http://www.civfanatics.net/methos/hof/staff/gauntlet.gifWhile the general Hall of Fame is an ongoing competition, we like to run time-definite competitions between updates that we call Gauntlets. Standard Hall of Fame rules (*) still apply, but any games meeting the settings will be counted towards the Gauntlet.

(*) Please read the >> HOF rules << (http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/rules.php)BEFORE playing!

Suprised to see my effort is still best, it was just a quick game after dealing with the major space race. I guess the lack of discussion means that people dont have much to say about standard space games like this one anymore
I played an all peaceful game with 13 cities because I could block off a nice landmass early. Didnt see any point in war, so just cottaged up and so forth. Didnt plan corporations, as I didnt have much to fuel either the food corps or mining.
Ended up using alumco. for aluminium, and I at least learned that it was very cheap to run so the spreading of it actually improved my economy from the +4:gold: in the HQ, even though I didnt have Wall Street.

I think it's the quick game speed, we're too disgusted with how crap it is to play to want to talk about it. ;)

I tried three times but kept on making silly mistakes so stuck in second place still ... in the end my second effort beat my first by only a turn, and my third beat that by 8 turns. Really annoyed on the last one that I didn't pay enough attention and forgot to swap out liberalism on the last turn before I got it. Meant I had to take nationalism rather than something better from it when nobody even had paper yet. :(

I also got beaten to the pyramids by one turn that game. Saladin's unique building + mids + angkor lol-what is a great combo.

I have tryed one game for fun - small continent, only 1 neighbour there, and no Aluminium...
As result I can say the size of Continent is critical - too late war. I also was late with NPark (should capture city on other continent for that).
On quick speed Golden Age is more effective then on other speeds so I have used 5. I got too much GE instead of GS - it's fine in other games but not here...
I have chosen State Property instead of Corporations - I had a few resources for that.
As result 17xxAD - one of my slowest Space...

This one was alot of fun! Quick and easy. Although I am not in the 1700's, I still enjoyed it.

Like Shakes, I play this one more then once. On my second attempt I finished on the exact same turn the second time around. My score was only 65 points different.
