View Full Version : A question about Victoria: Revolutions Bast Sep 14, 2009, 02:51 AM If you play as Great Britain, do you actually lead the nation as Queen Victoria? Metromonkey Sep 14, 2009, 04:29 AM Not really. In the game the only people given names are the generals whose names are pulled from a pool depending on the time period. There are occasionally events that mention leaders such as events involving Bismarck and the Spanish succession crisis but they are just small pieces of text. If you're interested in playing as historical figures you might enjoy Europa Universalis: Rome or Crusader Kings more. ArneHD Sep 14, 2009, 06:06 AM If you stay as a Constitutional Monarchy until near the end of the game, I think you will get at least two or three events that mention Victoria by name. So really Queen Victoria has no place in the game? Then why would I want it? Captain2 Sep 14, 2009, 07:54 AM She has a place but not an in game representation Your decisions are the decisions of the Queen, so why would you need a briefing on yourself? Oh I didn't think of it that way. So I will lead United Kingdom as Queen Victoria. Will she die in 1901 or is it different? taillesskangaru Sep 19, 2009, 07:06 AM Game goes until 1935 with Revolutions. If it makes you feel better you can pretend she dies in 1935. aronnax Sep 19, 2009, 10:03 AM I should market a series of games base on Queen Victoria and basically any woman ruler of any European country. It will include Queenly dress picking, Queenly Tea drinking, Queenly smiling and Queenly love. Than I title it with the promotion caption "One woman stands out against convention" Then I shall sell it to Bast. Save it b!tch I'll save my game playing time for games that give Monarchs acknowledgement of the powers that they actually held. I.e. I will play only Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis. Game goes until 1935 with Revolutions. If it makes you feel better you can pretend she dies in 1935. I will not be getting it. I will only get it if they acknowledge the Monarch and the dynasties that are in existence. taillesskangaru Sep 22, 2009, 08:03 AM Save it b!tch I'll save my game playing time for games that give Monarchs acknowledgement of the powers that they actually held. So a game that simulates the power of the actual Victoria would be rather boring. I will not be getting it. I will only get it if they acknowledge the Monarch and the dynasties that are in existence. It does... Actually, if you get the game and play as the UK, you'll have more power than the real Victoria ever had. aronnax Sep 23, 2009, 07:56 AM Save it b!tch I'll save my game playing time for games that give Monarchs acknowledgement of the powers that they actually held. Its not really the game. It's just the monarchy. What excellent criteria. Captain2 Sep 23, 2009, 08:10 AM someone needs to visit imagination land and not only accept whats shown to them in a spreadsheet RedRalph Sep 23, 2009, 08:41 AM So really Queen Victoria has no place in the game? Then why would I want it? Well, you can pretend that you are her yourself. the player is essentially the head of state and government, so if you like, you can pretend to be Queen Bast Victoria If you play as Great Britain, do you actually lead the nation as Queen Victoria? Its a strategy game, not an RPG. Oh I didn't think of it that way. So I will lead United Kingdom as Queen Victoria. Will she die in 1901 or is it different? Well, you will if you imagine it that way, you dont select her or anyhting. I think there is an event where she dies, but that wont mean your game is over. Well given that they are now owrking on a sequel I think its unlikely they will remake the premise of the game. Its a shame Bast, Vicky is the best game I've ever played, you should give it a go, and not be so narrow-minded. But I'm not going to get Victoria I. I do like the economic aspect of the game. As it is, I have my hands and time full right now with CK and EU games anyway. |
