I would like to list the obivious things any good player does in order to secure a good position to win FFA games in online play 6-13 peoples on gamespy. Here is my way of increasing my chances and winning.
1. Make worker first. Keep a look for wondering warriors and if you need to switch to warrior if you see one approaching. First worker chops wood to make 2nd worker preferably, but if forest is limited start hooking up resourses. Worker first start- has been proven to be the most economicly effective way to start your game.
2. Create a core of 2-4 cities and scout the neighbors. If you see land at the premium- prepare for war. You will need too overwhelm the opponent.
3. Boom economicly after te war- making courthouses and markets to suppor tmroe cities.
4. WAtch teh gdp graph- if it below #2 spot- you ll need to invade someone. If you are #1 - keep booming.
5. By late middle ages GDP should be ur top concern - to increase it drasticly you need more land and cottage spam or take neighbor's. IF someone has an ever increasing runaway effect GDP - itsover.
