v1.29f, Regent Difficulty, Romans, 2019AD

When my turn starts, after I make any production changes at the beginning the game crashes. I get the "You Win!! You have achieved a Cultural Victory" box, right after that I get the following error:

Load Error

Error Reading File
Missing entry in "text\PediaIcons.txt" LOVED_RACE_ROMANS

I've checked the file and the listed entry is there. Loading a saved game is no help. Suggestions?

I finally found the problem. Somehow, the entry for the Romans under "Small loved Icons" was incorrect. The line had " (Cultural Victory Winner)" appended to the end of it. From looking at the rest of the file I was able to determine that this was supposed to be on the line above. This is probably a problem with either the basic game or the 1.29f patch since it was still there even after I did a complete reinstall. It would only crash when the Romans achieved a cultural victory. In order to fix it all you have to do is move the line fragment to the correct line and resave the file.

I had this exact same problem while playing the Romans, what file exactly did you alter the settings in?

Never mind....I was having a bad hair day....I found the offending line and fixed it as well.

Found the same problem in that file and moved it up. Still getting read error when playing the Romans. Anyone else come up with anything.

That bad hair day is going around it seems. I had saved the original file under a different name and was running under window 2000 compatibility on a xp machine. Thought I would try it again as it seem like such a right answer!. Removed the compat option and ONLY changed the pediaicons file (no saving of the original in that folder) and it seems to work just fine now. Who knew computers could be so much fun! :-)
