I did some searching but I could not find a direct answer to this question. All I want to do is be able to modify a unit's hit points, like movement rate, defense, attack, etc. of the current units, not add a new unit. Is this at all possible, and if so, how?

Thanks!

You have to look a little closer itīs next to defense and attack(i think) it stands hit point. But maybe you dont have the latest patch.

I'm really not following what you are saying. What do you mean "it's next to defense and attack?" What is next to it? I do have the latest patch, version 1.29f.

Thank you in adavance!

It sounds like you haven't used the editer at all. If you have the latest patch (1.29f) you should have the editor. If it's not on your start menu look in C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III. Double click on Civ3Edit.exe and your into the editor.

If you open the civ3mod.bic file with the editor and save it then it will change the default rules for the game. This is NOT RECOMMENDED. Better to just start editing, it will start the default rules, then save it as a .bic in the Scenarios folder. Then when you want to play with your new rules just load that scenario. A scenario can have a map and new units or it can just be changes to unit stats or other rules.

To change unit stats; click on Scenario at the top and check Custom Rules. the Edit dropdown on the top right will now be available. Select Units and edit to your hearts content.

WARNING! Highly addictive behviour. I started out just to tweak some units and now have changed numerous stats, added 16 units, added/changed resources and improvements, and altered the tech tree.

You can add bonus hit points to units on the UNITS screen, its labeled HP Bonus, one inch left of dead center of units screen. If you want to change the hit points for all units there is a Comabt Experience screen that allows you to change the conscript/regular/vetera/elite hit points from 2/3/4/5 to whatever you want.

you can also add negative modifiers to the HP, though a units startig HP will never be less than 1.
