View Full Version : Unit Preview: Russian T-72 Vdog Oct 07, 2002, 04:48 PM Here is an early preview of my T-72 Russian Battle Tank. I still have to add some more details to the body and colors/textures ect. and the wheels in the tread. Plz coment! :D !UPDATED! OmniMower Oct 07, 2002, 04:49 PM Damn...another tank...LOVE IT! :goodjob: Is it going to have Reactive Armor? Vdog Oct 07, 2002, 04:52 PM Originally posted by OmniMower is it going to have Reactive Armor? i dont follow, im very slow :crazyeye: OmniMower Oct 07, 2002, 04:59 PM I think the T72 along with T80 had additional armor plating, called Reactive Armor.... ... you get what I mean? [c0w]GoesMoo Oct 07, 2002, 05:08 PM Reactive armor are two plates with explosive in the middle, to provide better protection against shaped-charge explosives. They appear as little boxes on the vital surface areas of a tank, such as the turret. OmniMower Oct 07, 2002, 05:13 PM Very right Moo! :D If you look at my M60 thread you see those plates.... I think they look awesome.... :D OmniMower Oct 07, 2002, 05:14 PM But your tank look like it has Reactive Plates on the turret.....:hmm: Vdog Oct 07, 2002, 05:30 PM o hahaha ya i must have left those out on the body i thought it looked kinda clutered so i didnt ad them, now that i know what they are I will be sure to add them :crazyeye: Kingpin Oct 08, 2002, 08:56 AM Vdog, So far so good. I've been waiting for a T-72. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Smoking Mirror had one of these planned but it looks like you might complete it first. Now I can play the Russian's without feeling strange about having my main battletank an M1 Abrams. :D Most excellent. Vdog Oct 08, 2002, 03:46 PM i was going to ask should this unit replace the modern armor or should it be more of a intermidiate tank? i know theres a T-90 now so i was wondering. Boulboulgadol Oct 08, 2002, 05:49 PM Good shot with Rhino ! I see you finally used it. Good choice ! Vdog Oct 08, 2002, 08:28 PM Yes I did, i cant seem to render things though, it just goes fuzy and stuff but i am trying to fix that or get a different renderer. Kingpin Oct 09, 2002, 08:31 AM Someone did a T-90? Where can it be found? Vdog Oct 09, 2002, 03:32 PM For those who care here is an update of the T72! I added the wheel things and some shadows and now will ade textures. :D PS: Dont mind the lines they wont be in the finished product. Vdog Oct 09, 2002, 04:04 PM Do you think this looks more like a T90 than a T72 cause i do/ Eliminator Oct 10, 2002, 01:01 PM Originally posted by Vdog Do you think this looks more like a T90 than a T72 cause i do/ Uhhmm dont know...what i do know is that this (see below) is a T90......and I like it alot! :D And yes we can use it as a modern armor. http://home.wxs.nl/~meerb046/t90_1.jpg http://home.wxs.nl/~meerb046/t90_2.jpg Eliminator Oct 10, 2002, 01:10 PM and this is your T72 http://home.wxs.nl/~meerb046/t-72_2.JPG http://home.wxs.nl/~meerb046/t-72.jpg holmstr Oct 11, 2002, 02:01 AM Your tank looks more of a T-90 than a T-72 (not that I'm complaining).the 90 has more sharp angles as do your tank. Hopefully you will get this tank done,it will be a very nice addition to the original Civ-Armour and the Leopard and the Merkava. This way I get an americantank a europeantank and a asiantank and one for africa (OK everyone in asia don't use russian tanks or everyone in america don't use US tanks but I get a differens in the game so that you'll see from were they are coming from. It's just cosmetics :D ) recon1591 Oct 12, 2002, 11:03 PM Your tank does look more to the t-90 side because of the turret. call this one the t-90. then redo the turret with rounder sides and remane it t-72 and we'll have two great tanks for russia. CurtSibling Oct 13, 2002, 09:03 AM Originally posted by Trip Correction: Great looking tanks for Russia. ;) Correction: The T-90 and T-72 are deadly MBTs. If you think you could take one on...go get a bazooka and find out. :D PyroManiac Oct 14, 2002, 03:14 PM ZA RASSIU! Jon Shafer Oct 14, 2002, 04:34 PM Originally posted by CurtSibling Correction: The T-90 and T-72 are deadly MBTs. If you think you could take one on...go get a bazooka and find out. :D Hey now, I'm going to be in a US Armored Division, no bazookas for me. ;) Nemesis Rex Oct 15, 2002, 01:57 PM Looks like if you killed the ablative armor on the turret and reposition the smoke launchers your model would be an excellent T-72. As is it looks more like a T-90. Given the similarities between them, why not make a version for both? Nemesis Rex Oct 15, 2002, 02:15 PM ACK! Did I say ablative, meant reactive armor. Now I must do penance to the War Gods. |
