FOX doesn't deserve them back, but yes they are now going to be airing on Comedy Central. But that just means they will be able to get away with a little more, hopefully this won't lead to a decline in quality.

Here is some more information on season 6 (spoilered for your protection)

*The 1st pisode (6acv01) of Season 6 picks up right where (Into the Wild Green Yonder) movie left off

*Sadly for many people, the series will feature a "literal" rebirth of the characters
The original concept of the 1st episode was to take place in new universe where they were taken as prisoners, but Matt Groening said that it should be a rebirth instead (please don't boo Matt)

*The 2nd episode (6acv02) will feature Zapp and Leela in a Eden-like planet (we knew that, but not the Eden-like part)

*In the 4th episode (6acv04), the Hyperchicken will make appereance (we all love the Hyperchicken haha!)

*The 2nd and 4th episode will be kinda more filthy than if they had been on FOX. "Comedy Central censors helped them push envelop of language" (that rises the question, what if they wanna put those 2 episodes on FOX later on)

*The Space Pope will appear in Season 6. It involves Bender grave robbing in vatican.

*There will be a "Anthology of Intrerest III" episode (the one with the "What if" machine)

*According to David X Cohen, we will learn more about Nibbler and his powers, like the "Partial Nibbler satisfaction"

*In an episode, we will see the future of the iPhone, that it will be implanted directly in your eye

I'm back, baby!

Just in from an undisclosed location (http://www.gotfuturama.com/), I received word that the new season will start on June 24, 2010... Just 106 days away!!

Excerpts from the top secret transcripts:

Of course we'll be building up to it more nearer the time but for now you can look forward to spending every Thursday for 12 weeks from that date tuned into Comedy Central.

Also, there are rumours that night might kick off with a DOUBLE BILL!

Also there is rumor that some of the guest hosts may be: Katee Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica, Chat Show host Craig Ferguson and the inventor of the environment... Al Gore!

Stay tuned for more shocking details... and remember to take a drink when you see the robot.

Welcome back, Meatbags....

It's your friendly neighborhood Futurama troll with the latest. Only 45 days until the premier! Many things to discuss:

*There is an interview with Billy West (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2363453,00.asp) discussing his career and fear of technology.

*You can go to comedy central (http://ccinsider.comedycentral.com/2010/05/04/submit-your-questions-for-the-cast-and-creators-of-futurama/) and submit your questions for the cast and creators of Futurama. They will pick some of the best ones. Look for the answers in a series of videos that will debut in the weeks leading up to the premiere of all-new episodes of Futurama in June.

*Also an intrepid, and imaginative, fan created a life size Bender robot!

Dammit, I kept looking at it thinking that something was wrong with it, but couldn't put my finger on it. And it's one of the two most important words in the story.

Just like a unwanted guest star.... I'm back!

New stuff on this D+ 30 days until the premier.

Information on the episodes have been "released" and spoilered for you protection:

61cv01 - Rebirth

"Fry and Leela's relationship has a very bizarre science-fiction twist to it."

"We don't want to get into a rut where they're having a baby and moving away to the suburbs. That would mess up the show to some degree. Without giving too much away, to have their relationship be on-again, off-again is a little more exciting for the ongoing drama of the series."

Interesting. We know that in the end of the last DVD Movie, Into the Wild Green Yonder, Fry and Leela kiss, but Futurama shippers wanted them to start dating. I've always supported the fact that the on-again, off-again plot between Leela and Fry is big part of the series success, so sorry shippers..

6acv02 - In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela

"an episode that was Matt Groening's brainchild, with Zap Brannigan and Leela getting stranded on a Garden of Eden planet."

"[..] he wanted to do that at the starting point of the episode, so we have Zap and Leela stranded on this beautiful Garden of Eden planet and they're naked and wearing fig leaves immediately. It's a little more cartoon flesh than we would have shown in the old days."

Neat. This episode was originated by Matt himself, and also, we get more nudity hahaha!

6acv03 - The Attack of the Killer App.

We're going to see our versions of Twitter and iPhones in the future, as Fry posts embarrassing videos of Leela online. The difference is, in our version of the iPhone, the iPhone is implanted in your eye. It's a tiny hovering screen in front of you and it's even more annoying than the real iPhone."

Hey! Bender posted naked Leela pictures on the Internet first, but Fry added videos, and I guess he did it by accident. I can see that David finds the iPhone annoying..

6avc04 - Proposition Infinity

Bender tries to pass a ballot initiative called Proposition Infinity to legalize robosexual marriage, which is the marriage between a robot and a human."

We know Bender wants to marry Amy in that episode according to previous spoilers from Twitter. I'm 99% sure this episode is the 4th one, since is one of the more "filthy" episodes.

6acv12 - The Mutants Are Revolting

In our 100th episode special, Mark Mothersbaugh and Devo campaign for mutant rights; Leela's parents are [..] mutant citizens [..] The members of Devo have mutated over the years, and Mark Mothersbaugh helps out in their campaign for equality."

Mark Mothersbaugh and Devo (band) are special guests in this episode. Is kinda fun to know A little more about this episode, that marks the 100th Futurama episode!

6acv__ - [Unknown Episode Name 1]

they spend the episode going further and further through all future history trying to find the technology for a backward time machine."

We knew about Fry and The Proffessor going only forward in time, but is interesting to know they will visit a more futuristic world than the year 3000 that we all know and love.

6acv__ - [Unknown Episode Name 2]

Nixon will be back. We have a whole head-related episode. It's discovered that you get a 'head trip' if you lick one of the heads in the jars. So Fry licks George Washington's head and it sends them off on a Revolutionary War adventure.

Interesting episode, somehow new since we will experiment a "drug" trip of Fry by licking a head-in-a-jar. Perhaps everything in the episode will be the trip, perhaps not.

Special Guests: Their Roles

* "Craig Ferguson has the most remarkable guest role of the year: He is playing a talking part of Leela's body. We discover that Leela has a little more to her being a mutant than we knew about."

* "Chris Elliott is playing a very persnickety space probe that goes around censoring things that it thinks are indecent, and he finds nudity both interesting and offensive."

* "George Takai will be back." (no more info available)

* "[..] Al Gore will be rejoining us in our environmental-themed holiday episode [airing next season]. He will help explain the future versions of Christmas, Robanukah, and Kwanza, along with Coolio, a natural pairing"

* "Patton Oswalt will appear in next season, playing a character called Unattractive Giant Monster."

* "Katee Sackhoff is playing a visitor to Comic-Con who has a fetish for aliens. She threw herself into the role in an impressive fashion."
"I would be remiss if I didn't mention the first appearance by David X. Cohen, in the Comic-Con episode. "
"The heads of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen will appear on a panel of writers for the new show that Matt Groening has created in the Year 3010."

Finally, One of the bizarre moments on this Futurama season is a love scene between Dr. Zoidberg and Professor Farnsworth... Of course, it is quite touching in context. And arousing! Gasp!

+ more leela-flesh. I seriously support this. And I really hope that the show try to do some permament changes. It will hopefully keep the show fresh.

A different writing team could be responsible, but I'm too lazy to compare/contrast the "old" seasons writers and the new ones.

I just noticed that they bleeped out Leela saying (actually, I'm not sure if it's against profanity rules for the forums here) [starts with 'c' ends with 'p']. Why would that be? They use that word all the time on CC...

I liked some of the more subtle/freeze-frame jokes as always - Urectum, the advertisements in dreams (for Brannigan) and best of all, pointed out by another to me actually, the "new" Hawaiian island Lo'ihi which apparently exists by the 3000s

kulade
Jun 24, 2010, 09:33 PM
Fry and Leela's "being together" would dull down the show quite a bit; they should be schismed as soon as possible and resume the traditional and pathetic "courtly love" yearning on Fry's part. The newest episodes were fairly boring and humorless, if you ask me, but I suppose the writers had to reset the playing board.

Kennigit
Jun 24, 2010, 09:56 PM
Meh. Okay.

You can't have your characters announce how you feel. That makes me feel angry (in response to Fry's verbal thinking).

Joecoolyo
Jun 24, 2010, 10:01 PM
Well IMO, I think they did pretty good for what they were dealt. I mean, it's pretty hard to transition from a movie with an ending that was supposed to end the series back to a regular 30 minute show.

Anyways, the episodes weren't great, but even mediocre Futurama is still rather entertaining. The best part of both episodes has probably got to be the first say 5 minutes of the first episode. That was the closest it got to being classic Futurama.

Out of the three new episodes so far, Rebirth was the only one worth watching again. I think the other two have taken the position of the two worst episodes of Futurama. Not exactly the best way to start off the new season.

mechaerik

I like the newest episode, but overall these first three were kind of "meh".

Joecoolyo
Jul 03, 2010, 12:44 PM
I actually liked the 3rd episode, far more than I liked the first 2 (which were both meh IMO).

I mean, besides for some awkward writing here and there, all the jokes were hilarious (the third world was great, and so was the information mosquito), and story was quick paced enough.

It felt like an average Futurama episode, not up with the best ones, but it wasn't absolutely terrible either.

Eran of Arcadia
Jul 03, 2010, 01:32 PM
I have to say I am disappointed (but not surprised) - all 3 of the new episodes have had their moments, but haven't been great overall. And I would blame it on the writers getting a feel for the show again, except that the first three episodes of the original series were not only among the best of the show, but some of the funniest episodes of any show ever.

Jul 03, 2010, 09:17 PM
I thought the last episode was very South Park-y. The complete focus on a thinly veiled piece of pop culture, the overt moralizing, the gratuitous, mean-spirited, unfunny attack on a harmless celebrity, the whole bit.

kulade
Jul 03, 2010, 09:30 PM
Yeah, overly "South Park-y" is precisely how I would describe the most recent episode. There has to be a point at which it can no longer be classified as "satire" when the plot dumbs itself down to practically telling the audience what its supposed to be making fun of. Moreover, satire has never been why Futurama has been an enjoyable show and it would be silly to change otherwise.

h4ppy
Jul 04, 2010, 01:19 PM
Killer App was pretty damn bad. A Susan Boyle reference in an episode entirely devoted to iPhone and twitter jokes and a ton of Fry/Leela melodrama? Ugh thats the type of thing Futurama should be avoiding. It honestly felt like a later season Simpsons episode. Thats not to say that there was nothing of worth in it, I found all three episodes to be at least a little bit funny, its just that it wasn't really good and its plot (characters create internet memes/youtube videos) has been done to death.

Kennigit
Jul 04, 2010, 07:44 PM
Futurama broke their own concept of sticking to the future pretty much--they did a south park esque episode on current day stuff.

I can't think of a prior Futurama episode that tried to parody anything so specific in the present day.

And I didn't even recognize the Susan Boyle reference. This concept of Susan Boyle confuses and infuriates me.

As someone who's never seen the old episodes (or any episodes) of Star Trek, I still appreciated Futurama's references to old shows (I didn't get a lot of them, but some were obvious).

I agree with the "South Park-y" assessment, in that it's the best adjective I've heard used to describe it so far.

I think what Futurama began as, what I think it was "supposed to be," was a cartoon lampooning and paying homage to science fiction... like the Simpsons started as a mock/lampoon of the nuclear family in America, it has turned into a social/political commentary.

EDIT: Poster does not officially know definition of "lampoon..."
Also, not sure if ellipsis goes inside or outside a quotation...

Lillefix
Jul 06, 2010, 10:40 AM
It does have unusually many references to present day stuff. Last time it was draconic censorship, this time it was twitter and so on, next time it will be *o*osexual marriages. I'm not dissapointed in any way, but then again I usually don't watch South park, Simpsons, or family guy, so many of the jokes may seem fresh to me.

Eran of Arcadia
