He discovered that by finding a way to cut the large flow of funds to the governors, he could use his own wealth to by them off and turn them against the Emperor. The heads of the Houses were able to do this by adding large amounts of ore into the gold supplies being mined in the Artokian gold mines. This effectivly cut the Emperor's base for funds in half, reducing the bribe payments made to his large Imperial power base. Soon the other Lords of the cities fell in line, and the once impenetrable corruption machine became owned by Regent David of Huber. David turned the tide against them Emperor by bribing the Imperial Guard and taking a strike team of members of the aristocratic elite to the Palace and forcing the Emperor's abdication.

Upon entering the Emperor's chamber through a secret passage, the group of leaders approached the Emperor about his actions. The Emperor was not the same man. Racked with dispair about the loss of his son, and feelings of guilt due to the reign of violence ensued upon the populace, the Emperor merely rose before the group and said, "My fellow Lords, I ask that you forgive my incurrsions. I know not how to continue on. I request that you take control of the Empire Regent David of Huber. "

Soon after the Emperor was taken by the group and brought before the Council of Lords. Due to the extreme circumstances behind the Emperor's state of mind the Council agreed to not prosecute the Emperor, but allow him to abdicate his throne, to live out the rest of his life as he saw fit.

After the culmination of the precedings, the Council of Lords sat to determine the next Emperor. Having forged his way through the entire ordeal, and being the friend of Domegreind the I, Regent David of Huber was crowned Emperor Huber I. Although very old by this time, the David of Huber had a force of will that seemed to carry him through. Some have even dubbed him "The Immortal".

Lord Civius
Oct 05, 2009, 10:50 PM
The House of Octavia had been ripe with internal conflict since Civius III was overthrown. Generations passed and the House had gone from a council of equals to a Hereditary Dictatorship. Civius III was the last of the Consuls leaving with him the prosperity of Octavia. Darkness captured the Western lands the once powerful house was ruled by an iron fist.

He'd left no son to take his place as Grand Consul and those that thought he was weak wasted no time in murdering all possible heirs to the Civius family. For centuries the Dark Order tracked and killed anyone with a possible relation to the Civius'. However there was still one, an ancient descendant of Civius the 1st. His loyalties lied with the House of Huber, for he was the last of the Civius bloodline.

Airon was fast asleep when he heard the clammering of Armor approach his room in the Palace. The Prince was to be married today and take his rightful place in the Huberian heirarchy. The House made a place for him and all of his fathers before him. An ancient promise had been broken and he would be the only Noble not of true untainted Huberian blood. As was his father, and his father......

As Prince Airon opened the door to join his escorts he saw the blade coming down upon him. He had no time to defend nor escape its wrath before he felt the cold metal. Falling to the ground he knew this was the end, the Dark order had finally found him, just as his father foretold. Looking up he was the three blades poised to drop, then they were gone, he felt three bodies hit the floor and then Darkness.

He awoke to find his uncle, Regent David of Huber, at his side. He went to reach for him with his left hand but was unable to move it. One look and he knew why, his whole left arm was gone all the way to the shoulder. He stood up, still weak from his wounds and grasped Davids left shoulder. "You are the last of your people Airon, go to them give them hope." It was now that he noticed the Emperial Ring upon Davids finger. He tried to go to his knees but David held him up. "Yes, lord Airon of Octavia and Regent to the Empire, the age of Tyranny is over........

It was a time of joy, it was a time of saddness. The Grand House of Huber was enjoying a golden age of opportunity. Lord David of Huber was the current Emperor, and was making a major push for advancement across the Empire. City life was changing, and the riots of the past were becomming just that, history. The Royal Houses across the Empire were stable, and each were profiting from the boost in happiness. Most of all though the small group of cities were turning into a kingdom, with a military ready to move against rivals. Although Emperor Huber I was still going strong in his very old age, people around him were passing.

Domgreind I Emperor of the land before David was gone, and within the recent years both Draknith and Frankis, first cousins to the Emperor, were gone. The torch had been passed. The Emperor although very busy with the state of affairs did appear before the house during it's annual council session to review the state of affairs.

Emperor Huber I, declared that as Lord of the household he would name the sucessors to the reights owned by the previous leaders of the families. Longivus became holder of the Reight of Dankis, as his brother Arian had become Lord over the House of Octavia claiming his birthright through Octavian Dankis, son of Octavian I creator of the House of Octavia. To follow the loss of Draknith of Draknith Bryanton, son of Draknith became holder of the Reight of Draknith. THe final major decision to be made was granting a successor to Lord of Huber and Lord of Artok. Persius Huber became Lord of Huber, and Longivus Dankis became Lord of Artok. With his duties to the family fullfilled the Emperor continued on with his extrordinary force of life.

OOC: First of all, great idea. But, I meant for Domgreind's story to go more like this...

Domgreind sat on his throne with a hand on his head and a hole in his heart. His only son was assassinated. His father had died the next day, leaving him alone. the new Emperor's frown then turned to a scowl, as he called in the Imperial Guard.

"Take me to Arkan, I plan to have a word with my son's killer." A few days later, the Emperor came before his people, examining them individually.

"All men from the age of 15 on shall come before me, now. All women and children may leave." Domgreind said, still scowling. They lined up quickly, and the Emperor immediately singled out his family.

"Members of my family are dismissed." His family left leaving many men still here. Domgreind decided to speak to them.

"Men of Arkan I ask you," He paused, " Who is my son's killer?" No one replied, eyes still on the Emperor.

"No one? Well, that has just damned you all!" And with those words, the Imperial guard surrounded the men, and they were all slaughtered. The blood was paved with blood, as women found their husbands martyred and the sons mangled. Domgreind left the city, leaving the people to wonder why. The Emperor went to every city in the empire after the massacre, killing all those who he thought was the killer. By the end of his reign, the death total had reached 1000.

One day however, the crazed and disheartened Emperor to abdicate in favour of Regent David. He would spend the rest of his days, sadened wondering what he was thinking. Some called him Domgreind the Tyrant, others the Murderer, but his family and friends called him simply, The Broken King.

Vandal-

Alright I reworked the story a bit to show that the Emperor engaged in some 'bad' behavior, and that he was forgiven by the aristocrats and allowed to abdicate versus being exiled. Take a read through and let me know if it works for you. I'm sure you're not too worried about it, but last thing we need is someone else to get involved in our story and start asking questions about the discontinuity of the storyline.

OK, RP has gone down severely, and instead of updating my story 'At the Gates' I will bring back RP. :p

General Caesus Vahalax II rose from the ground before his ancestor's shrine. He held an Iron star of David in his hands, that had left a permanent imprint on his hands. Caesus was the son of the conqueror of the Natives, and was now head of the Vahalax family. As such, he had considerable power, save the fact of being Commander of Artokan Ground Forces.

Caesus was tall for his time, like most men in his family. But, he had Vandal the Victor's trademark white hair, and well built body. He was married with five children, but his wife had since died in childbirth. He wore his father's armor, but used his own sword. He then walked off the hill and down to his horse, that was surrounded by the Guardians of Arkan, his personal guard. They set off for a journey to his native Arkan to hear the complaints of the populace. The people their were strict followers of Judaism, following the Vahalan Judaism sect. These people could be described as extremeists, willing to kill all those apposed, even those of a seperate sect of Judaism. But, Caesus knew that he would have to give them more bad news. The new act that the Pro-Counsel had proposed would most likely sit uneasily with the Arkan people. Therefore, rebellion or millitary coup was possible.

... and that is how your uncle suceeded your grandfather to become the Emperor of our great land.

Persius had just finished up reading young Cassius his bedtime story when a young servant entered the room.

"The Lord requests an audience with you Sire," said the young servant.

Persius got himself up, and walked out of the room. The Emperor Huber II was visiting many of his relatives in the northern cities after the sucessful campaign against the Native Americans, and it was a special treat for Persius to greet his brother. It had been some time since the two had shared a conversation. With the rapid expansion of the Empire under Huber I, many of the noble families were spreading out after land grants were given to them. The capital seemed so far away now to many, and the visit by the Emperor helped to bridge that gap that had developed over the past few years.

"The Emperor awaits you in the main chamber Sire," said the servant.

"Thank you Demitrus, please go ahead and take off for the evening, I will be able to handle the rest of the affairs for tonight." Responded Persius.

Persius was a kind man. He did not hold many of the beliefs about slavery, that most of the rest of the population believed. He was shot down many times in council for demanding that the Grand House of Huber become the first noble family to rid itself of the practice. However, things were begining to change, and with the influx of new Native Americans to the Imperial cities, ideas were moving in other directions.

"Davidus, how are you my brother," exclaimed Persius as he entered the room.

The Emperor was sitting in the most comfortable chair in the room; His gaurds by his side.

"Good evening brother, I see you have done much with the governor's palace here. Not the same as I remember it." said the Emperor

"Well, last time you were around these parts was when dad brought us here after the initial fase of the first war." responded Persius.

"Yes, yes. Much time has passed since we saw eachother last. And that is why I am here. I wish I could spend more time with you, but my duties to the Empire are not yet finished. You see brother the nobles, although happy with the progress our family has made, are becoming uneasy due to the widening financial gap we are seeing. I believe that soon I will be out of office. However, it has recently come to my attention that I may not be alive long enough to see that day come. I am dying brother, and I feel that I will not be strong enough to make the journey again to grant you your birthright. After today most of the administraive tasks will be taken on by the Regent. You however are my next successor to the throne should it be there for you to take, but more importantly you are to take up the Lordship of the House. I have no heir to pass the reight onto, so I am giving it to you brother. It will be your decisions now that lead the family onto a better future." Said the Emperor.

Persius did not know how to respond. His brother was dying, the dynasty was comming to and end, and he was just made the most powerful individual in the family! However, before Persius could mutter anything Davidus stood up out of the chair, and motioned to one of his guards.

"Please, Persius take care. I care deeply for you brother, and wish we had more time to spend talking about the past. Father always had a special place in his heart for you." said the Emperor, and with that Davidus left the governor's palace to take his journey further North to the newly captured Native American capital for the re-naming ceremony.

The world was becoming a smaller place as the Empire grew. Now nearly double in size, and population, the Imperial Empire was making it's name known throughout the lands. Newly established trade partners contiuned to help the burgeoning empire get it's financial footing. However new divisions were also becoming aparent, as religion began sweeping across the Empire. Persius knew that much would need to be discussed at the next Imperial Council, and he prays that he will be granted the strength to see it through.

The History of the family of Fuataga:

**A vivid history of Fuataga, as told by Salu Niu - the head orator of Fuataga**

My name is Salu Niu, son of Salu Sa, son of Salu Foa, son of Salu Taimi, son of Salu Tu'u II, son of Salu Tu'u I, son of Salu Fo'u, son of Salu Nesi, son of Salu Loa, son of Salu Tau, son of Salu Liva, son of Salu Tusa, son of Salu Fa'a, the son of the first Salu - Salu Salu. My task given from the high-paramount Chief: Pei Fuataga, blessed be his name, is to recite and explain the origins of our family - our history and our ancestors!
Although, it is considered very sacred and taboo to discuss the origins of our caste system amongst our people, I was directly told by the Chieftain Pei himself - blessed be his name - that for the sake of the historical importance and relevance of our entire clan it must be recited and included in this reciting of our history. As the "Fa'a" or caste system is the basis of our whole society and thus dictates the relationship between the many individuals that make up our clan as a whole.

*NOTE* - The word: "Clan" is substituted for the word: "Family" as it personifies a more grandeur and greater sense of Fuataga. Also, the term is used so that outsiders understand that Fuataga is actually a collective clan of may families, but traditionally: the Fuataga clan is simply called: "The family of Fuataga".

The origins of the Fuataga caste system:

In time before time, the great supreme God; Atua created two people, a man and a woman. The man was named: Fua {our first ancestor} and the woman: Taga {our second ancestor}. Fua and Taga made one flesh {hence we derive our clan name from them: "Fuataga"} and produced children - the most famous of which were five brothers, each with very distinct gifts and qualities. Their names were: Pei, Salu, Toa, Naku and Lana. From these five brothers birthed the five castes which make up Fuataga Society.

The Fuataga Caste System is divided into three traditional general groupings: The Head, The Body, The Feet .

The Head:

A Minor Chief from the Pei Caste:

http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/2479/fuatagachief2.jpg
Pei; who was the eldest of the five brothers was gifted a loud voice, a voice which boomed to the heavens every time he spoke. He was gifted profound wisdom to make decisions and find solutions to problems, no matter how hard or complex those problems were. He was also very tall and muscular - but was never inclined to doing much labour. His job, was to govern and lead his brothers and to settle disputes when they arose. His tall, imposing body - always adding to his overall persona: one of power and prestige. And so the first caste was born: The Chiefs - Each carrying the name "Pei" in honour of the first Pei. The Chiefs are given the responsibility to rule and make decisions over the clan. Each small family within the Fuataga clan {in which there are some 200} have their own family Chief, in which he or she {although it is very rare for a woman to be a Chief, it is not unheard of} makes decisions for the family. Decisions such as; how many males of the family will be sent to fight for the clan {trained to be Toa from birth}, the selection of a potential woman or man to marry into his/her family, the proportioning of food amongst the family, enforcing the traditional laws and making sure they are obeyed and generally just making sure the family is bringing honour and pride to themselves. Every five years {which commemorates the five brothers} a supreme "Chief of Chiefs" is elected by all the Chiefs of the small families within the Fuataga clan. Whoever is selected will be the supreme law giver and ruler of all the happenings of the Fuataga. The current paramount Chief is "Pei Fuataga the Great" - blessed be his name!

A seasoned Orator from the Salu Caste:

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/4427/oratorcastefuataga.jpg
The next brother; Salu was bestowed with a keen interest in the world around him and had a far more superior memory capacity, as he would memorise every single conversation that him and his brothers would have. In comparison to the rest of his brothers - Salu knew a lot more than they did and had a stronger connection with Atua, the creator. Salu grew himself a beard which would turn whiter and whiter with every inch that it grew. Hence the famous proverb amongst our people: "Like the beard of Salu, your power grows!" From Salu, came the second caste: The Orators. Orators are only second to the Chiefs. Their role is to keep and maintain the history, legends, myths, names and important dates of our people. For this reason, they are greatly respected and revered - some even more than the Chiefs. Furthermore, similar to that of the Chiefs, the Orators make up a very small percentage of the population and there exists usually only one Orator for every small family within the clan {although there have been some families such as the: "Nu'u" who are famous for having more than two Orators in their family}. The Orators also act as advisers to the paramount-Chief and to the petty Chiefs as well. Their guidance, combined with the wisdom of the Chiefs make up the ruling-elite of the clan. And thus; the Chiefs and Orators form the "Head" of the Fuataga caste system.

The Body:

A Warrior from the Toa Caste:

http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/7605/fuatagawarriorcaste.jpg
The third eldest brother; Toa was given the gifts of speed, strength, skill and stamina. The most skillful of the five, Toa would regularly display his fighting prowess by killing huge wild animals with his bare hands or run long distances for many moons without tiring. Such is meant by the proverb: "Like the body of Toa" - in praise of an individual who has displayed great fighting skills in war. Toa was also considered the "casanova" of his day, as woman folk from other surrounding districts would marvel at his supernatural like abilities. Toa is also remembered for having a great dislike for his youngest brother; Lana - as one legend recalls Toa telling Lana to fetch him a drink of water from the Spring of Life, instead Lana brought back a drink of water from the Spring of War. Hence people chosen to be born within the Toa caste are constantly at War. As the legend implies; from Toa came the third caste: The Warriors. The Warrior caste is formed from a male only population, who are forbidden to marry until permitted to by the paramount Chief {although frequent infatuations with foreign woman folk do occur, it is a very rare happening for a Warrior to marry a non-Fuataga woman, once relieved from service, as this would bring shame on his family honour} - Traditonlly; Warriors were selected by birth from the many small families within the clan, and sent away to the Warrior barracks in which they were trained and taught in the art of war. However, in the last one hundred years it has become more common place for the Warrior caste to accept men who have displayed 'Warrior Virtues' from the Naku and Lana castes. This has happened in an attempt to expand the Warrior caste in order to subdue larger opposing forces. Also, it has meant that the traditional rivalry between the Toa, Naku and Lana castes has decreased. The role of the Warrior caste is to defend the clan from attack, or to attack the enemies of the Fuataga clan. The Warrior caste also acts as the "policing" unit under the direction of the Chief caste, which deal with any serious crime or inner-clan threat. The Warrior caste is substantially larger than the Chief or Orator castes - mainly because it is through the Warrior caste that the most honour for ones family can be gained, and thus, many families send nearly all their male members to grow up within the Warrior caste. The Warrior caste make up the "Body" of the Fuataga caste system.

The Feet:

A Youth from the Craftsman Caste:

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/9218/merchantyouthforthefuat.jpg
Gifted with the ability to create tools, different forms of shelter and deadly weapons {for his brother Toa} - Naku is echoed throughout our oral history as the "Atua amongst men". This is because Naku could always create something, where others saw nothing. The great God Atua blessed Naku with the power of craftsmanship, Naku is remembered as the most resourceful of the five brothers. For instance, there is one legend which recounts the time when all five brothers were surrounded by many enemies - Toa, directed by Pei created a bottle-neck in which to break through the enemy lines, however after a while Toas' hands began to become weak. It was at this point, that the resourceful Naku created a sharp spear from a near by branch and threw it to Toa. This then allowed Toa to kill the enemies faster and therefore, create a bigger and wider bottle-neck in the enemy formation which thus made way for the other four brothers to escape. For this reason, the fourth caste traces their origins back to Naku - they are; The Craftsman. The Craftsman caste {which also includes traders and merchants} are economically and socially important to the clans existence! For they are responsible for the erecting of new building and infrastructure, forging of weapons and armour for the Warrior caste, trading surplus with other neighbouring clans {notably the Hill peoples to the far north} and generally stimulating the clans economy. During the early epochs of our clans history, the Craftsman were generally the young sons of Chiefs, Orators or the "incapable" males which were not sent to the Warrior caste at birth. However, in the last three hundred years - due to the increased contact with other peoples and trade in ideas and goods, the Craftsman caste has become renown as the "diluted caste". As many Craftsman children are of mixed blood. This has led to a tremendous amount of discrimination towards the Craftsman caste from the Chief, Orator and Warrior castes. As a result, the derogatory term for some Craftsman is: Naku Leai Sama Nui or "The one who spits on Naku".

A lowly Serf from the Lana Caste:

http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/3382/servantcasteforfuatagac.jpg
Finally, the fifth and least respected brother: Lana, was overlooked during the giving of gifts - and thus, since he had no outstanding gifts, was used as a slave and "fetcher" by the other four brothers. Lana is the shameful ancestor of the lowest caste found within Fuataga society; The Servants. Unlike the other four castes, Servants are not extracted from the family unit - instead, they have their own ridiculous and primitive ways. The Servant caste have their own "Chief" - who divides the amount of labour that each Servant family must undertake for the whole clan. The Servant caste form the majority of the clan. Their task is to sweep the streets, empty latrines, fetch water, cook, clean, bury the dead, hunt and generally just serve for the other four castes needs. In ancient times, Servants were executed for small offenses which offended their higher caste superiors {such as not kneeling low enough or paying the due respect} - but in this epoch, the conditions in which the Servant caste is treated has improved slightly. There are many reasons for this, but the main reason is that some Servant families have by chance, given the Warrior caste able Warriors {such was the case with the family of Su'a - which made caste history as the first and only ever family known, to have moved up into the Toa caste, from the Servant caste}. But mostly, the Servant caste are there to serve. Nothing else. And although both the Naku and Lana castes make up the traditional "Feet" grouping of the caste system, the Lana are seen as much lower individuals than their brothers: the Naku.

This concludes the reciting of the origins of the Fuataga caste system, and also a description of the functionality of each caste and their relationship with each other. There exists many sour opinions about our caste system, but it is our way of life! In which we will defend with every ounce of strength our bodies can muster!

The migration from our Northern ancestral homelands into the lands of the House of Huber will be told in a latter account of the Fuataga history. Blessings upon your lives! And long live the Emperor!

At the council meeting of the Grand House of Huber, Huberian Palace, Nefres Heights in the city of Artok:

"... and it is with great pleasure that I, Cassius Huber, Lord of the Grand House of Huber, grant the Reight of Futaga to our newest family in the House," said Lord Cassius.

The room errupted into great cheers as the chief of the new family joined Lord Cassius at the table along with the other Reight holders. It was the first time another family had decided to pledge it's support to the House of Huber. Granted the title of 'Duke' had recently been granted to the House of Octavia due to the common ancestrial line of Airon I, but that was not as important as this day is.

The group continued to discuss the matters of state throughout the night. Airon II had just been renamed Emperor of the land, and Cassius was eager to get the next Council of Lords gathered together.

The House had remained a very influential force in the Empire. With the fishing grounds kept safe through the new Imperial Navy, the Octavian Fishing Cooperative was able to continue it's operations, and even expand into the waters outside of Octavia. New economic initiatives set-forth by the Emperor were getting underway in the North, and many of the Houses new cities were begining to flurish.

Cassius was very much like his Uncle and Grandfather, and although he wished to see the Empire continue it's conquests of the North, he knew that the Emperor was correct in his economic reforms. Without the money, no army would go anywhere. James Huber was busy chronicling the families triumphs. Polydormus Dankis was busy handling the research facilities for the Empire, and was working dilligently with the Imperial Research Foundation to spread scientific upgrades across the Northern Realm. Albert Draknith was preoccupied with the peace initiatives going on throughout the world, and was enjoying every moment he had abroad. In fact, after a recent trip to Egypt, Albert met with Airon II to inform him of the new advancements taking place at the Great Library. Meanwhile Joseph Draknith was involved in getting the military ready for any possible incursions upon the Empire's borders.

All in all the House was growing, and the economic possibilities were also increasing. Everyone looked to the future, and to the advancement of the Empire as a whole.

The Imperial House was celebrating its reelection under the Family of Airon II. The great city of Octavia was becoming a powerful player in the Empire. Airon II bore only daughters and pressure was on for the aging Emperor to name his heir. Many in the Grand House of Huber were asking to marry Airons' eldest daughter Marianna. Her beauty was but a bonus, according to Octavian law they would also be the heir to the Emperor. Claims to Airons' bloodline were also keeping the historians busy.

Airons' nephew Claude was a General in the Octavian Army and commanded the Octavian Cavalry, It was the most prestigious military position in the Imperial Army. Airon II came to Claude while he was on the road to reinforce the city of Zululand. He spoke before the entire Octavian Cavalry. "These years of peace will not last, it is but a matter of time before the Native American war will commence. Even now Shaka is forging new armies to threaten the prosperity of our lands and people. The Empire will need a conquerer not a politician to lead them in this struggle. I hereby name General Claude my rightful heir to the House of Octavia and the Empire of Artonia."

Xer stood on the balcony with a simple frown on his face. Darned in military regalia, Xer looked like the average general but he was certainly not. Becoming the head of the family earlier in the year had set off a spark in anti-Imperial sediments. The Arkans were Jews to the death, and the introduction of Hinduism into the lands had done nothing but cause sabotage after sabotage and riot after riot. The people had had enough. Now with Xer, a radical Jew, in control it seemed like God was giving them a sign to raise up.

The young man noticed a crowd of people forming below him, armed with weapons and angry face shouting. Soon this crowd became a mob and they yelled to him to stop this oppression. Xer smiled and yelled to his people.

"People of Arkan!" He began, "We have been suppressed and degraded for too long. Now is the time in which we must fight those who have denied God's will! I say we throw off the shackles of oppression and leave a nation that dare fight us. Who is with me?!" And a barrage of cheers and praise leaped from the crowd and resounded through the city.

Immediately a council was called to Arkan, one delegate from each of the four townships and then three feudal lords from the surrounding countryside. Within six hours they had formed the Grand Principality of Arkan and had named Xer as Grand Prince. This was a revolt unseen by anyone.

News of the uprising reached the Emperor just before dawn. He called forth an immediate meeting with the rest of the Houses. Before they arrived he signed an Imperial decree stripping Arkan of all its appointments and is now under the direct control of the Emperor. Who signed a warrant for the execution of Xer and his followers. An initial report on the city of Arkans status was brought to the Emperor as the Heads of the Houses walked into the Imperial Palace in Artok.

Intelligence Report on the City of Arkan:

Imperial soldiers have secured all vital infrastructure necessary to the cities operation.
Production of the Heroic Epic National Memorial are on schedule without interruption.
Food levels for the population are sufficient for the citizenry.
All lands surrounding the city are presently secure.

The uprising seems to be limited to a Jewish Sect that has covertly propped its leader into a position of power. Xer of Arkan narrowly escaped capture and killed 7 Imperial Gaurd Soldiers before fleeing. His whereabouts are unknown and we have several of his followers detained.

Upon hearing the news of the uprising, Pro-Consul Cassius Huber immediatly informed the council.

"My fellow Lords, I have been informed by the Emperor that the city of Arkan has formed an open revolt against the Empire. I have been requested to join the Emperor at the Palace to help counter the revolutionaries," said Lord Cassius.

The entire room went silent, and mouths fell to the floor. Noone seemed to know what to do, but soon the silence was broken.

"So at this time, I am calling a recess to the Council of Lords. I would request that you all remain here at the Huberian Palace until we reconvene. Please feel free to make yourselves at home," explained Lord Cassius.

Cassius made his way to the Palace where the Emperor was working frantically with his subordinates.

"Emperor Airon, I have come as you requested," said Lord Cassius, "I cannot believe that this has happened. Although the tension in Arkan has increased over the last few years."

"Pro-Consul Huber, I am going to need you to assist me with handling this situation. I understand that the House of Huber had a major turmoil in it's past, so I am hoping that you will be able to give me cousul on this matter." Requested the Emperor.

"Yes Emperor, during the reign of Lord Polaris of the House of Huber, the twins of the Draknith family revolted against the house. We were able to put a stop to it, but at a very high price. I would recommend swift action, but not bloodshed." responded Lord Cassius.

"We will need to ensure that our troops on the ground are loyal to the Empire. I assume you have placed General Claude in charge, but if you would like I can have General Joseph Draknith handle the situation. The House of Huber is loyal to no specific religion, and therefore I can guarantee the loyalty of our soldiers. Also, with the arrest of the revolutionaries, we will need a court set-up to prosecute the founders of the revolt. I believe that you will want to show justice in this time of need Emperor, because further revolts may spring up if the Jewish population believes it is being persecuted." Said Lord Cassius.

"Perhaps the Emperor would grant me the permission to assemble a group of the House leaders to prosecute the criminals?" questioned Lord Cassius.

The two sat in the throne room discussing the problem for hours. The Emperor had many decisions to make, but at least he knew that the House of Huber was complely loyal to him and the Empire. Before leaving to consult General Draknith, Cassius made one more request of the Emperor.

"Sir, I believe that the House of Reichkaiser had an internal split many generations ago. If it were possible to find the heirs of this split, we may be able to dismiss the House of Reichkaiser, and instead grant all property, and rights to this other house. They would still be decendants of Vandal I, and therefore would be entitled to the privleges of the house. If you would like I can look into the matter." said Lord Cassius.

After that the two parted ways. Lord Cassius headed back to the Huberian Palace on the Nefres Heights to await the Emperor's orders, and to inform the other Lords of the situation.

Veraxx stood with his robe flowing in the breeze. The man looked out across the city of Domgriend with pride, but something hurt him internally. He recalled his days of youth with his family the House of Laros, the house that split from the main Vahalax line. Then he remembered Xer, his childhood friend and cousin. Each were destined to become heads of their seperate domains, but the two went their seperate ways later on. Veraxx went to Domgriend and Xer went to Arkan.

Now Xer was on the run as leader of rebellion, while Veraxx governed his city with benevolence. They called him Veraxx the Kind, but no one would belive he would have the strength to kill his friend if the time came. And that time would come soon enough.

At the Huberian Palace on the Nefres Heights in Artok:

"Edward, congradulations on becoming the next Lord of the House," said one of the family members.

"Thank you very much. It is an extremely honorable position, and I am hopeful that the House will continue on it's current path." Responded Lord Edward.

The Grand House of Huber was expanding. Recently, Lord Edward was made the Admiral of the Imperial Navy. New families were attaining Reights that had not been granted to a family unit in thousands of years. And previous family holdings such as the Octavian Fishing Co-operative were increasing profits with the large increase of families in the Northern Realm.

"Ah, Lord Fuagata, thank you for attending tonight's ceremonies," said Lord Edward, "I am pleased that you have accepted the Reight of Fuataga. It is a powerful position that not only confirms your leadership amongst your own family, but shows that the rest of the Grand House has accepted you as one of their own. You are no longer under the charge of the Dankis Family. You are now the first in hopefully a long line of Fuataga's from the Grand House of Huber."

Lord Fuataga, now many years in age, smiled at the head of the house, and the two talked as they walked through the palace.

"... and who might I ask is this?" Questioned Lord Fuataga?

"Ahh yes, this is the portrait of Emperor Huber I 'The Immortal'. He was the first member of this house to lead our Empire as Emperor. Many believe that his successful reign lead to the Golden Age of power that we are now seeing. He was an example to us all. Perhaps some day one of your decendants will grace our walls with his own Emperial portrait." Responded Lord Edward.

As the night continued many of the family members made there way out of the Palace. Many of the old family houses were now gone, as the family had moved all across the Empire. However, in their place rose new additions to the Grand Palace.

"I hear that you have been names Pro-Consul of the Empire?" Asked Lord Edward.

"Yes, the Emperor has placed me in charge of the Council. Your father was a great Pro-Consul, and I believe that his help in organizing the Lords has increased the efficiency of the Empire. I only hope that I do as well," said Lord Fuataga.

"I'm sure you will be an excellent Pro-Consul," responded Lord Edward, "However, my friend I must adjourn. The Emperor has called a Council, and I have much to plan for before then. I will see you in the Council chambers of the Palace in the morning. Have a good night Lord."

The remainder of the guests at the Palace made there way out into the moonlight, as Lord Edward was finishing up his presentation for the Council. He could not help but wonder what his new naval department would bring to the Empire. Perhaps new uncharted worlds, and new resources for the Empire to uncover...

Emperor Claude stood at his balcony outside of the Thrown Room in the Imperial Palace. Looking over the great city of Artok he pondered where he might lead the Empire after his most trusted General finished taking the rest of Shakas' cities. What he thought was an honor bestowed upon his greatest friend in the Empire turned out to be a slap in the face. Men like us belong on the battlefield not in the Imperial Halls, he thought. They'd attended Arkan Military School together and went on to command Imperial Armies during the Native American War. "I guess we are old men now and politics is all we have left." he muttered under his breath.....

His son, Sir Civius was also upset with him. With his father becoming Emperor he thought for sure he would be named Supreme Commander of the Imperial Armies. First Knight of Artonia was a very prominent military position but he was young and the world was before him. Octavian Culture took the equistrian military tradition very seriously and he was looked upon by his people with great admiration. The Emperor decided to retire for the evening still holding the 2 letters in his hand, one bearing the Reichkaiser crescent, the other an Octavian......

The Emperor sat looking over the battle plans with General Sereus II of Reichkaiser. "Our forces are spread out and many are recovering from their wounds." The Supreme Military Commander explained. "Many of our men shall perish as we will not have the luxury of barraging all of the cities before invading them." Claudes' heart was troubled, under his reign their has only been death from both battle and labor. Conquest was in his blood but their was only so much a man could take and he refused to harden his heart. He'd made his decision, damn be the council if they did not like it.
"Emperor Claude, welcome to Fua. What brings you this far north?" asked Pei Fuataga "I am visiting the cities of Artonia and bringing a message to the people. They are rioting in the streets, killing one another, hasn't their been enough bloodshed." The Emperor sat talking to the Pro-Consul for hours. Pei explained to the Emperor how the Fuataga Caste System worked. It was an ancient system that brought much prosperity to their people. Octavian law was explained to Pei and he was amazed at the deep background of the Emperial House. Then the Emperor was off in the cover of night, for the meeting was fast approaching......

Around a huge glowing, open Fire - sit all the Chieftains and Orators of the Fuataga Clan. They have gathered at Night fall {as tradition dictates} to discuss the recent events that have happened within the Artonian Empire. Pei Fuataga, the Chief of Chiefs, stands up. The flickering light of the Fire illuminates his tall, powerful body.

- "Greetings to you all, my Brothers. We are assembled here tonight, to discuss the recent rebellion that has infected this land in which we have all come to Love. This land; Artonia. Led by Xer; a Jewish fanatic - the House of Octavia has been overthrown. Emperor Claude, blessed be his name, is now residing in foreign lands. Betrayed by his own son: Civius, who now joins his ancestors in the after life - after being killed by Xer! I have discussed with our Huberian Brothers Chieftain; Lord Edward about a plan of action - his disdain for the Xer rebellion is obvious and clear, may Edward be blessed with many children by Fua and Taga! Brothers, let Fua and Taga give their wisdom to us tonight, blessed be this meeting - for it is now opened!"

The meeting went on for many hours, until the Sun started to raise its head from its sleep. A decision was made, after careful deliberation - all Castes; every woman man and child are to be summoned to the Fono-Nofo at full Sun rise. It is then, that a chosen Orator will tell all the Castes a set of Commands concerning the rebellion of Xer. Furthermore, all the generals of the Warrior Caste have already been informed to start preparing their troops for War. A military expedition from the Cities of "Fua" and "Fuataga" are to be made against the Rebels, immediately after the construction of the Jewish Temple in Fua is destroyed!

##Several Hours later - the Assembly is about to take place##

*All the Castes are called into the huge Fono-Nofo {Assembly Grounds}. The Chiefs and Orators are seated at the front, the Warrior Caste behind, and the Merchant and Servant Caste far behind. Until suddenly - Salu Niu, a Grey bearded Orator - whose hair is shaven {a tradition within the Orator Caste which symbolizes an Orator of great distinction}. And whom is highly respected by everyone in the Fuataga Clan, stands up, his left hand grasping onto his Orator staff... his eyes; faded, but still reflecting the Suns rays. He stands erect, and with some initial difficulty cries, at the top of his lungs - a set of rules that are to be obeyed by the whole Fuataga Clan*

Salu Niu; the Great Fuataga Orator

"LISTEN oh my Children! Listen to what the Head says! These Commands are to be obeyed without question!"

*Salu Niu, lifts his long Orator staff and points it straight into the Heavens above...*

"FOR as Fua and Taga are watching us! Do not let them be ASHAMED!"

*All the Castes cheer and are captivated by the seasoned Orators word-craft*

"By the words of the High-Castes these following Commands are to be handed down through the Generations, for as long as Xer - cursed be his name, remains Emperor of Artonia - let these Commands be followed! Anyone Man or Women... or even Child, found to be talking or even walking on the same foot path with a Jewish Xer rebel - is to be be-headed! Any Warrior from the Toa Caste who is seen infatuating with a Jewish Xer rebel girl, will be be-headed! It is GREAT honor to kill a hundred Jewish Xer rebels - a Warrior who does so will be given 50 tails of Cattle!!"

*One Warrior; Toa Ulu - a great fighter, stands up amongst his Caste brothers and with a booming voice; announces...*

"I, Toa Ulu, will kill so many Xer Dogs that Taga herself will kiss my bloody Blades!!!"

*The whole assembly Cheers and Screams War Chants! Salu Niu smiles, he knows that the Castes will be true to their every word. He waves his Orator staff, and the Castes quieten down... the War Chants slowly subside*

"Praise be to the Warrior Caste! For such displays of Blood lust! Alas, let the Commands be finished... All retired Warriors, are to report to the High-Caste assembly - their knowledge is needed for the approaching War. All Fuataga Citizens who reside in the City of "Fua" are to rebel against the building of Jewish Temple in the City itself!! Any Fuataga clan member who follows the way of the Jews is to have nothing to DO with the Xer fanatics! If it is found to be true that you even bow or show respect to a known Xer Jew, you will be be-headed! YOU and your family! That now concludes the....."

*Suddenly, the Naku and Lana Castes - of which many are devout Jewish converts begin to murmur, until finally a man from the Naku {Merchant Caste} - knowing that speaking amongst a gathered assembly with High-Caste attendants means certain death... Naku Tupe, the well known son of a rich Merchant {but none the less hated by the Higher Castes - due to the fact that his mother is of foreign blood} stands up and begins to speak, and with a firm voice he announces..*

"Being a Jew does not mean being a Xer rebel, most gracious Lords - and all High-Caste brothers, let my ancestor Naku kill me where I stand! But before he does so, let it be known that I detest these outdated and backward Commands passed down from the High-Castes, that have always hated us Jewish Converts! May Jehovah, God of all - take his revenge"

*With this, a great upstart is sparked - many Warriors begin to pull out their swords and many Naku and Lana women start to hold their children tightly... scared for their lives. Until, fearing an inter-Caste conflict - Salu Niu, with all the might and power his lungs could muster... Roars out words, that even a Lion would fear...*

"BROTHERS!! Let Fua and Taga CURSE us all!! For we have become like outsiders!! Bickering amongst ourselves!! Let my Staff be the Rod for which my grave will be MEASURED!!!!"

*Shocked and stunned by these words... the Castes bow, their heads to the dirt beneath them... {A sign of great apology}*

"Naku Tupe - your words are strong and powerful, but they are not the words of an Orator! You are the son of a wealthy Merchant, of whom many respect for his contributions to the Clan. But DO NOT forget your place! For the Vultures are hungry for those who step out of their place!! Me and my High-Caste brothers do not dis-favor the Jewish religion - but rather, the fact that Xer is a Jew! And therefore, he has shamed and dishonored ALL Jews! This is our Wisdom, this is our Logic! Let it be obeyed!!!"

*With this, the Old Orator slowly turns and walks back into the High-Caste council behind him... all the Castes are dismissed.. and peace, although unstable at this dire time.. is kept between the Castes*

Xer looked at the men assembled in front of him. These were what was left of the broken family of the Reichkaiser. There were seven of them, and they were the last seven men in the Reichkaiser family, save Xer himself. They were now the Arkan Guard, personal bodyguards to the Emperor. These men had loyalty drilled into their skull, so being a traitor was impossible.

The Reichkaisers were dying, Vandal's direct male-line had died out and now the House of Laros was on the verge. Xer, the Arkan Guard, and the Guardian of Vandal's Tomb were all that were left of the Arkan people, and only two royals remained. Xer's son was killed by Hindu radicals long ago, leaving only one possible heir to the throne, the last member of the House of Vahalax. A chill went down Xer's spine as he thought about her. Adelaide, was strong willed and stubborn but the Artonian Empire followed Salic Law, however if Xer remained on the throne it would be abolished. As he continued to think, Adelaide herself entered the room, blade in hand.

The duel for the throne between Adelaide Vahalax and Xer Laros began early in the morning after a breif breakfast. The two stood on the hill before Vandal the Victor's tomb. Each wore nothing more than a light shirt and war skirt. They were armed with their own blade, Adelaide used Vandal's while Xer used Domgriend's. As they squared off, a crowd of people surrounded the two, but they were forced back by the Arkan Guard.

"Scared, little girl?" Xer taunted with a big grin on his face, but Adelaide remained silent. The duel began instantly as Xer charged forward and stabbed at his opponent but Adelaide, blocked the blow and then cut down with here own sword. The blade grazed the Emperor's cheek and left a long, but not deep, cut. He stumbled back and then thrust forward again, this time slashing at Adelaide. It was like an dance as Xer slashed and Adelaide blocked. They repeated this several times before Adelaide went on the offensive, but they entered a sword lock and the sound of scraping metal resounded through the hills.

"I will not let you corrupt our family name any longer!" Adelaide yeled as she pushed Xer back and out of the sword lock. The Emperor fell bakc and lost his sword, which Adelaide caught swiftly in the air. When Xer looked up, his opponent had one blade at his thoat and the other raise high in the air. Without mercy, Adelaide brought the second blade down and sliced off the man's head. Ending Xer's breif rule, and beging a new era of reberth for the Reichkaisers.

The formation of the ICFL "The Independent Cities of the Fuataga Loyalists" league meant many things for the Fuataga Clan; a sense of Nationalism amongst the Fuataga Castes, a renewed loyalty of old Oaths made to the Imperial House, skepticism towards the Jewish faith and most of all: a monolithic display of disrespect and denouncement towards any Emperor who doid not deserve the throne of Artonia. But as the High-Castes sent messengers to all the neighboring Villages and Cities under the Governorship of Fuataga, telling them that the ICFL must re-assimilate back into the Empire... Pei Fuataga pondered, ever so slowly - on the possibility of there ever being a Fuataga Emperor in which to rule over the Artonian lands. It would of course never be he himself, Pei knew his time had passed - he had achieved great things during his life time. But his time had come, Fua and Taga were waiting at the crossroads of fate. To welcome a son home. But Pei spoke his thoughts allowed, knowing that no one was there...

"Fuataga Dynasty, I like the sound of that"

Just as Pei uttered those words, a tall young man - with long black hair and high-cheek bones walked into Pei's abode. With him; came Salu Niu the seasoned Word-Smith, a long time friend and close adviser of Pei. Salu Niu, although aided by his Long Orator Staff and a small child, undoubtedly one of his grand children, in order to walk properly... seemed to be passing into history as Pei himself now was. Salu Niu's face looked just as old and withered as Pei's. It would seem that wisdom was not more precious than youth after all Pei thought to himself. Alas, it was Salu Niu's eyes - they retained their colour; of blackened charcoal, his eyes slowly moved up and down Pei's body and when his eyes met Pei he smiled slowly and said....

"My Lord, My Head, My High Chieftain. Though the Sand Dunes are strong, they are guided by the gusts of Wind. Though the body is tall and slender and powerful, it is but guided by the Head. Though the Sun is setting down between your Horizon - your golden rays have set a-light the skies of our History!"

Pei - felt his eyes beginning to hold water...barely able to get up from his resting bed, he struggled for a time then stood half erect. He leaned on his head-board and announced....

"My close friend, My most trusted adviser. Call the candidate here, if it pleases you"

Salu Niu replied in the traditional manner...

"Yes my Lord - it does please me greatly"

With that, Salu Niu motioned his hand to the young future ruler behind him. The tall heir stepped forward and knelt just in front of Pei. He kissed Pei's feet, such is the tradition amongst the Fuataga. With that, he spoke a proverb that has been passed down from generation to generation. Back to the words of Fua, when he was receiving power from Atua, his father:

"If I am to rule, it is by wisdom. If I am to love, it is by passion. If I am to lead, it is by the Head. If I am to move, it is by the Body. And if I am to carry, it is by the Feet"

Pei Fuataga smirked slightly, it had been the same for himself when he uttered the exact same proverb. All those seasons ago. Pei then placed his hand on the man knelt before him - and with a loud cry that made Niu Salu's spine shiver and the small child freeze in place, Pei said:

"IT IS DONE!"

- Salu Niu started to morn. As Pei Fuataga fell back onto his resting place and breathed his last breath. With that; the young man stood up. It was an emotional time, and undoubtedly the most important time in his whole life. But he had to stick to protocol, he had to follow tradition. As Salu Niu dropped his Orators Staff and cried with much grief for Pei, the young man walked outside - to where all the Castes were gathered. He raised both his arms. And with a loud booming base, echoed the call of Pei....

"IT IS DONE!!!"

With that, all the Castes - Man, Women and Child dropped their head to the dirt beneath them and cried and recalled the great deeds that Pei Fuataga had accomplished for his people... The official mourning of Pei Fuataga had begun.

"Lord Edward, your horse awaits you," said the young man.

Edward looked down at the boy and smiled. These were troubled times. Lord Edward and Lord Draknith had assembled the men of the Huberian Army and Draknith's Army, who's talented divisions of soldiers fought in the First Native American War. Everyone had been assembled to make the march against the Rebel Leader Xer. As Lord Edward was about to begin his march Lord Draknith quickly approached.

"My Lord although today is a great day for battle, we will see none of it." Said Lord Draknith, "The Rebels cousin and heir to the family of Reichkaiser's throne has challenged the Rebel leader to a duel."

Lord Edward was besides himself. He was unfamiliar with the house of Reichkaiser's ways, and quickly asked Lord Draknith about the situation. The Draknith family and the Reichkaiser family had always been close. Ever since Lucius Draknith went on the hunt, the families shared many common bonds.

As the two Lords finished their discussion, Lord Edward made his proclamation to the troops assembled:

Today my brothers we fight not to end this tyrany but to secure the society that we have built all these years! The Rebel scum finds itself in a pitched battle of good and evil. We are not sure who shall win the fight, but we can make sure that our nation's capital and Lords are safely secured within it's boundaries. We march for Artok, and should we come across any rebel, make sure you hang him from the highest tree, so that all his kind will know their punishment!

With that the Huberian Armies marched to the capital. Their goal, as proclaimed is to protect the lives within, but a strong leader Edward had become and his view on the Empire was great... possibly so great he would allow no other to destroy his world...

"My Lord," said the boy out of breathe, "My Lord, our dearest friend Pei Fuagata has passed."

As if lightning had struck the Lord from the sky, a crashing halt occured to the lines. Lord Edward stood unable to speak.

"How did it happen?" Questioned Edward.

"We believe that he passed under his own will," responded the boy.

Lord Edward thought for a moment and then gave the boy instructions:

You are to return to Huber, and tell Lord Dankis that I have still much to do. He will need to handle the situation. Make sure he secures the funds and materials to build the monument I have already planned. The monument is to stand on the Eastern face of the Palace in Artok. We will arrive their soon to ensure nothing of ill will has occured.

With that the boy turned to where he came from. The new statue of Pei would be great. It would serve to show the greatness of the man, and the House that he stood so proud to serve.

The army continued on it's march. Lord Edward was pleased to be back on the road. His friend may have passed, but now there was noone to keep him from accomplishing his goal!

King Claude approached the great Capital of the Empire. Riding with him was the Octavian Gaurd, an elite army under the direct command of Claude himself. Every man was of Octavian blood and was raised from childhood to protect the houses' Nobles. The death of Xer has fueled the more radical Jewish citizens. Most however are very happy that their Monotheistic views are shared by their country. The house of Octavia were marching to assist their Huberian brothers and quell any remnants of the resistance in Artok....

Now with the city calm and free Imperial elections to take place, Adelaide picked up the Vahalax Royal Standard and waved it in the air yelling,

"Vandal's true heirs are back!"

Pei Eliko entered Artok - it was Grand, markets filled the streets. Everyone was eager to sell and buy, sell and buy.

Such a busy City ,this is indeed, Eliko thought to himself. He come to visit an old friend of his Uncle Pei Fuataga - Lord Dankis', as he had heard word of a Monument being built in honor of Pei Fuataga, and came to give tidings and personal thanks on behalf of the Fuataga Family.
Just then, a stunningly beautiful lady caught his curious gaze. Long flowing red hair, a tall yet petite body and magical green eyes. Accompanied by a lovely milky like complexion - Eliko wondered what her name was, where she was from... She had captivated him yet hid did not anything about her. Anything about, this cotton-skinned Angel. Eliko's willful wishing got the best of him, but an announcement from one his soldiers soon brought his thoughts, back to reality.

"My Lord, My Head, My High-Chief. Lord Dankis' is ready to receive you now"

"Very well then", Eliko was grateful that Lord Dankis could receive him on such short notice... but secretly - Eliko wished to talk to a certain girl in the Market place...

"Your troops are stationed at their positions sir. Noone will be able to enter the Palace without your specific instructions," exclaimed Capt. Hensen.

"Excellent, I will be leaving here soon, and making my way to the Palace with the other Lords. Please ensure that my horse is ready," responded Lord Edward.

The Huberian Palace was alive with activity. Lord Edward Huber had made it his priority to bring the capital to it's knees, and ensure military security throughout. Many of the Lords of the Empire were making their way into the capital. Soon a new Emperor would be crowned, and the Council would be meeting. Edward wanted to make sure that everything went as smooth as possible. There had been some street brawls in the aftermath of the civil war, but Edward was quick to react. Some thought of his ways as too assertive, but Edward would have none of it. It was his belief that the Empire could break at any moment, and should that happen, he knew he would be called to defend it! Before Edward left for the Palace Lord Dankis entered into the room.

"My Lord, I have come as you requested," said Lord Dankis.

"Yes, Milton, thank goodness you are here," responded Edward, "I need you to handle the statue ceremonies. The new chief of the Fuataga family will be arriving soon. As your family has the most contact with the Fuataga's I wish you to help him in any way he needs."

Lord Dankis went over the final plans with the head of the Huber House, and then made his way outside where Eliko was wating for him.

"Eliko?" Questioned Milton Dankis, "Hello, and welcome to the Nefres Heights."

Eliko looked with awe upon the Palace. The House of Huber was powerful indeed. The grand marble Palace was the envy of many of the Aristocrats, and it was the first time Eliko had seen the magnificent center of Huberian Law.

"My Lord Dankis, please accept my humble gratitude for this great honor you have given to my family," said Eliko with great humility.

Milton was taken aback by the comment. Never had he seen someone so enthusiastic about their praise. It was usually Milton's father, Polydormus Dankis who had handled the Fuataga familiy's needs. However, now it was up to him to ensure that the family's remained in good standing with the House of Huber.

"Thank you very much Eliko," responded Milton, "but you don't need to address me as such, please just call me Milton."

Eliko looked surprised at Milton's request. Never has a superior leader talked so relaxed with a high cheif. Eliko was sure that he would be repremanded for his casual display with the leader of the Dankis family, but it was the Lord's wished that he be addressed as so.

"Okay... Milton, thank you for the invitation to this grand Palace." responded Eliko.

The two discussed the plans for the unveiling of the statue that would be presided over by Lord Edward, and all the higher-ups in the House in attendance. And then from nowhere Eliko became very disinterested in what Milton had to say.

"... Eliko... Eliko... Oh I see what's preoccupying you." Said Lord Dankis.

It was from the side of the Palace that young Marissa Huber was making her rounds. Eliko was enammered by her beauty, and nothing seemed to break his concentration on the girl.

"You know it works much better if you go introduce yourself to her," said Milton

"But such a beautiful woman would want nothing to do with me," responded Eliko.

"Oh nonsense," replied Milton. And before Eliko could do anything about it, Milton had requested Marissa to join the two.

"Marissa, this is Lord Eliko Fuataga. He's here for the statue unveiling, and it's his first time comming to the Palace." Said Milton.

Marissa smiled at the young chief, and put out her hand to shake. Eliko was nervous but accepted her generosity and shook her hand.

"Marissa, I'd hate to ask you this, but I'm swamped with everything Edward needs done before all the Lords arrive in the capital. Would you finish up the tour with Eliko?" Questioned Milton, "Oh and try not to be too harsh on him, I think he has a thing for you," said Milton in a whisper.

Marissa seemed to delight in the idea of showing a dignitary around the Palace grounds. In fact she felt a strange connection to the man, and wished to learn more about him. The two left after saying goodbye to Milton, and proceeded to continue their tour.

Eliko Fuataga was no coward, at the age of 13 he be-headed an old Low-Caste man for raising his voice to him. At the age of 14, Eliko underwent the "Tau Pei So'i" - a grueling tattooing ritual {in which only a few families within the clan still adhere to}. The tattooing took four paiful days, Eliko went into shock more than seven times throughout the ordeal - but by Fua and Tagas' mercy, survived. Although the art of Fuataga Chiefs having to be tattooed as a right of passage into manhood has of late been neglected by many Chiefs, it is still followed by a rare few... In fact, Pei Fuatagas' father; Pei Atua had his Tattoos done but Pei Fuataga himself did not. Eliko was considered by most of the Toa Caste as a Warrior-Chieftain; a man who obtained his tattooing at such a young age surely reaps bravery in time to come! At the age of 20, Eliko killed not one but two Lions, who were about to attack a Low-Caste child...

But Eliko; slayer of the disrespectful, wearer of the Tau Pei So'i and slaughterer of Lions - found himself as scared as a field mouse in front of this Beauty that now stood before him. Trying to maintain ones composure, while in the presence of such Angelic divinity is not the easiest thing to do... especially when that Divine Angel has a name: 'Marissa Huber'. I wonder if she even remembers me from the Market place earlier this morning - Eliko was nervous, what if she had remembered and just didn't care about some dark skinned Chieftain from the North? Eliko had not idea why he was so attracted to Marissa but he just knew that he was. Eliko quickly gazed at Marissa while she walked in front of him, seemingly pre-occupied with talking about the Palace; its purpose and place within the Artonian Empire.

Only a mere head shorter than himself, Marissa was slender and petite. May Fua and Taga restrain the passion that this woman stirs within my body - Elikos mind was in a flurry, but he had to control himself, his urges... He had to compose his formality. After all - he was a Chief! Not an animal on heat!

The two walked around the many halls that the Huberian Palace had to offer. Eliko was mesmerized at Marrissas' ability to re-call the long history of the Huberian Blood lines. Heh, she would make a good Orator - Eliko thought to himself. He tried his very best to re-frame from talking to her or looking her directly in her eyes... those Green magical eyes. Marrissa herself was becoming a tad annoyed at Elikos' seemingly overly formal conduct. It was as if he was avoiding conversing with her properly, whenever she would ask a question he would reply bluntly - as if wanting to deter further conversation with her. But Marissa was far from a timid little royal, she was her own lady! If he thinks he can keep shunning me off like this, he has another thing coming... - Marissa deviantly thought.

"Do you like disrespecting Ladies Sir Eliko?" Marissa flashed a hidden Smirk - "or is keeping ones words to oneself a prized attribute in Fuataga society?"

Eliko stopped walking, he wasn't sure exactly how to reply. He had been groomed for formality and tradition. For protocols and rules. Not for conversing with a beautiful woman.... With a slight pause, Eliko grinned and replied:

"My Lady, have I done something wrong?" playing it coy was Elikos best position for now. Eliko tried his best not to stare at Marissas' lushes red lips. "If I have, forgive my placidness"

Marissa wasn't going to take the bait, she was far too cunning for this Lion Hunter...

"Then I here by forgive you, for your arrogance and ignorance!" Marissa turned on her heels and continued the tour. Leaving Eliko slightly offended and somewhat bewildered.

"It pleases me GREATLY that a lady of Huber would forgive a man of Fuataga for such ARROGANT and IGNORANT antics..." A heavy tone of sarcasm lingered in the air, as if falling from every word that Eliko had just spoken.

Marissa stopped. Her back was to Eliko, smirking devilishly she turned around quickly and abruptly until she was facing Eliko dead in the eye. She went to open her mouth but her throat seemed to stall on her... Elikos' eyes, they were so dark. So dark that Marissa felt herself drowning in them - as if his eyes were two Raven wings stretching their full span. Marissa felt her breathing start to escalate slowly. Eliko knew this was his chance, he had been yearning to do this ever since he saw her in the Market place...

Not wanting to break her focus, Eliko carefully leaned in.. closer and closer their two eyes met. Until finally - Eliko was but a breath away from Marissas' mouth. Dropping his eyes down onto her lips, Eliko spoke softly a small extract from a famous Fuataga proverb...

"If I am to love, it is by passion..." With every word whispered, a small shadow of breath planted itself on Marissas' velvet red lips. Marissa couldn't fight it any longer - she had to fly away with this Dark Raven...

Just a split moment before their passionate mouths met.. A familiar voice echoed down the Palace Hall. Lord Dankis' had just come back from a discussion with the masons concerning the Monument for Pei Fuataga.

"Lord Eliko - the monument has begun construction. Come, let us go to the construction site - I... pray that Lady Marissa was an able tour guide?"

Eliko frantically stood away from Marissa. His lips would have to wait...

"Ah'uh yes Lord Dank..I mean Milton - Marissa was very helpful in aiding my understanding of the Palaces history and importance"

Marissa blushed immensely - before quickly following both Lord Dankis and Eliko, who were already heading towards the construction site.

Heh, Able indeed..... Lord Dankis' thought quietly to himself - Able indeed.....

"... well we shall see what her highness is able to accomplish." Finished Lord Edward.

The Huberian House was finishing up one of it's meetings in the Palace as the Empress was taking the throne in the capital. Huberian forces were still quite heavy in the capital following the election. Although most of the milita troops were headed back to their homes and farms, the regular elites were still armed and ready for battle. Some of the citizens were worried about the military walking their streets, but a large group of people welcomed the troops as no riots had broken out since thier arrival. The mood in the capital was uneasy. Noone knew what the future would bring, and if civil war would break out again. For the time though thoughts in Lord Edward's head drifted to another topic.

"So, I hear my young daughter has been seen wondering around with the cheif of the Fuataga's?" Questioned Lord Edward.

Lord Dankis' face turned red. It was in fact he who had put the two together, and he now hoped that the Lord of the House would not reprimand him for his actions.

"A good union it could create between our people's; Solidify the already great alliance we have with the Fuataga's." Followed up Lord Edward.

"Yes sir, they have been seen around the Palace together. Nothing more than a common friendship though I believe my Lord," said Lord Draknith.

"All the same, I would like to discuss this matter further," said Lord Edward, "Please inform my daughter that I would like to have lunch with her today. It will give us a chance to uncover what is going on here."

The remainder of the House leadership left the office of the Lord of the House. Lord Edward made his way towards the Palace gardens to meet his daughter. As he approached the gardens he noticed his daughter and Eliko sitting near the red roses talking.

"Marissa my daughter, how are you? I did not expect to see you for a little while longer," said Lord Edward, "ahh, and Chief Eliko, how good it is to see you also. I am sure the Empress will make you a Lord soon, and I'm sure you will be as good if not better than you Uncle Pei was."

Eliko was surprised by the Lord's sudden appearance. He felt a drop in his stomach, but he did not know why. He had not done anything innapropriate, or had he. Perhaps he was to have talked to the Lord of the House before courting one of it's daughters, but if he hadn't and now knowing that Marissa was the Lord of the Houses daughter... 'Oh no,' he thought to himself.

"Well since you are already here perhaps you would accompany me on a walk through the gardens my daughter," said Lord Edward.

Marissa looked into her father's eyes and knew that this was more than just a casual stroll. Her father had become much more serious since the civil war. She also knew that Eliko was not invited.

"Well I will talk to you later Eliko, thank you so much for informing me about the flowers of your home region," said Marissa gently letting down Eliko.

Eliko left the two and made his way towards the Palace.

"Such a beautiful sight these gardens are. Did you know that I used to play in these gardens, much to the annoyance to the grounds crews," said Lord Edward.

Marissa looked up at her father, she was not in the mood to small talk. She knew there was something her father wished to say, and she wanted it said.

"Father, I know you are not here to talk to me about flowers. It's about Eliko isn't it?" Questioned Marissa.

"You know me too well my daughter. Yes, in fact I do wish to talk to you about Chief Eliko. He is soon to be a Lord, a servant to the state. I know you enjoy spending time with him, but it this truly what you want..." said Lord Edward his daughter interupting him

'... I love him father!" exclaimed Marissa, "He treats me like a person, not the daughter of the Lord of the Huberian House. There is noone I would rather be with."

Lord Edward smiled at his daughter and said, "All I've ever wanted was you to be happy my daughter. You are at the age where these decisions need to be made. If this is what you want, I will not interfere. However, you will need to make a decision. You are a very desired individual, and many suiters wish to make you their own. I will speak with Eliko and the Fuataga's family council to see what their wishes would be."

With that Marissa smiled and gave her father a big hug and kiss. She had not been so happy in a long time. As she began to walk away, her father called to her, "Forgetting something my dear?"

Marissa turned to her father, "Sorry father... I love you!"

Lord Edward smiled and watched his daughter turn away, he could have sworn she was skipping. Oh well the Lord thought to himself. 'If it's not an Empire I'm working to build, it's this family.'

The Empress stood out on the balconey of the Palace, dressed in fine garmets and covered with gold. She held a sword in her hand. It was the Sword of Cathal, the one she had used to kill Xer. The young woman swung the sword several times, remembering how it felt to wield such a blade. Solemnly, Adelaide sheathed the blade and placed it on her hip. After staying out for a little longer, she returned to her chambers where a servant stood in wait. She dissmissed him and looked to the left wall of her room. It was covered in the relics of her ancestors. Sereus' retractable blades, Vandal's bronze armor and the knife of Laros. Amidst the relics, was a helmet that hund from a hook. She walked over and placed her hand on one of the cheek plates. The helmet had belonged to her lover and would-be husband, Adrewl. He died in combat during the assualt on Fua. It was said that he died defending a group of Jewish pilgrims that were being attack by both Artonian and Native soldiers, think that they were enemy spies. The historian at the battle recorded that when his commanding officer asked him why he as killing his comrades his response was-

"My first loyalty is to the Riechkaiser family, my second is God, and third is you. I have no loyalty to those pigs who dare attack civilians." After saying those word, his officer order him killed. Ten minutes later, Adrewl was killed by a later follower of Xer.

The Empress dissmissed the thoughts and walked out of her chambers to meet with some old relatives. Unbeknowst to Xer and Adelaide, Vandal had four sons, not three. And his descendents are still alive and thriving, making up 35% of Domgriend's total population. They are known as the Jako dům Rozsudek, translated to House of Judgment in Artonian.

When she reached the meeting room, she found three elderly men sitting at the table. As soon as she arrived, they bowed. When she sat down they introduced themselves.

"I am Zákon," The leader began, "and these are my brothers, Náboženství and Ochrana. We are ther joint leaders of the House of Rozsudek. It is an honor to meet a relative and Empress." They smiled at Adelaide who in turn smiled back.

"I hear you have alot of young, storng men in you family." The Empress began, "Ask them if they would like to join the Royal Army."

The Sun was just peaking over the rolling hills beyond the Palace, Eliko stretched his arms - his chiseled abdominal muscles flexed as he let loose a mighty yawn. It was morning. Eliko gazed around the Palace chamber that was assigned as his resting place by Lord Dankis'. It was Grand to say the least; fur skins blanketed the marble floor, solid Gold ornaments and trinkets dotted the walls - not to mention the beautiful red velvet curtains that draped ever so elegantly on each side of his chamber window. Those red curtains... much like the blossoming lips of Marissa Eliko thought to himself, he thought about how everything was changing in his life just because of some Girl. But Eliko knew deep down that Marissa was much much more than that. She had a strong will and personality which was very rare amongst the women within the Fuataga. Her strength of character was stubborn; yet so attractive and robust. This, accompanied by her dashing Goddess like features all equated to what Eliko perceived as the 'perfected match'. Before Eliko drowned in his thoughts, a knock suddenly presented itself on the Oak Wooden door of his chamber. A rush of excitement filled Elikos' body and mind... his perfect match had come to see him.

"Come in" Standing up from his bed, he made sure that the top half of his body was completely naked. Breathing in deeply he held his breathe from escaping for a short while before releasing it, this had the affect of causing his muscles to become extremely tense. Lets see how she likes this, Eliko devilishly thought to himself.

The heavy door opened; and true to Elikos' hopes. In walked the most captivating women his eyes had ever witnessed - Marissa Huber. Elikos' eyes scanned her body, ever so slowly, taking his time to make sure that she saw his eyes hungrily devour ever inch of her beauty. Marissa blushed heavily; her cheeks nearly matching her magical red lips. Eliko flashed a deviant grin before his eyes met Marissas'..... Marissas' Jade eyes reflected her feelings towards Eliko - Love with a small hint of Lust.

Eliko took the offensive. Leaning one arm on the side of the door frame, he exposed his long slender arms. While making sure that his bottom half traditional bark cloth slipped a bit, exposing the bordering hairs of his manhood. Marissas' eyes drifted down, she hungrily stared at his bark cloth - before lifting her eyes back up to Elikos' ever so dark eyes. Marissa felt her heart increase in beats... this Dark man seemed to bewitch her... a spell, that Marissa would gladly fall victim to. Marissa felt her body start to tremble - until finally she spoke.

"Eliko, I just had to see you!" Marissa knew that although her father seemingly approved her infatuation with Eliko. It would be very unwise for her to be seen making Love to Eliko; without formal announcement to the Huberian people by her Father. Eliko leaned in slowly to kiss her - but Marissa, fought herself not to and leaned away. Eliko knew the reason why, he just did not want to believe it...

"What is wrong my Jade Angel? Why won't you kiss me?"

Marissa looked away - "It's the right thing to do Eliko, we have to wait on my Father"

Eliko knew she was right, he do not want the alliance between the Fuataga Clan and the Grand house of Huber to deteriorate just because he could not control his urges. Strong as they may be. Suddenly, Eliko smiled. An idea just bloomed in his head.

"Marissa, I will take you to your Father. It is time we let our Love for each other be known to the WORLD!!" With this, Marissa leaped up and wrapped her thighs around Elikos' waist - and ever so carefully, planted a soft kiss on his cheek.

"I LOVE you Eliko!" Marissa meant every word... She knew deep down that if she was going to be married to someone, it was going to be Eliko.

Eliko smiled, they both made their way to the Chamber of Lord Edward. But Elikos' smile started to fade...

He knew that his people would find it hard to agree to a Marriage between himself and a lady of non-Fuataga blood. Whatever it takes - I will prevail! Eliko thought to himself, before taking up Marissas' hand and continuing their way to her Fathers room. To both, their destinies.

The Empress examined her cousins with strict expectations. These were men of the warrior class. She expected nothing other than absolute perfection. Adelaide was not let down. Nearly two thousand men of the Rozsudek family responded to the call of duty. Now, they were to be trained by the Empress herself. After another few moments, she stood at attention and bowed to her soldiers, who in turn took a knee.

"You are descendants of Vandal," She began, raising her voice so that all could hear. "Now, I expect that you will do exactly what he would. And that is to kill every foe of the Reichkaiser family! For the next three weeks, I will personally train you to be the disciplined, mobile killing machines that we were bred as!" Cheers began to erupt from the ranks as men began to rise. Then there were praises to Adelaide, filling her body with power.

Empress Adelaide immediately got down to work, they were to run around the city of Arkan three times. If it took them more than an hour, they would run it again. From there, she gave them each a single bow with three arrows. After four hours, if they didn't kill a deer they would have no meals for the rest of the day because the deer was their meal. Then they would duel each other, the victors would sleep on beds while the losers would sleep on the stone ground. They repeated this for the first two weeks of vigorous training. Eventually, the Empress would have to stop duels because the men were so well matched. And now her men requested that they sleep on the stone. On the third week, Adelaide knew that it was time.

"Men," She yelled to them after they were assembled before the barracks. The Empress was dressed in a simple cloak. "You have passed with flying colors! So, I have decided to test your stomachs. I requested that three of Xer's most prominent officers be brought here for execution. Now, I will release them out of the city, and you will hunt them. I will give you nothing to hunt them with, this will show me which of you is the best. And of those who have killed one of the three, will be brought before me. I will choose one, and he will be your commanding officer." The young Empress unsheathed Cathal's blade and held it high above her head. Abruptly, she thrust it into the ground and grabbed the corner of the cloak. Without warning, the Empress ripped off her cloak and revealed her naked and perfect body.

"Now go, and kill them!" All of the men cheer and released their war cries, they then ran forward and toward the exits of the city passing the clothesless Empress. After they left, a servant came and gave the Empress another cloak.

"Send a message to the Octavian House," She told the servant. "I wish to have a meeting with them."

Lord Edward was failing in health. He had lived a long time, and was ready to pass on to the afterlife. However, there were still matters of state to be taken care of, and with Marshall Huber, the heir to the Reight of Huber, still too young to handle the matters, Lord Edward took it upson himself to finish what he had started.

The new Empress had taken her first session, and Edward was glad to see that she had not destroyed the framework of the Empire. Although upset about many of the new 'democratic' ideals she proposed, as they interfered with long standing traditional rules that had existed since the founding of the Empire. Edward was in no mood to give up what he saw as his right to be above those in the lower caste of society. All the same though, the leader of the Grand House of Huber worked along side the new administration to provide the Empire with all that it needed.

As of recent news the relationship between the Lord's daughter and Eliko, head of the Fuataga Family, was heating up. Edward knew a decision was going to have to be made. At a recent council session Edward had proposed the idea of the two families forming a more solid bond than was currently in place. The Dankis family, who had always been the more open family in the house, agreed that the union would be of great benefit to the people of the house. The Draknith's on the other hand were absolutly against the marriage. There had been a long standing opposition by the Draknith's against any sort of mingling between families. In fact the ancient first rebellion was in part lead by the Draknith's disdain for outsiders. In the end though, the Draknith's would follow the ruling by the council.

It was a colder night when Eliko and Marissa knocked on the large wooden doors leading to the Lord's Office.

"Please enter," said Lord Edward working hard on the extermination papers for the imprissioned Jews in Huber.

"My Lord," said Eliko, "please excuse my intrusion, but I needed to speak with you."

Eliko was nervous. Although the two men were leaders of their respective families, this was the Lord of the House, and the father to the woman Eliko wanted to marry.

"My Lord, I have worked very hard to gain your trust, and the trust of this house, and.." said Eliko being interupted by Edward.

"Yes, and now you wish to gain the trust of my daughter." Responded Edward

Eliko was stunned, he did not know how to respond. Eventually though he found the words, "Yes, my Lord. That is correct."

A smile started on Edward's face as he began to speak, "You have been a good leader Eliko, and my daughter has told me much of your honesty and love for her. You have treated her right, and your sucess has increased. I recently brought this matter before the House, and although your love was not accepted by all, it was the decision to allow you two to develop your love further."

Eliko and Marissa were exstatic. They did not think that it would be so easy to persuade the family to allow their marriage. Perhaps Eliko thought that the Huber's would be much like his family. In the end though they were quite different.

"There will need to be some rules for this union however. For one, your offspring, should they be male, would become possible heirs to the Huberian throne. Therefore, the Fuataga's will have to name the decendants of your line to be leader' of your family. The rest will be handled between Lord Dankis and your family, as he will be representing the House in this union. I unfortuanly am under heavy burden by the Empress to achieve sucess in our fight against the former rebels." Said Lord Edward.

Eliko was happy but at the same time distressed. The news he would have to deliver to his own family may bring about an end to his love. Would the elder's allow their rules to be puyt to rest, and allow Eliko to become the first King of their family; Creating his own dynasty from which to rule? Many questions were begining to form in the man's head, but at least he knew that his one wish could be satisfied... he could marry his love.

The two excused themselves from the office. Both giddy with excitment, the two embrassed in the corridor, and headed off into the night. Lord Edward however was still very busy.

"Justin, please have these documents sent to the Palace. They need to arrive immediatly, as the Empress will have to sign off on the death warrants." Said Lord Edward.

With the Empress' decree that all rebels held in Huber were to be executed, Edward needed the official stamp of the Imperial House. He also wanted the Empress to know that the Grand House of Huber was not in favor of the 'Rights' that she wished to grant to all citizens of the Empire. Edward was a strict leader, and his views were commonly viewed as ancient. He understood that the Empire was moving to more modern viewpoints, but he was not interested in the idea that he would be subject to the laws of the commoners.

As the night passed, Edward made his way into his bed. His final act that night was to proclaim that his son Marshall would inherit the Reight of Huber, making him lord of the House. However, since Marshall was still too youg, his Uncle Milton Dankis would head the family should something occur to Edward... and as it would be Edward never woke from his sleep that next morning. The black drapes were put up in the Palace, and the rest of the Empire knew that the Huber's would soon be presenting their next Lord. What they did not know was the power that the next heir would wish to inherit.

"My Lord, your wife has entered into labor. We will inform you of her progress," said the doctor to Lord Edward.

Lord Edward had a worried, but happy look on his face. This was his second child. Would it be a girl again, or would the Lord finally have his son to take the Reight of Huber? At this moment he could only speculate, but no screams were comming from the room.

'She screamed for hours when Marissa came. I hope she will survive this one.' thought Lord Edward.

Roughly an hour had passed, and the occassional moan was uttered, and a slight scream here and there, but then that familiar sound came... the crying of a baby.

Lord Edward rushed into the room where his wife and the doctor were, "Tell me please, tell me."

The doctor came over to the Lord with the child in hand. Edward looked at his wife who was still conscious and smiling at him. Edward smiled back at his wife and looked at the child... a boy... A BOY!!!

"It's a son, I have a son!" Exclaimed Lord Edward thoughout the halls of the Palace with his son in hand.

As he re-entered the room the doctor was talking with Edward's wife. She did not looked pleased, and as the doctor left the room, Edward sat down to speak with her.

"What is it my dear, what's wrong," questioned Edward?

"The doctor thinks he will not last. The delivery was too easy, and our son too small," responded Edward's wife.

Lord Edward became upset and rushed off into his chambers with his infant son in hand. "I don't care what they say my son. You will be the mightiest Huber there ever was. You wished to save your mother from the pain and anguish didn't you? Already, I can see greatness in your eyes. But what should I call you... Marshal. That's it." said Lord Edward.

From that night on, Marshal was in constant attention from his wise father. Although two more sons were born, Marshal surpassed all in every feat imaginable. They naturally followed his leadership, and soon the boy began developing a name for himself around the capital.

At three years the young Marshal had already begun reading and writing in not only the common Imperial language, but also the ancient Huberian language. When five years came to the boy he was found mentoring many of his classmates in the various arts of the day. Quickly becomming a leader of the many Aristocratic youth. During an exercise at age ten Marshal showed his vastly developing body during the annual Royal Wrestling matches, where he gain victory over the reigning champions from the Reichkaiser family. When a war games match pitted the current Huberian General's army against the lesser army in which Marshal asked to be placed, the General was outmaneuvered and defeated by the young man. Soon after the disgraced General forfeited his command to Nantuck Draknith during the Imperial Civil War.

Edward's greatest son was becoming a man, and with each year the Lord grew weaker. Soon he knew his death would be comming, but he felt he had so much more to teach Marshal. Before his final night, Edward passed his Reight onto Marshal proclaiming that everything would be his.

In the years while under the Lord Protectorate, Marshal focused on building his and the houses wealth. The new understanding of the secret substance sought by Huberians for many years had been uncovered. Gunpowder was the way of the future, and Marshal took advantage of the family's monopoly on the substance. Quickly the Huberian Munitions Foundry was formed, and massive profits stared flowing it with everyone looking to obtain substance. Mining was increased with it's powerful blasting abilities, and the war department quickly fell in love with the model 1694 musket, and model 1697 cannon that transformed the art of war.

At Marshal's coranation his speech inspired the whole house. He discussed his views of the Empire, how it's long traditions had bolstered it's success. That this success was due to the Royal Houses that forged from the bonding of the four great father's of the Empire. He showed how the current regime was destroying the thousands of years of great real reform. How the Houses were being forced to conform to 'common law', and being denied to control their own fates and the fates of their respective Houses.

His voice was loud, and his ability to bring forth those to his cause was great. He was strong, handsome, a genius, and young. No other politician could claim the same, and soon Marshal knew he would have to sit by and allow the destruction of his empire, or take the cause of Imperial Power up by himself.

Empress Adelaide looked out of her balconey again. She held the hand of her young son, Sean. He looked much like Vandal, with platinum blode hair and carefully chisled features. He tugged on her dress with his free hand.

"Mathair?" Sean said, speaking in the old Arkan tounge. Adelaide turned to him and nodded her head. "Why is your belly so big?" He pointed to her womb. She laughed and explained to him that in her womb was his new brother of sister.

"Oh," Sean said, his vision turning to two men on the ground that were conversing. He began to stare at them for a long time, and then jumped in suprise when they looked up at them and began to move toward the palace. Then his vision turned to another man who was walking up to the guards at the front of the palace.

"Those men are gonna hurt us!" He yelled. Adelaide was confused, but then nearly fell back in suprise when she saw the two men armed with handguns, that were poorly concealed. They got up against the building. The man who spoke to the guards suddenly ran away, and the Guards followed him, whil the other two made their way inside. She ran to the door, dragging young Sean along. She grabbed a pistol that was hanging on the wall and she ran out the door. The two guards at the door turned to aske her what she needed, when gunshots went off and all four of them sped off. But when they reached the front room, they found the three men in shackles, kneeling before several guards. Adelaide pushed forward and asked the guards what had happened. She let go of Sean's hand and had dropped the pistol. The young boy took the weapon and waddled over to one of the men.

Before anyone saide anything, the young boy pulled the trigger at point blank, and killed one of the men. He scowled at the other two who looked at him in shock. As the corpse rolled over to the side, Adelaide turned Sean to face her.

"Why did you kill him?" She demanded, Sean's only response was-

"If they try to hurt us, then I hurt them."

Crown Prince Sean would grow up to be a fine young man. Powerful and charismatic, he took command of the Arkan Guard, and trained alongside his comrades in arms. But Sean, who was looking more and more like Vandal everyday, was not his mother's son. Sean was a authoritarian, and argued with his mother constantly about politics. Even in the Royal courts, rumours began to circulate. Although his mother had the People on her side, Sean had the nobles and military.

Sean had two sisters and a brother. His sisters, Allana and Caesaei, were always trying to keep the peace, but as they began to tire from the bicker, they simply left the conflict. But his brother, Domgriend, shared all of his mother's ideals, and therefore, was disliked by Sean. Adelaide did not like the conflicts, ever since the assassination attempt when Sean killed one of the assassins he was different. And now, she feared that her son would be the one to oust her from power.

One day, however, the Crown Prince met with Lord Marshal of the Grand House of Huber. After formal greetings and a brief discussion of politics, Sean got to his point.

"I would like to propose," He began, toying with one of his rings. "A marriage between your older sister and myself.I have seen your beautiful sister and wish to marry her. Not only will it bring a powerful alliance between our houses, but It may rekindle an onld friendship between our peoples. One that had graced Vandal and Lucius."

"My Lord, the Emperor will see you now," said Helenmeir.

Lord Marshal stood up from his chair and motion towards the direction the aid was pointing. Marshal had become quite familiar with the layout of the Palace. Many meetings had been arranged between the two high Aristocrats. Many were even talking of the strong friendship that was developing. Whereas the direction of the Reichkaiser house was in odds with Lord Marshal's opinion, the young Emperor followed many of the cherished Imperial beliefs that Marshal was looking for. Some members in the court were begining to believe that Marshal was becoming too close to the Emperor, and the talk of a full out alliance between the two most powerful Houses in the Empire was startling to many. However these thoughts carried little weight in Marshal's mind. His agenda fit with the Emperor's, and the two saw how the full might of the Empire could be harnessed to control the vast wealth the continent had to offer. No longer was the Empire a striving collection of regions. The burgeoning galioth that was the full nation of the Imperial crown looked upon the world, with it's large massive continents. Each with resources to bring greater wealth and prosperity to the Empire. And who better than to act as the provider of these resources than the great Houses with their global influence.

Marshal made his way into the Emperor's greeting chambers. Sitting atop the throne of Joao, First Emperor of the Nation, dawned in the golden and purple robe of the Majestic Lord, was Sean, Emperor of the Imperial Empire. The Emperor motioned for Marshal to rise, and the two made formal embrases showing their status of equals of sight and mind.

"Thank you for comming Lord Marshal. I hope that you have been able to come to a decision in the matter I wrote you about," said Sean.

Marshal looked into the Emperor's eyes, and a smile rose across his face. "You know I was at first perplexed by your letter. This matter of my sister and the Lord of the Fuataga's has held so much of my time lately that my dear sister Helena came not into my mind. However, I have come to a decision, and I felt that a grand wedding would befit our two great houses. We are brothers you and I, and this would bring the bond of blood between our peoples. This is what our great ancestors would have wanted, and it is what I would want."

Sean's excitment could barely be contained. 'A grand wedding indeed,' he thought to himself.

"I would like to ask though that we begin the deliberations for the provisions of the marriage. Enclosed in this is the provisions the House of Huber would like to be granted in exchange for the bond of my sister," said Marshal.

The Emperor opened the letter:

Provisions for the Union of the House of Reichkaiser, and the Grand House of Huber:
1. The Emperor grant the lands of Huber, Dankis, and Draknith as permenant sovergn lands of the House of Huber.
2. The lands be officialy recognized as Huberia, a solmn vassal state to the great Imperial Empire.
3. All noble births of the line of Huber be granted the title Lord of Huberia.
4. All munitions foundries and factories are to be granted to the House of Huber.
5. The House of Huber be granted with Imperial Directive the ability to raise, train, and maintain a standing army to defend our great lands.

In response the House of Huber grants to the House of Reichkaiser:
1. The hand of Helena Huber.
2 Succesion rights to the throne of the House of Huber should the Huber line cease.
3. Succesion rights to the throne of the Empire, should a worthy candidate be required to fullfil the throne at the passing of a Huberian Emperor.
4. Oath of mutual defense against all enemies of the House of Reichkaiser.
5. A 25% stake of profits from the Octavian Fishing Cooperative.

The Emperor gazed over the letter. He would take the night to ponder the information within it.

"Well my friend shall we continue our discussion on the plans before us concerning the Egyptians," said Sean.

Marshal nodded in agreement, and the two began to head into another room to discuss matters of state.

OOC: Great story line, but I think you went way too far. I had no wish to break up the love between Marrisa and Eliko. (I had thought Marshal had another sister) And I think that you may be showing far to much power, killing the entire Arkan Guard is immpossible for a few men to do, and seeing as the Arkan Guard numbers several hundered. Finally, the Emperor Sean is a trained millitary man, and as strong willed as Vandal. He would rather die than forefiet any of his powers.

I had this same issue in Dgame III by trying to control the story. And once again, it was a very good read, but even the Reichkaiser's have their limits.

Sounds good Vandal. I rework the story, and set up a proposal between Sean and another one of Marshal's sister's. I thought you were going for one of your huge divide and conquer plans with the proposal to Marissa. Guess I'm getting good at reading between the lines with your characters... ha-ha. For now the post will come out, and I'll replace it this evening with a grand story of a alliance building.

Btw, Reichkaiser's may have limits, but Huberians don't.... ha-ha!!!

Sean blew on the wax impression that his ring had left on the letter, showing his acceptance. He handed it to a messenger, who quickly sped away. The Emperor then rose, cracking his neck in the process. It was now dark, with a single candle ligting the room. But as he rose to leave, he noticed something out of the corner of his eye, a letter was passed through the door. He walked over and opened it.

My Dear Emperor-
I would like to inform you that the House of Rozsudek has finished its training of the Guardians. They shall soon arrive at the palace, for your disposal. We would also like to thank you for the means of training them. Finally, we await your orders.
- The House of Rozsudek

Empreor Sean, folded the letter and placed it on the desk. A few moments later, he walked outside of the palace, to see three men, darned in armor, bowing before him. They rose and escorted him to a horse, followed by three others. After mounting, the four sped off in the direction of the Egyptian border. Sean himself, would lead his men.

The fireworks were being ignited as the rider came up through the gates of the Huberian Palace. The night was warm, and good titding were felt by all. The annual Moreshian Ball was occuring and the famous couple was the talk of the night. Marissa and Eliko had formalized their engagement, and noone was happier than Marissa. She had fallen so deeply in love with Eliko that she would give all she had to be with him forever. As the happy couple danced in the grand hall, Lord Marshal was taking a respite on one of the many balconies at the Palace.

Lord Marshal had finished his cigar, and began making his way back to the party. Near the top of the staircase leading back down to the grand ball room, Marshal met up with one of his aids.

"My Lord, a messanger from the Palace has arrived with a letter for you," said the aid.

Marshal was excited, the news could not have come at a better time. If everything was as the Lord hoped, he would have a new marriage engagement to announce, and also the formation of the Huberian State. Marshal told the aid to have the messanger wait in the lobby to the Lord's office. He wanted to keep things seperated from the party, so as not to alert suspiscion.

"Good evening to you Lord," said the messanger as Lord Marshal made his way into the lobby.

Marshal nodded at the gentleman, and motioned his arm in a way to show the messanger where he would be meeting with the Lord.

As Marshal took a seat behind the large oak desk, the messanger pulled the letter from his pocket and handed it over to the Lord. Marshal authenticated the letter by looking at the Imperial Seal on the back. Soon, he agreed that this was a true mark of the Emperor, and began opening the letter.

Lord Marshal-
The high office of the Imperial State, with the permission of the Emperor himself have agreed to the conditions presented for the bonding of Helena of Huber and Sean, Emperor of the land, in holy matrimony. May this successful union bring about greater peace and stability between your two houses, and the Empire itself.

The High Imperial Office also will need the documentation regarding the creation of the Huberian State. Official articles creating the vassal union between the Empire and the Huberian State will be announced upon receipt of the required documentation.

-Emperor Sean

Marshal was besided himself. He had successfully petitioned for the Huberian State to be created. A joyous moment it was for all. There was much work to be done, but for the meantime Marshal thanked the messanger, paid him a tip, and sent him on his way. After the messanger had left the office, Marshal made his was back to the party.
