Proposal:
I would like to propose that we use the following strategy:

As we build our archers we use them to further explore the edges of our territory, but ensure that they do not stray too far from Aztec territory
Once our Archer/Spearmen force has been completed we send them to launch an assault on the Aztecs - preferably taking their capital but making sure not to wipe them out.
After taking the Aztec capital, or a significant proportion of their other cities, give peace for as much as we can squeeze out of them.

Just to ensure there is no controversy over this poll's adherence to the Polling Standards, here's a link to the poll proposal (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=491132#post491132).

Some of the stages of this plan have already been put into action, and so can be disregarded. However the main thrust of this proposal remains as relevant as when the proposal was first posted. I urge all Fanatikans to approve this action against our horse rustling rivals, so that we may expand without their hindrance and be safe in the knowledge that they no longer pose a threat.

I don't know how to vote in this one since it calls for an archer/spearman force. I know that was the original plan but the spearman ended up on garrison duty and a replacement was never recruited. I say we concentrate the archers now, seek out the Capital and attack. We can start sending our swords to Tlaxcala now.

Donsig, just consider that to one of the aspects of the plan that have been completed/superceded. What started out as an archer/spearman force has become in essence an archer/swordsman force. The main aim of this poll is to ascertain whether we have a mandate for an attack or not but, due to some cack poll scheduling on my part, this is the only one that I can post in quickly enough to allow the departments time to decide on the details of the proposed attack :o

definitely not! the aztecs are the only people in the known world who are at least polite to us. we should not be so quick to alienate our only potential ally. besides, eklektikos has failed to prove they possess weapons of mass destruction or, in fact, pose any sort of threat whatsoever. i must withhold my support from this proposal, and i encourage all other citizens to do likewise.

They are only polite to us because they are expanding into our lands and smiling all the while.

They are evil, and must be removed as a rival.

I approve of this "early war". We need lebensraum, and the Aztecs are expanding into lands we have already proclaimed as ours! We are not aiming to destroy these people, but to remove the threat they pose to our plans and ideals. We must wage this war in order to secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our children. Once this threat is removed, we can build our defenses, and turn more of our attention to the building of cultural landmarks, such that future wars of aggression may be not needed, as we take control of our world by the might of our culture.

Looks Like it will be my first war to lead :). I have got my battle maps ready and Barvaria churning out warriors and upgrading them in Morgana like there is no tomorow. ;). With the war comming upon us, I am going to make several orders for Swordsmen, Archers, and Warriors (To upgrade to Swordsmen.)

If I could vote, I would say yes. But since I can't, I'll just say that this has my full support. The Aztec barbarians must be punished for expanding into our rightful lands, if we do not we will have nowhere to go and will be unable to build our empire. I say we rain gesamtkrieg upon them. Whether they realize it or not, the people of Azteca will thank us later for liberating them from that tyrant Montezuma and making them part of the Greatest Nation.

I say attack, this is my plan, i will say that the first city we need to take is teotihuacan and then tlaxcala, as it is in tjhe richest soil in azteca, we shall then attack tenochtitlann and if we have enough forces spare, we could use them to expand south of axteca, i think we sholud wipe them out, they are potential enemys, and if we lert them live, who knows, they should become powerful or else, they will become to weak to be allies and just use terrains that could be our own.

Oy..... just placed the first working since last year. Anyway, my system couldn't handle it before. Always gave me "system timed out" messages and the like. Used to have to get the mods to edit the poll to include me. After a while I just got tired of bothering people and just stopped voting. But now it works, so democracy is safe.

The FA has posted it's view on this, -as long as we are assured a quick and decisive attack on aztec lands we should do it- since that does seem to be the case....
