Hello, after a while i installed again Civ4 and expansions but i'm confused about the installation of the editing tools. I lost many data and can't remember anymore how to get them correctly in place.
I tried to install nifskope to edit units but I see the branches messed and lot of info missing in the tree. Can someone please list me the tools and plugins to install in the correct order?

Really thanks :)

Nifscope is a stand alone tool, so you don't have to install anything else.

What do you miss exaclty? It's maybe the best to post a screenshot, so that the artists here can give you some advice.

edit: ok made a search, the plugin was to load nif in blender. memory is coming back a little

btw: i used to have the nif scripts 2.3.13 for blender, do the newest version 2.4.9 works too for civ4?

For Blender and its plugins, see Ekmeks leaderhead tutorial. I would do it exactly the way it's suggested there. There should be even links, so you don't need to search anything.

About your problem that something is missing: it's not, it's just 'hidden'. The Problem is, that the column for the trees nodes (called 'name') in the tree view is to slim and thus the second column simply covers the infos that you are missing. You can adjust the columns width by clicking on and then draging the edge between 'name' and 'value' rightwards...

ouh, this is bizzare. Never had this concern in the past istallations. now all is visible properly. thanks!

i followed some guides about Blender. At the end i followed this procedure pattern:
Blender 2.48a
python 2.52
nif lib 0.72
phFFI 2.5.11
blender scripts 2.3.13

i tried newer version likle blender 2.49b, python 2.63, Blender scripts 2.4.9 but i had lack in the Blender configuration about python and pyFFI. it seems that for every version there is its proper plugins

I'll try to follow the guides about the Blender configuration

ok I think I've sorted out all things to work again.
Just last thing, I see there are patches for BTS version 3.17 and 3.19. How they work? I mean, I'm mounting a mod and wondering if they involve the XML. I've seen new some civs comes with the specified version.
thanks!

Welcome back :)

I still remember, two years ago, my first moves into Civ4 modding, playing with your ancient LHs.

Imo, whatever you want to produce in the next, it must run under BTS 3.19
