View Full Version : Tried Chiyu's Extra 3.19b and i have seen !
Lachlan Sep 30, 2009, 07:05 AM I have seen the problem ;)
I have seen four-five xml errors notifications pop-ups on my 1.6.1 Mac OS X while loading the mod :)
Since it was no dll, should be easy to correct this, the only problem is xml...
Anybody volunteer for translation pc-mac ?
Do you want a link to this Chiyu's Extra Mod ?
Flintlock1415 Sep 30, 2009, 08:45 AM A link would be nice. I might try fixing it... :)

Bot how do you make, when c or d or e or more will be released ?
Because still encounters problems, if not possible to convert it why not a pure similar mac BTS Mod ?
Good luck for you :goodjob:

Forgive me if I haven't understood you correctly. Creating and maintaining a mod is a ton of work and as BTS is very new to us Mac users and thus most of us have very little modding experience (yet). I'm still learning the nuances of it all, I'm getting the hang of the XML but Python is still mostly beyond me. Also, there really isn't such thing as a 'pure' Mac mod anyway, our mods are identical to PC mods except for some XML formatting, a few python inconsistencies and the inability to use .dll.
Having said that, I will be slowly building my own mod, though it will just primarily be existing mods converted and mashed together with a few tweaks. I'm a stickler for historical accuracy so at the very least I'll be overhauling the city lists! At the moment I'm waiting for BUG 4.1 to be released so I can work around that and Varietas Delectat (which I've successfully converted). I'll be more than happy to share anything I convert/create with everyone here but I really don't the time to maintain a dedicated mod as such. Had BTS come out in a timely fashion I would have been modding til blue in the face but I'm a father now and my priorities are elsewhere :)
Finally, I recommend having a go at fixing any xml files yourself. Download the free Text Wrangler and use its 'Zap Gremlins' option. Doing just this fixes almost every xml file I've tried, though it does strip all accented and similar characters. Most can fairly easily be restored using ascii codes and find/replace. Given I run the game in English this mostly isn't an issue for me though.

Well, I've been modding Warlords for over a year now, and AlanH has been doing since Civ 3 (maybe before). :D That said, you are right in that there are very few of us.

I can't wait to see what you come up with! I'll be glad to help if you have any questions. ;) I'd like to make a sort of expansion mod myself, but I really don't have the time to take up every project that pops in my head.

I second this. Lachlan, I dled the mod (it's HUGE! >600 MB!). I thought there wouldn't be many errors in the text, but I was waaay wrong. The fixes are easy, just very tedious. Most of the problems are in the other language texts, and I don't have the time/knowledge to replace every character. I have a dl link in the Mac Modding Index under programs. If you have any other problems past this, I will try to be of more help.
Anyway, it seems you are very interested in playing mods, and I think you'd like trying creating some things yourself! :)
Lachlan Oct 01, 2009, 02:45 AM Ok, my first step will be reunite BUG, VD and Blue Marble into same Mod...
After i will tweak different parameters...
I will download text Wrangler by the moment...
