Why are there no Civ3 Arab/middle Eastern Musketmen? I mean why has no one noticed that there isn't one Arab musketman or renaissance gunpowder units?

If there is talented unit creator out there please heed my words: create some Arab musketmen/gunpowder units and please none of that Ottoman trash (they are not Arabs)...

Because Sandris didn't have time to make them yet...

He has made an extensive ancient/medieval line of Arab units.

And recently he made European gunpowder units. You can hope after that he will move to other regions of the world.

You can find a Bachibouzouk (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=48473&page=2).

In 1600-1700, the period used by most unit creator for gunpowder units, Ottoman controlled most of the "arab" area.

And if you want something done, you are more likely to see it if you can provide reference pictures.

Creators will not make units just to please you if they have no idea what they should do. So come with pictures showing what you want.

I`m sure that me or imperator1961, or anyone else will make them soon.

The Turkish Janissaries were all musket men from around 1550 or so on. They would also make more sense as the Turkish unique unit than the Spahi, as the Janissaries were definitely unique to the Ottomans.

Thanks a lot for this post but is it possible to get the civilpedia icons of this unit?

there's a few Arabs and Ottomans. You just have to look around, and they might not be very new.

I think many people consider Ottoman Turks to be Middle Eastern.
And they controlled most of the Arab world during the time of the Renaissance.

JG, Shiro explained my reason correctly.
Here's the map of Ottoman Empire growth -
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3f/Ottoman_small_animation.gif
- you see all "settleable" lands in Arabian subcontinent belongs to Ottomans.

arab is not turk.....

And turks are not arabs. But arabs that time didn't have their own independent state -> had no official trained military forces. So, what arabian musketman should be if there's no "Arabia" state presented? Just a dark skinned grumpy oldman (:P) in dressing gown with rifle? :) This leads to the "what-if" series. I'm not sure such a history expert (no sarcasm) like you 'll be satisfied with this.

the musket is an upgraded arquebus - so mamluk egipt was famous for it's early gunpowder units and artillery, what about irak - blacksheep and whitesheep tukmen and arab allies only 1533 conquered. what about yemen and oman?? what about the moors of morocco?? what about the deep land of the arabian pensinsula??

There are "Ottoman Trash" ( ) musket-wielding Janissaries in both of imperator1961's Ottomans Parts 1 & 2. With pedia icons. Also an Ottoman Tufekcj.

Looking through something by Steph, (http://stephane.f.david.free.fr/CivMod/Al_lLandGunpowderUnits.htm) I noticed only two Arabic musket wielding units. On the other hand, there are a wealth of Ottoman musketmen. Unit-makers, to the 3d Programs!

These guys are used for Egypt, Arabia, Mesopotamia, or North Africa:

Seems to be a Janissary of some sort.

http://stephane.f.david.free.fr/CivMod/UnitIcones/Ancient/BachibouzoukLarge.gif
This seems like the one guy who could work.
