Aspyr announced today Civ4: Colonization for our beloved Mac platform.

Well spotted :goodjob: Good to see Aspyr haven't given up on us yet.

But can I really justify buying it? I already have it for Windows; the Mac support issues here will all be the same as, or similar to, those for the other Mac Civ4 titles; and we don't do anything with Colonization in the GOTM corner.

I'd rather see an SDK announcement ...

I played it on Windows and kind of lost interest. It's pretty, no doubt, but it didn't have the inherent replay factor that Civ and BTS does. Maybe it's just me.

I'm glad to see more for the Mac as I hate rebooting. An SDK would send me over the moon.

Ditto. I also didn't find Colonization as appealing, which is mainly why I handed off my Wild West mod. (I also don't have the time nor talent to do as good of job as TC01 has thus far.)

I had the original Colonization back on my Amiga and played it so much, much more than Civilization. Mind you this was most likely because the Amiga never got Civ2 or higher. I'm really looking forward to playing it again :)

I always liked Colonization's system of raw resources (cotton, tobacco, sugar, etc) vs refined resources (cloth, cigars, rum, etc). The specialist system was fantastic too. Always wondered how something similar to these might work in Civ proper.

I'm not a mac user (i just kind of stumbled into this forum), but Civ4Col isn't really that great. Replay value is quite low. At least it has art we can steal pillage borrow.
