While this is only a minor detail of the game development, I felt like compiling a list of the great people that are coherent with the time and space of the mod. That is, of course, assuming GP are going to stay the same as they are in RFC.

Of course, there are a LOT of Greeks and few or no representatives of some cultures, but I suppose it can't really be helped. And after all, this is R&F of the Greek World.

I think your Great Prophet list is weighted way too heavily for Christianity which will be a very late game religion in Greek World.

What do you think about using some of the Greco-Roman deities as "Prophets"; a bit unconventional perhaps but if you think about it kind of going along with the theme of classical religions as many of them were thought of as being much more "human-like" than the monotheist religions today regard their deity.

Perhaps they can be used until a certain date (say around 0AD?) after which the more conventional Judeo-Christian names emerge?

Just a thought as I hope I'm not the only one who'd be a little annoyed to see a bunch of St. Pauls running around Carthage and Greece in 500 BC...

I added Megabazus and Adherbal, but not Dardasi (couldn't find anything about this name) and Mago is already on the list. Arminius is good for a spy. The Persian engineer is too late (post-Islam), and the two historians are already somewhere else, plus historians aren't very important.

I'm not too hot on using deities as prophets, it doesn't make sense in a historical mod.

Also added: Geiseric and Odoacer (as generals) and Jughurta (as spy?).

We need more merchants, engineers and spies.

Crassus would be a Great Merchant.

It's kind of hard, in some cases, to draw the line between a "Great" person and a normal engineer/priest/merchant/etc. from Antiquity... Should I do the XML now or wait until I have more names?

I think any one who achieved an important breakthrough for his time that we remember him to this day is great, but I guess in game terms only those who did the most important breakthroughs should be "Great" people.

What do Great Historians do?

They appear in the introduction text when, every once in a while, there's a "most advanced" or "largest" or "most wealthy", etc. civilizations in the world list. They're not very important. They're probably the only category we have enough of right now...
