View Full Version : Majesty 2 demo Loppan Torkel Sep 12, 2009, 05:18 PM Apparently it's out now, leaked, but out (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=430814). Enjoy, those of you who can. Matrix Sep 13, 2009, 07:21 PM How can a demo leak out? Isn't a demo supposed to be public to all? Maniacal Sep 13, 2009, 11:39 PM A leak is something being released when it is not supposed to. It was leaked before it was supposed to be released. Loppan Torkel Sep 14, 2009, 12:03 AM Yes, it was supposed to be released the 15th and it doesn't seem like this was intentional. There are some links at Bluesnews (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=102166) with a bit more info. So, has anyone tried it yet? It doesn't run on my mac.. :-/ Ulyaoth Sep 18, 2009, 10:35 PM I tried it. Interesting, but the demo doesn't show much of the game. Companies really need to learn to make demos that actually entice people to want to play their games, and not just be able to check the interface and if it runs. I'm unable to try it myself, but reading the Paradox forums it certainly seems like the demo shows a lot from the game. Official demolinks. (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=431686) Ulyaoth Sep 19, 2009, 12:53 AM Well if that's all there is to the game then no sale for me until it's 5$ on steam. Loppan Torkel Sep 19, 2009, 01:06 AM I'm not trying to sell you the game, I'm just curious how you can think that demo just showed you the interface and that it runs. It's a hard 75 minute mission, that's not bad for a demo. Whether you like it or not is another matter. Ulyaoth Sep 19, 2009, 01:07 AM I'm just saying there's not much to do in it really. Not that I saw anyway. Though I didn't play the whole thing, stopped after like 20 something minutes for the second thing. Loppan Torkel Sep 19, 2009, 01:16 AM Ok, I can't argue with that, not yet having played it myself. People have said it's too hard for a demo, especially for new people to the franchise. Maniacal Sep 19, 2009, 01:45 AM What kind of game IS Majesty anyways? Ulyaoth Sep 19, 2009, 01:51 AM Kinda like an RPG RTS it seems like. You build buildings, but the main point is to hire hero units from the guild buildings who then have all kinds of stats and you then give them flags to go out and do stuff like kill monsters. Loppan Torkel Sep 19, 2009, 06:19 AM It's supposed to be a "Fantasy Kingdom Sim", where you build your kingdom, hire heroes and bribe them to do your will. The first Majesty was a very good game, it had its flaws, but the concept was great with incentive instead of direct control. Because you had so little direct control over the events, it became a bit more laidback and you could follow your heroes as they explored the map, killed monsters, leveled up and died. Dungeon Keeper was different but there were similarities to them and I'd rate them as equally good games. This Majesty 2 seems to be quite good too, though I'm not sure how replayable the game is and there seems to be room for improvement. The reviews have been good so far except a few and since the demo is free, it might be worth giving it a try. Maniacal Sep 19, 2009, 12:08 PM So how different is it from the Heroes of Might and Magic series? Loppan Torkel Sep 19, 2009, 01:10 PM Very different, they're both strategygames in a fantasy setting, but Majesty is in real time and you don't control individual heroes. It's not as large scale either. Here's some gameplay snippets - d8WFIKvVYgs |
