Why does everyone go for the fantasy basketball, there is nothing wrong with it, but i thought that hockey would be popular, and I would have gotten a few more resposes than the ones I have had. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST FANTASY BASKETBALL. This is just a curious thought that I just was thinking. No offense to anyone.

Because hockey sucks. ;)

Not trolling, just stating the obvious. :p

Actually, there are quite a few folks who check the forums, maybe they just don't want to follow such a lame sport. ;)

If hockey 'sucks', basketball must, in the words of Bart Simpson, both 'blow' and 'suck'.

What version of English do you speak over there, anyway??

Anyhoo, my point is basketball is £$%£$()^*£%^£%^)(£$^. i.e., I don't like it. ;) Could someone explain to me why it's so great?

agree with Pillager...Never seen rules so stupid than basketball...I never understood especially that rule : If a player with the ball goes into you and you move you get the penalty but if you're able to don't move he gets the penalty???

You gentlemen must not have the mental capacity to truly understand basketball. :p

Otherwise you would be singing it's praises as a superior game. :D

Hockey is merely figure skating with sticks and a piece of frozen rubber. :)

Plus, it's COLD when you watch it. At least football you can watch when it's warm sometimes! :D

Nothing wrong with American football. Basketball, on the other hand, is just a bunch of tall men running left and right and throwing a ball through a hoop. If I want to see a ball going through a hoop, I go to watch seals.

If I have the mental capacity to understand cricket, I don't think basketball wouls offer too much of a challenge, BTW. ;)

Point well taken... But basketball CAN be great, but the dunkfests and isolations are getting old.

I work on highly sophisticated weaponry, and I cannot understand cricket.

Must be because it sucks... ;)

One reason why basket ball is such a great sport(and I am not a fan of it BTW, I speak as a recreation professional here) is because of its accessibility to such a wide array of people. It is easy to play and can be done in a variety of places, farm kids play it, ghetto kids play it, rich kids, poor kids, boys, girls, suburbs, etc...
Like Soccer(futbol) it is accessible to a wide array of people, and can be adapted to be played practically anywhere. And there is practically no cost. Every kid knows some other kid with a ball, or there is one available at the local park or Boys and Girls Club.

It is probably why hockey is so popular in the north, becaues all kids play it (its winter for 9 months of the year)

I like hockey becaus it has speed, grace, power, and don't forget fighting! :goodjob:

I guess the LACK OF CLASS in NA Football and Basketball makes me not like or respect either very much. Admiring your own shot after taking it? Give me a break. Acting a damn fool after scoring a touchdown? Give me a break. One thing these so called "athletes" should do is act like they been there before. The day I see Joe Sakic or Steve Yzerman showboat like an NFLer is the day I stop watching hockey. But it won't happen. If some rookie did that, the coach would probably send him down. Or the rest of the teams would take care of it when they played his team. I dunno... Class. I can't imagine being an NBA star. If I was Jordan, people would hate me because I wouldn't showboat and be a general jacka$$. Oh well. Besides, with the NBA the way it is today, I'm surprised it has ANY fans left!

As for baseball, tis not a sport but a GAME.

I agree with you on the showboating Floppa,
While I still do like Football, I think they act like a bunch of ding a lings at times. Some of those dudes actually practice their victory dance in front of the mirror. what a bunch o posers. Play the game. That is another reason I love Joe Paterno in College football. He doesnt tollerate that sort of childisness. I also think that TV glorifies this goofyness, They do not have to keep the camera on the players after a play, and show the "dance" during replays. Show the fans, they pay a lot of money to act like an idiot.

I don't like or trust basketball, but it must be that the Village People have made me wary of anything that originates from the YMCA.

And FF, the reason you cannot understand cricket is that you are a Yank - it is in your blood.:p

I truly love hockey and i love to play basketball, its just that watching basketball on T.V. is way too slow because of the many fouls commited.

I would rather watch Slamball than basketball because they actually get paid to 'showoff'

??? Slamball is the dumbest thing on TV i have ever seen, the only thing good about Slamball is when something happens and no one knows what to call because the rules are so retarded, even worse than basketball. The names of the teams are idiotic too, overall Slamball is worse than any other sport or hobby even.

Because so many of us are Americans. This is our game. We invented it. Canada and Russia are first in hockey. They will pobably play with you.

Basketball is one's favorite sport, just fabulous. When you're hooked, you're hooked, and you remain hooked. :)

Hockey doesn't suck, it stinks. :D

Steve, you started promoting your hockey league late, you need to do it BEFORE the season starts.

Also, when I run these leagues, I have 4-6 people who I can count on to join a league before i start one.

A good way is to make friends with people, and talk using some kind of IM system, and before you know it, people will sign up. ;)
