This is my first attempt at modding a NES, so here goes something:

STATS:
Country Name:
Government:
Economy:
Technology:
Army:
Navy:
Unrest/Corruption:
Projects:
Description:

Country Name: The name of your country

Government: The form of government in your country. Changeable, sometimes against the players wishes via a revolt due to unrest/corruption.

Economy: As this is the first NES I am modding, I want this to be fairly simple. One number is the amount you gain each turn, and the second will be the amount stored. There will be a limit to the amount you can store.

Technology: This represents your country’s current technological advancement. Represented as:
Stone Age --- Early Bronze --- Late Bronze --- Early Iron --- Late Iron --- Classical Age ---…More added when we get there.

Army: Your army. Price Costs listed below.

Navy: Your navy. Price Costs below.

Unrest/Corruption: This stat increases as you do actions that would be contrary to your form of government. For example, a Democracy oppressing its citizens and limiting freedom. This can be reduced by expending economy, and acting under the right form of government. If the Unrest builds too high, your country will revolt and have a new government emplaced, decreasing economy, army, and navy.

Projects: These are large projects and wonders that will impart a boost. Design your own projects, but they must be approved, or assigned a proper turn cost. E.G. No super wonder boosting everything in 3 turns.

Description: Give a brief description of your country.

Unit Costs:

200 Militia – 1 Economy
100 Infantry – 1 Economy
50 Cavalry – 1 Economy

Upkeep:
1 Economy for every 1000 Militia
1 Economy for every 500 Infantry
1 Economy for every 250 Cavalry

Navy Costs:
2 Economy for 1 ship

Upkeep:
1 Economy for every 4 ships

Other Costs:
5 Economy for a small city

Description: The Terreyan people are one of the most anchient race in the world. Once, they roamed as nomads in the desert to the south, and the only thing that kept them united was they're belief in they're goddess, Terreya, of whom they got they're name from. Graduatly, the desert became more populous, and new ethnicities came. Very soon kingdoms were created, and the Terreyan people were persecuted for they're beliefs. They knew they could not continue to live in fear.

It was soon the time to leave. Various people who claimed to be prophets orginized groups of Terreyans to leave north, towards the land that was rumored to be lush and plentiful. It was then clear - the prophets were sent, each in his time, to bring the people of Terreya to the northern lands. And so, the people settled in the middle of the river delta, for a permenant and flourishing city, which they called "Tanael", which means "Her Grace" in Terreyan. Then the Kingdom of Terrey was born, and the bloodline of pious Terreyans ruled the monarchy of the united people from then on.

Religion is a major aspect in Terreyan life. Most of native Terreyans are of the Terreyan religion (which is named after the ethnicity), and many Terreyan religious immigrants come from neighboring kingdoms to live in the safety of Terrey.
Terranism is based on early Xenotheism, with the goddess Terreya, of whom the name of the religion comes, is the creator of the universe. There are also minor gods, which act as "Assistants" to Terreya.
The main belief in Terranism is the holiness of the wild. In Terreyan belief, Terreya created the universe, and has "coated" the blessed land with lushness. Tree's are considered the "sentries" of Terreya, her personal army, and were said to rise from the ground and reap the evil human population in the end of days. As such, Terreyans often plant more forests, to increse the "Sentries" of Terreya, and pray inside deep forests, to show they're respects to Terreya's holy grounds.

Terreyans utilize Terrey's lush, excellent quality coastal ground and excel in agriculture. Most of the countryside, not taken by villages, are coated with various agricultural farms. The main export of Terrey is, not surprisingly, wheat.

Nowadays, there are two kinds of major castes - Terreyan and Non-Terreyan (by religion, not be ethnicity). Non-Terreyans are given limited access to most of Tanael, even if they are citizens of it, and are not permitted into the Terreyan temples, and are also not permitted to talk to any of the clergy. Even with they're diminished status, they still enjoy full security and justice in law and court. They are also drafted to the army, like Terreyans.

Terreyans are the major group in the country. They enjoy full rights, and most of them are wealthy. They are devided into three groups:
Religious Caste - The most important of the castes in the state. They are monks and priests in various temples across the kingdom.
Warrior Caste - Although this is counted as a caste, anyone from any caste or group can join it. The warrior caste is basicly the army, and various fuedal knights. Even non-Terreyans can be enlisted to the army, but they cannot become knights.
Worker Caste - The poorest of Terreyans, they usualy live outside Tanael on the countryside, and live together with non-Terreyans in small villages, working in jobs such as fishing, agriculture, and rarely, also hunting.

Description: The Akhaazi are a superstitious people, guided by a reigning monarch (or monarchs; the king and queen hold equal power, if both are present and willing) that heeds the advice of a council of mystics and seers. These mystics will divine the future or the fate of certain deeds and individuals, sharing what they learn with the crown. It isn't a guarantee that the monarch will follow the guidance of the mystics, though the records show that they are often correct. There have been times, of course, in which the monarch followed their words and failed, or that he or she did not follow their warnings and succeeded.

Akhaazi life revolves, most often, around the sea. It is in the common religious belief that the Akhaazi people walked out of the sea one day, ages ago, to explore the land. After many years of exploration, they tried to return home, but had been changed by the land and drowned if they went back into the sea. So, the Akhaazi stayed on land, living mostly along the coasts (though many also live inland, especially if they do not particularly believe in the myths) in villages that specialize in both fishing and certain craft works. These crafts are purchased in trade by the merchants of Hakhaz, the great capital of the kingdom, who provide other goods obtained in trade from other villages. The end result yields high-quality goods from many coastal villages across the island for the people of Hakhaz. The main diet of an Akhaazi consists of fish, though farming is done inland and along the river Yazir, as well as some hunting and herding in the central regions of the island.

Military life for the city of Hakhaz is not quite as commonly found as the lifestyle of the merchant or craftsman, for there are currently very few threats to the city found elsewhere on the island. One village going up against the might of Hakhaz would be foolish, though the combined might of most of the Akhaazi villages would surely bring about the destruction of the kingdom. That is one of the many reasons the merchants travel to the villages; aside from economic progress, they are assuring that Hakhaz is in good favor among those villagers to keep them from being rallied by some sword-rattling village elsewhere on the island.

Overall, the stance of the Kingdom of Akhaaz is that of trade and diplomacy, with a heavy attachment to the sea and coasts. Fish, kelp and barley are staple foods for the Akhaazi, and worship is held every day at sunrise and sunset, where all the faithful bow in prayer toward the closest shore. Most temples are on the waterfront, as are the most desirable homes and businesses, and not to mention to the royal palace (which is actually a fairly small estate adorned with some of the finest architecture the Akhaazi have to offer). Most villages employ wood for construction, though the city of Hakhaz mostly uses stone quarried inland and shipped along the river.

Description:
The people of Kor Thasse live all across their small island; however, the capital city and the larger settlements are along the river. Rather than clear the land the people build their towns in, among, and sometimes under the trees of the rainforest. The more important structures are stone but many of the houses are constructed of wood and blend in with the foliage.

Each village is run by a council or an elder but the larger the population of the area the more power that government holds. The City Council in the capital of Kota is seldom contradicted and the smaller villages’ power is mainly a symbolic. In times of national crises the government elects a general to lead with ultimate power. This has not happened for several centuries.

The island is volcanic in makeup, meaning the small farming establishments that exist flourish but most of the food comes from fishing. The mineral wealth of the island is rather small and several of the previous councils have considered sending out exploration fleets to find land to settle and import the needed resources. The island does hold enough stone for the local use as well as hardwoods, various spices, and pearls.

The people of Kor Thasse have a tradition of valuing education and meritocracy. They are also curious about the world around them and many wish to see another fleet sent to the mainland. The City Council is wary of this claiming the mainlanders may feel threatened, when in fact it’s because the last fleet was destroyed by a storm (a little know fact among the common people).

Description: Editing in...

Ancient Lintitte consisted of several very similar ethnical groups, with the most profound subcultures the Tiwiki, the Djekke and the Dutti. Before Lintitte rose as a nation, the foresty region consisted of several chiefdoms who, while intervening in the affairs of one another, rarely induced conflict with each other. Originally, the only two cultures present in the region were the Tiwiki and the Djekke; although at this point the two were very similar. Both had primitive pagan pantheons that were very alike, and most of the values were the same. The regional economies consisted of small merchant houses, herding and hunting. However, as bronze working and writing was introduced by Lintitte settlers, migrating from the western expanses, the regional politics suddenly became much more advanced. The early development of writing helped in merchant affairs as well as the first known constructions of libraries (Although, back then, they served as brothels more often), eventually expanding trade eastwards, importing the wheel, and storing knowledge to remain present. The Lintitte quickly took the more powerful positions in the region, resulting in some tribal conflicts in which the Djekke were almost wiped out. Here, the thin line between the Djekke and the Tiwiki were also drawn; the remaining Djekke peoples were enslaved and traded eastwards into Zelalta's merchant network.

Eventually, the Lintitte positions grew increasingly political; the local chiefdoms were abolished and reformed into villages under Lintitte hands. A second migration then happened with the Dutti arriving; however, the Dutti were much more advanced than the Lintitte back when they arrived, and also way more aggressive. Lintitte as a nation was forged as the political heads organized their villagers to repel Dutti raiders, and eventually, the Dutti were subjugated into yet another slave class. The generals of Lintitte had enforced the nation into an entity with a more powerful authority in lead; the old pagan eventually developed into an appreciation of a Lintitte God-King (The original religion of the Lintitte remains unknown to this day), and an admiration of Him as the sole path between this world and the heavenly.

In these years, the Dutti have secured peasant positions, and most of them thrive as a subculture along the northern border of Lintitte; many of them adoring an animalist religion and their values less authoritative than the rest of the nation. The Djekke are as known only present as a slave people, and most of them are in circulation within Zelalta's trade network. The Tiwiki and Lintitte are much alike each other, the Tiwiki, however, having feasts during each full moon as part of their tradition, which the Lintitte upper class usually frowns upon. Most of them are picking up upon it. The Tiwiki are traditionally hunters and herders, however the Lintitte are currently reforming the local villages into farmland instead, inspired by the east. Currently, fish is the most prominent food within Lintitte.

The capital's name is Kekkon.

The God of the Waters lives under the Great Salty Lake to the Northeast, and his long tentacles flow from the mountains through the world. He is celebrated on the Day of the Floods (Sometime after the Spring Solistice when ice starts to melt in the mountains) and whose burnt offering is the Water Buffalo.

The God of the Sand's domain is the Great Seas of Sand, and he is also lord of the dead. He is offered a burnt offering of Wheat, and his holy day is the Rise of the Moon (Summer Solistice).

The origin of the Lanee lies in the mists of myth. Each ship on the Flotilla claims a different reason for leaving the mainland, be it fleeing from persecution to just wanting to join the freedom that comes with not being tied to the land.

At the cenre of the Flotilla is the Sesse. It is the largest of the ships, rumoured to be permenantly anchored to the ocean floor. On it, lives the Admiral, technical ruler of the Lanee. However, his power doesn't really extend much beyond his own ship. All other ships are ruled by their own captains. Greater captains (with bigger ships) tend to dominate lesser captains (who have smaller ships, or have just joined the Flotilla for whatever reason) militarily. Although, it never comes down to bloodshed. The decision lies with the Admiral over all disputes. And if any captain doesn't like the decision, he can leave the Flotilla.

The only real contact with the outside world is when members of the Flotilla go iinto port to trade. Or members of the outside world contact them.

Jenetian society is loosely based around the three main Castes: the Religious (Jadueh), the Worker (Jaffe) and the Warrior (Jakune). They each have their shortcomings and surpluses, and depend on eachother to thrive as a whole.

Each Caste's role in society should be obvious; if not, here's a summary:

Members of the Religious Caste, known as Jadueh(Chosen Ones) are often priests or Holy Men, who talk to Jah (The One), and can grant his blessings to mortals and absolve sins (should The One warrant it)

Members of the Worker Caste, known as Jaffe(Green Ones) vary greatly in wealth, rank and societal position; there is everything from the rich landowning farmers known as Jaffe-ahnk (Green Farming Ones) to the lowly fisherman, herder and metalsworker, known simply as Jaffe.

Members of the Warrior Caste, known as Jakune(Bloodied Ones) often vary as greatly as the Jaffe; everything from Warlords and Generals (Jak-uike) to the common spearbearer, archer or camel rider.

--
Jenet's capitol, Janet, is located at the mouth of the Jafune River, on the edge of the Wastes (the desert), and was supposedly founded by Jah, the Jenetian's Monotheistic God, at the beginning of time.

Klaraternize(roughly translated: Place of the Gods)/Zergy6
Government:Theocracy
Starting position:High in the mountains
Color:Light blue/Turquoise
Economy:
Technology:
Army:
Navy:
Unrest: 0
Projects: (Would like to do a giant temple later)
Description:

The Klaraternize people are oblivious to the outside world, save for a few messangers with neighboring tribes in the desert and mountians- although communication may take a month or more. Their religion is very superstitious, often including things like wolfmen and evil spirits that haunt the mountains at night. Their religion centers around one main god, two lesser gods, and several minor gods.

Villages are nothing more than about 10-25 huts slapped together in a small area with a shrine in the center of the 'village.' The main city has a central, pyramid-shaped body with a temple on top(Think Aztec temples). Houses are roughly built from stone and are only one story high. Outside the city are mud huts. The name of the capital is Klhoro, roughly translated to 'The Gods' Refuge.'

Finding a way to live is hard in the Place of the Gods. Crops do not grow well, but animals live all around in the caves. There is the occasional grassy clearing where a few small streams run through, bringing water for crops, but nothing grows in the rockier soil. Finding water is harder. The closest one to the city is about 8.3 miles away, at the top of a mountain. To prevent walking there every day, about 300 citizens walk, each one with a barrel, to the top and fill it with water once a month. Many citizens enjoy 'barrel rolling,' a sport in which all of the 300 citizens race down the mountainside on the barrels. Thus many barrels break, leaving only about 230 left. There is still enough to quench the city's need for water, and gets the water there faster.

The city is very warlike, for the barbarian tribes that live around are always pillaging villages and stealing food and water. Also, the violence seems to appease the gods, so say the leader-priests. Thus the city has a big army, but no navy because there is no way to get to the sea. However, the mountains provide a challenge for raiders ,or other armies, trying to get in from the mountain bases. Most of the military are footsoldiers, but there are some calvary that are mounted on mountain goats, but it is hard to tame them for military use.

Hey moose! I changed my country a little, I hope it is Ok.

Sarpade/erez87
Government: Lords Council
Starting position: Some nice lush grasslands with capital a coastal one
Color: royal purple
Economy:
Technology:
Army:
Navy:
Unrest: 0
Projects:
Description: The Sarpade are a nation of horse and other domesticated animals breeders. Their nation exist on a large rich grassland area that perfectly fits the idea of animal husbandry. Their culture is based on the animals that surround them and their gods usually take animal forms.

Not long ago in this area hunter gatherers existed but as soon as in some far away area food production was invented the idea moved across the lands and quickly arrived in this lands. The Sarpade are not the ancient hunter gatherers but actually "new comers" that arrived in the area with their domesticated animals a few thousands years ago. As soon as they arrived their superior numbers quickly pushed away earlier inhabitants and soon their culture forgot they were even new comers.

In this rich grasslands and plains the Sarpade quickly developed their animal husbandry into new levels quickly becoming a nation of shepherds etc... Their strange culture allowed for several semi-"tribes" of Sarpade to form and gain contorl of most livestock. This "tribes" were controlled by a single lord and the country was controlled by a council of the lords. The council met every other year and when needed in the capital of the country, also the only city that was ever built by the Sarpade. The city of Sarp.

The capital of Sarp is more of a giant village then a city. It is sporadically built with houses and other structures and most of its habitants exist from fishing, farming and domesticated animals. The city is not walled and one could just call it a large area with stationary inhabitants rather then a city. The largest structures are easily the temples to the major gods and the hall of lords. It is the largest farmlands in Sarpade and some claim it to be the only one for most of their food economy is based on domesticated animals. The tribes rule the rest of the country constantly expanding the borders into new grazing lands for their vast giant herds of animals. Currently there are about 23 lords in the country. The Sarpade have also domesticated the horse for food and in some cases (ooc: if allowed) for riding. They also domesticated their own breed of dogs called Sepire dog in other places which is a large well built dog that is perfect for handling flocks of domesticated animals.

Their religion is based on several major animal gods and other minor ones and it is a mostly polytheistic type of faith. Their religion while important is not a hard one and they accept other outside religion from strangers.

They do not build large ships but only small ones for fishing and some sort of way to transport goods across the coastal areas of the country. They despise the idea of a navy and prefer the land.

Country name/player name: Kronaria / Nethys
Government: Despotism
Starting position: northwest of jenet on the savanna coast
Color: Dark red
Economy:
Technology:
Army:
Navy:
Unrest: 0
Projects:
Description: The kronarians are tribes of savages ruled by a single leader. To obtain leadership one must have accomplished all the blood rituals up to the rank of executionner, which he can then challenge the leader in battle. Their pantheon has only three gods, Kru Arasu which is the destroyer, Ver Akath the soul drinker and Bal Nikrit the flesh eater. Only by pleasing the three gods a kronarian can hope to be reformed into a powerful demon in service of their gods.
No one in kronaria except the executionner can kill another kronarian. When he kills a criminal it is up to him to carry the rituals and keep the bones as his own personal treasure. Infighting is exceedingly low except in the proper rituals. However killing anyone who is not of kronaria is highly encouraged and is a requisite for advancement in social ranks.
Bonecraft is also a predominant skill to be acquired for advancement as one must decorate his clothing, armor and furniture with all his past kills.

Can I have 200 Militia, 100 Infantry and 2 Ships? (I guess the reason would be only 2 of the ships in Flotilla can actually put up a fight)

I think most of my income is going to have to be fishing and pirate-capturing.

Update 0:
Ancient Webbite Inscription as translated by modern day archaeologists. They still cannot decipher what it means:
“LOLz WTH we be PWNing Wurld!!!!!11! N00b1z!”

The island in the north is known by many names. By the Webbites as OMG!LAND, by Minnestron as the Land past the Soup, but by most as Akhaaz. Much of the island is under the reign of the Akhaazi people. They are a superstitious lot, sticking mainly to the coastal areas, as they believe they were born in the sea. As a people, they are traders, merchants, and fishermen more than warriors as there is no real threat to them on the island, except for sporadic raids by a few savages.

To the east of Akhaaz is the main area occupied by Lanee, or as many call it, the Flotilla. Lanee is a group of ships inhabited by people who have decided that they would rather live on their ship than on the mainland. The greater captains with larger ships generally have more influence and power.

On the mainland live many peoples. In the river delta to the far north is Terrey. The Terreyans once lived to the south in the deserts. They moved north into the fertile river delta they now call home, because as more peoples sprang up, the Terreyans began to be persecuted for their religious beliefs. The Terreyans are a very agrarian people. In any place where they do not have a village, it is farmland. They grow mainly wheat, and they grow much of it, because their land is very fertile. Religion is a hugely important aspect of every Terreyan’s life. They believe in one main god, Terreya, from whom they take their name. They believe that trees are very sacred to Terreya, and so they plant many trees, and often pray in forests.

High in the mountains to the west of Terrey live the people of Klaraternize. They call themselves the “people of the gods”, as they live in “the place of the gods”. There is little water high up in the mountains, so in order to get water to drink, the people take barrels up to the closest river or fresh water spring and fill them every day. They use this water for their crops and for drinking.

South of Klaraternize is Ibernia. Ibernia is the result of a civil war that had destroyed the greatest civilization the world had seen west of the mountains. That civilization may still exist past the mountains, but no person has been there in many decades. As a result of that civil war, Ibernia is a theocracy, and is the most technologically advanced tribe in the known world.

To the south of Terrey, along the same river live the people of Minnestron. : Minnestron is a land that many other consider weird. The inhabitants of Minnestron will eat nothing unless it is in the form of soup. They consider it a great insult to serve food on a plate, and their homes resemble large bowls. Many historians theorize that Minestrone soup was first invented by the Minnestron.

South of Minnestron is the Pedelan tribe. Pedelan is a group of nomadic herdsmen in the Ahali Desert. They have but one central location based at the natural spring which the council of Elders sits. The population is mobile throughout the desert, herding their camels and goats as the seasons dictates.

Along the coast of the mainland is Kronaria. It is a land of bloodthirsty savages whom are constantly trained in warfare. Only their executioner can kill another Kronarian, and he is seen as the leader of the tribe. It is a grave offense for one Kronarian to kill another, but killing anyone else is highly encouraged.

East of Kronaria is Jenet. Jenetians live is a caste system, where everyone has a clearly defined role in society. There are priests, warriors, and the workers. The caste systems are divided by the role in society and not by wealth, so workers can be rich, and soldiers can be poor.

Along the same river as Jenet is Sryyn’yh. The people of Sryyn’yh are a hard-working and religious people. They worship their deities withy burnt offerings around the time of the solstices, which they see as their deities’ holidays. Unlike other tribes caste system, the Sryyn’yh people can advance their place in society, and those who do move up the social ladder are praised.

South of Sryyn’yh is the land of Boker. The Bokers are a very social people. They constantly talk with each other day and night. However, they are considered excellent negotiators, as they will talk and talk until the other side’s ears bleed and agree to anything to get out of there.

East of Boker, along the coast is the Undeanean Empire. Ruled by a relatively new monarchy, Undeanea is becoming more prosperous than it had been previously. The new monarchy is made of believers in the gods, unlike the previous rulers.

South of Ibernia live the Webbites. The Webbites are widely despised by all. They maintain nothing, and any government they establish eventually descends into anarchy. They have very few skills, except for name-calling and insults. They steal from other tribes and the land, and what they cannot pilfer, they take by force using their large militia.

On the south coast of the mainland, south of the Webbites are the people of Zelalta. Zelalta is a land of strange ideas. They see the ground as very sacred, and so live in the trees of the rainforest with walkways connecting trees into towns and villages. They also view men and women as equals. The people of Zelalta live under a limited monarchy, where many decisions come from the monarchs, but important decisions are voted upon by the Council.

In the far east, separated from most people live the people of Sarpade. The Sarpade live on lush grasslands and raise many animals. They come from a land far across the ocean, that they have since forgotten. Sarpade breeds domesticated animals that they had brought with them across the ocean. They now despise the sea, and only uses small fishing ships on the waters.

In the far west, along the edge of the known world live the people of Ballard. Ballard is just about your everyday, average nation. It isn’t very special except for one small quirk. The Ballardians have terrible aim. When swinging a sword, they’re just as likely to hit the man next to them as the enemy. Therefore, they keep the army small to reduce casualties, but can raise a militia if needed.

South of Ballard is Lintitte. Lintitte was formed from many cultures conquering and assimilating each other. The first two were very much alike with the same level of technology and pagan beliefs. The Linttite came in and introduced new technologies. They then took over important positions in the government and eventually took control of the land. Then when another invader came in, the Lintitte united and subjugated the invaders into a third class of slaves. After this, the king was seen as part-god, and the old religion was forgotten.

On the southernmost island, live the people of Kor Thasse. They live among the trees of the rainforest. Their mainly wooden buildings blend in with the trees. The villages are run by elders or councils, with the entire nation ruled by the council in the capital. Kor Thasse values education, and the councils are created by a meritocracy. Much of the nations food comes from fishing, as the island is volcanic and there are few good spots for farming.

As having been contacted by our admirable neighbours this way has done nothing but pleased us; we rejoice in the common friendship that is rising between our shared power.

We nod acknowledgingly to Kor Thasse's early initiatives and Zelalta's expansion upon those programs. However, we wish more clear terms than the somewhat vague proposals of our fine friends. We have clarified it in the attached document.

We hope that this mutual agreement will help our nations prevail against any outside threat and have us progress into mutual glory!

The Korian Sea Pact

As by carving your words into this stone and paper, the three of Kor Thasse, Lintitte and Zelalta will enter mutual cooperation and alignment. Towards the end of days, the three will still stand for their guarantee of the other's safety.

As by signing this, a House of Provinces will be built in Kor Thasse, to represent the mutual interests of the trade pact. Each province will have three voters in this House; each province will have one enforcer. The enforcers may propose Acts to evoke; each such Act will be voted upon by both all voters and by all enforcers in seven days. If both the voters and the enforcers have agreed to the Act, it will be evoked.

As by signing this, the ruler of his province will have free will to elect his own voters and enforcers, and none to elect his peers'.

As by signing this, the ruler of his province will not fend to rule the House by himself.

As by signing this, the ruler of his province agrees to follow the demands of the Acts. If he fails to do so, an enforcer may propose a banishment of that ruler. The House will vote as normal, and if they vote in favor of that ruler's dismissal, he will be forced to abdicate. If he declines, he will be banished from the Korian Sea Pact.

As by signing this, the ruler of his province will treat all banished provinces with war and suffering until they have paid a price found just by the House of Provinces. That province will then be embargoed by Korian Sea trade until ended by the House of Provinces.

As by signing this, the ruler of his province will act against enemies of his peers by supporting in times of war with times of war against the said peers. As such, all of our provinces will act as one fist in battle.

As by signing this, the descendants of the ruler of his province must sign this to acquire his throne.

The City Council of Kota has passed this historic treaty with an overwhelming majority. Naturally a few members were against the military aspect of the document but their numbers are insignificant. The treaty has been sent to the outlying village councils yet the City Council does not foresee any of them refusing it and has therefore approved the treaty's signing.

To commemorate this event the City Council has appropriated funds for the visit of the dignitaries of Lintitte and Zelalta. The planned itinerary follows:

The First Day
-Arrival in the afternoon in Kota
-Tour of the Palace and meet the council
-Banquet with a circus troupe for entertainment

The Second Day
-Breakfast
-Tour of the city and inspection of the new International District
-Luncheon on the waterfront
-Tour of the Palace Gardens to experience local flora and fauna
-Banquet and dance

The Third Day
-Breakfast
-Tour of the Shipwrights' District
-Trip to the fisheries and pearl divers
-Sail up river to the largest village of Kor Thasse to meet council
-Native luncheon
-Tour spice plantations and hardwood groves
-Return to Kota
-Final banquet

The Fourth Day
-Breakfast
-Closing ceremony
-Embarkment for Lintitte and Zelalta

From: The King Korasism I Of Zelalta
As we are all people of rainforests, we would like to discuss some problems with the ways you live. The people of Zelalta live in the trees not touching the ground because it is very sacred and would like to preserve it, we would like to request you try to start living like this, of course it is acceptable if you choose not to, as these are my peoples beliefs, and your two nations have different beliefs regarding living styles, please don't be offended by this, it's just as some of my people are disgusted by how you live on the ground and contaminate it, and I am just trying to make them happy by sending this, again don't be offended. As we have said before it is completely acceptable to reject this offer, we actually expect it.
-King Korasism I

OOC: As you can see Zelalta's people always try to spread their beliefs to other nations, they think its there duty to get all of the inhabitants of the Rainforests [At least as you really can't live in large trees in the desert] living in tall trees to keep the ground pristine and sacred

Dearest King Korasism I of All Zelalta

We will of course decline to your proposal. Your faith is not an integral part of our Pact, and shall therefore be treated as such; if you are still interested in spreading your old beliefs within our nation, you can propose it as an Act, although it will be unconstitutional and we know where our voters will stand.

Mark my words, we have taken no offense. But this is a reminder that our Pact is a Pact, but nothing more; we cooperate for the mutual benefit of our nations; we will help out with problems. But there is no enforcing one party for the sake of the other. And we like to plow our soil into fields and food, thank you.

Triangle Alliance Pact

I, as head priest of the Klaraternize, have decided to write this myself. This is of utmost importance for the future times of our civilizations. I am proposing an alliance pact.

By signing the pact:

In any time of war, if any of our nations are attacked, we will immediately rush to the aid of our partner.

A head war-seer will be installed in each capital of each nation, with the war-seer leading the army out to war, proposing strategies, and other things like that. Army commanders will still have the decision to advance, retreat, ect.

Finally, the peace part. No matter how angry any nation is to another nation in the alliance, we shall never fight each other. If this happens, the one advancing into another's will be banished from the alliance forever. Furthermore, both remaining alliance members will oppress the banished one's army, until beaten off.
Please, just send someone to negotiate. This could be deadly if there is a war in the alliance, if there is another was waging just around the corner.

Signed,
Io Klarunna, High Priest of the Klaraterize
Iou Lonna, Adviser to the High Priest
Tuun Alssuna, Assistant to the High Priest

P.S.: Io, Iou and Tuun are titles that demand respect.

The notes of Lily Ko-Selta, City Council Notary, on this 75th session in the 23rd term of the City Council:

...
Mirriam Riike, Head of Council: For our next order of business I wish to bring to the council's attention a request of our neighbors across the Korian Sea. Our brothers and sisters in Zelalta believe the ground to be sacred to the point at which they live in the great trees of the jungle and construct walkways between the dwellings. They have asked that the people of Lintitte and Kor Thasse adopt these customs as we are also jungle cultures. The emperor of Lintitte has declined. However I believe the issue should be placed before you to discuss as we are perhaps more alike the culutre of Zelalta.
Erdo Horre, Council Member: It is true that we have much in common with the Zelaltan beliefs. Our own people would much rather navigate via the many waterways that are throughout our lands. During the rainy season it is difficult to find solid ground to stand upon! We should adopt this custom.
Vicc'o Solt, Council Member: While such a movement may do much to embrace our cultural heritage and bring our two peoples together it would be highly impractical here in Kota which is the one area that is where such a custom is least observed. Many of the villages practice this or have some other form of Earth reverence rituals. Kota is a city built on a river and a waterfront. We need to beach our ships, we rely on the lumber from the hardwood groves for construction, and our spice plantations bring trade so we may aquire the goods we lack. We would have to give all of these up to live amongst the trees.
...
The vote on the people of Kota adopting a tree-top lifestyle fails with 83 against and 37 for . The following conditions apply:
-The villages may continue to practice or adopt tree-top living
-A park will be created in Kota which will help the citizens reconnect with the Earth; No one will be allowed to touch the ground in the park
-There will be at least on holiday every year to celebrate the Earth
...
Mirriam Riike, Head of Council: Now we must discuss a matter which was raised by Guisep Ter-af. I will let him explain.
Guisep Ter-af, Court Geographer and Council Member: After studying maps of the island and Korian Sea I have discovered that our island may be larger than previously believed. I have discussed the possiblity of an exploration venture to General Throum'u [Head of Kor Thasse's Army] and he seemed quite pleased with the thought. Admiral Sheridox [Head of Kor Thasse's Navy] said she would support such a venture by sailing around the island while the ground forces marched inland. However both commanders await the council's decision before moving forward.
...
The vote passes 118 for and 2 against.

Update 1: The Christmas Present
Ancient Minnestron song as translated by modern day archaeologists. “Joy to the world, the great soup has come. Let us enjoy its taste. And every person shall know the goodness and celebrate with us, and celebrate with us, as we eat the soup!”

The Akhaazi people, in the North Sea, on the isle of Akhaaz have grown. The populace has expanded, and Akhaaz has developed newer, better techniques for fishing,(+Economy). To accommodate the increased population, Akhaaz has peaceful expanded, bribing the small tribes of barbarians with food and goods.

The floating nation of Lanee captured a notable pirate that had been terrorizing many trading ships around the coastline of the mainland. Capturing the ship, the captains took the pirate’s booty and distributed it among themselves.(+Banked Econ). However, this fortuitous event came at a price.

Evidently envious of Lanee’s good fortune, the mad ruler of Ibernia decided to march across the continent to the sea, dragging their ship behind them. However, halfway there, the military of Ibernia decided that they would never reach the sea and turned back. (-150 Militia due to the rigors of travel. +unrest.) In light of this failed invasion, the ruler of Ibernia increased the strength of his military by training 50 Cavalry and raising another 200 Militia.

In the northern river delta, lies the land of Terrey. Improving upon the lush lands around the river delta, the people of Terrey have built new farms. To aid the farmers in getting their produce to the city on Iegar, the “Island of the People”, the ruler of Terrey has created new roads leading into the city. Terrey has used military force to expand along the coastline of the mainland, taking a few casualties from the savages’ sporadic resistance.

In the mountains to the west, Klaraternize is slowly growing. With not much spending to speak of, the government is amassing wealth. Who knows what they will do with this wealth? In other news, Klaraternize has made a trade agreement with the other nation of the mountains, Ibernia, as well as an agreement with the nations of Terrey and Minnestron.

Minnestron has created new farms to improve vegetable growth for their soups.(+Economy) In addition to this, they have trained 100 more soldiers to defend their lands. In order to properly feed everyone in the nation, they have also begun an ambitious project. King Campbell of Minnestron has decided to create a great big bowl of soup that will be filled with excess food (soup) and used to feed the poor. Minnestron has also agreed to a trade agreement with both Terrey and Klaraternize.

The rulers of Pedelan have decided to create markets to give their traders a place to trade. Protecting these markets are armed guards, dealing swift, harsh punishment to thieves. They have also been building irrigation ditches to increase the output of their farms. The people of Pedelan have long been throwing rocks into fires. Eventually they noticed that some of the rocks melted and formed a shiny material. They have begun gathering this material and trying to make tools out of it.(+Tech) They have also expanded their lands by bullying and bribing local barbarian chieftains.

Kronaria is another nation that has done little over the past years. They have sat and amassed the wealth from their economy and expanded a little. They also have not made any agreements with neighboring nations, preferring instead to slaughter the barbarians near their own land.

Jenet has been a busy nation over the past few years. They have begun building a great port, the Port of Janet. To help pay for the cost of the port, the rulers increased the tax on the populace of Jenet. However, they were unwilling to pay, so the ruler had his Militia dress like the army of Sryyn’yh and terrorize his own people into paying a tax for their “defense”. It worked, and to further the nationalism, the king has had rumors spread of horrible atrocities that the people of Sryyn’yh have committed.(+Banked Econ, +Unrest) On the other hand, Jenet offers deals of peace and trade with the people of Syrrn’yh, Undeanea, and Kronaria.

“And we thank you all for accepting our offering and providing another year of happiness.” The people of Sryyn’yh did have much to be thankful for. The land flourished and much food did grow. They had also developed friendly relations with the nations around them; effectively entering into an alliance with Ibernia and creating a trading route between themselves and Jenet. The people also began work on a great temple to their god of the mountains.

The talkative people of the land of Boker have been expanding in a rush towards the coast. They have been strangely amassing an army. It must be the result of the new council, led by Elder Arian. They have also begun constructing a monument. Named the Crazy Horse Monument, it is as yet unclear as to what it is being built in honor of. It could be a monument honoring insane horses, or the late Elder “Crazy Horse”.

The Undeanean Empire has been growing steadily over the past years. They have expanded southwards along the coast. As well as reaping bountiful harvests, they have amassed some wealth for later spending.

The Webbites have been very busy. Rather than working themselves, they have bullied and enslaved local barbarian tribes to farm for them. They have also stolen all the wealth they could find, adorning themselves with precious jewels and metals. They have also begun compiling a tome of the greatest insults they can think of, which will be viewable for a fee from its citizens, as well as memorized by every member of their armed forces for shouting in battle.
Sarpade continues to breed animals, especially horses. They have expanded for that reason, and that reason alone. Gaining more lush grassland for their horses, they have begun breeding better, faster, stronger horses for their military and for the general populace. They have also begun growing better crops and more of them to feed the growing population(+Economy).

The council of Zelalta has decided to repeal the law banning people from touching the ground. This has led to increased expansion, although the people have not yet left the rainforest. The council also saw it fit to increase the size of the militia to help expansion, as someone needs to fight of jungle predators and the barbarian tribes to clear the way for the Zelaltan people. They have also signed a pact with the other peoples of the Korian Sea, Lintitte and Kor Thasse.

The people of Lintitte may have been idle, but their ruler has not been. He has signed the Korian Sea Pact with Zelalta and Kor Thasse, helping all three nations. The military of Lintitte has also been roving around, claiming more territory for the nation of Lintitte.

The nation of Kor Thasse has been exploring and expanding. They have annexed most of the northern half of the island, and are working on bringing in more territory. They are also the third member of the Korian Sea Pact, along with Lintitte and Zelalta. They hosted a four-day feast and tour of the nation, welcoming ambassadors from both Zelalta and Lintitte. The wise men of Kor Thasse have been experimenting, and with a little aid from the people of Lintitte, they have made some interesting discoveries.(+Tech)

In Ballard, the average man had terrible aim. To remedy this, the King has brought in mercenaries from a foreign land across the mountains, to help train the aim of Ballard’s military, as well as to help defend Ballard against any threats. To improve the prowess of the Ballardian military, as well as train their aim, they will be participating in mock battles rather often, with the King himself participating to inspire his men. They have also begun training their military in stealth and night attacks. To improve performance, the King has offered rewards to exceptionally good military members, including titles of nobility and permanent tax exemptions. They have begun using this training on the barbarian tribes as they expand southwards.

A bit bored, so trying a story.

The Administrative System of Central Ballard- Prologue
Within the Ballardian Empire, the primary geographical distinction was three-way- between the core lands around the capital (who generally used variants the commonly accepted pronounciation), the peripheral Northern lands in which the Empire originated but which were now ignored (who generally used the pronounciation "Ballaed"), and the ever-growing conquests since the Great Reform (who generally spoke distinctive tribal languages).

Of these, the people of "Central Ballard" (the capital region) in particular were known for consistency- compared to the decentralisation and low-level unrest in the rest of the Empire, they in particular were under Royal control and therefore could be administered as the King (why a King was part of an Empire will be explained later) wanted. This created the consistency which made them worth describing.

The basic system was created by Renched XV (it was a popular name amongst Ballardian Emperors), and involved the Four Levels of Government- the King at the top, the Governors below them, "Chiefs" and Nobility below them, and finally "Army Lords". Power was in theory centralised in the King answerable to the Emperor, but in practice mostly under the control of the Chiefs and Nobility.

The role of each of the four castes (and their origin) will be gone into...

Here is a little, story(?).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Zelalta Council Elder,Lorya Paryat, was sitting in the Council Chambers, the council was about to vote on Resolution # 1060. The Resolution stated; This Resolution hereby repels the Law of Not Being able to touch the ground. The Council member who created this Resolution, was a new council member voted just a month ago, this was the first Resolution he created. His name was Yoran Weexe.
Yoran started his speech to the Council "Glorious Councilors of The Council Of Zelalta, I am here today to try and pass what I think is a very important issue in our society. The issue? The Law that bans people from Touching the Ground, This Law is pointless, sure it has been in effect for Generations, but is it really necessary? Do we want the other nations of the World to look down apon us as the "People Who Don't Touch the Ground?!!?" The Resolution Banning that law would greaty assist our Nation in becoming a World Power, Just think, If this resolution is passed we could make our Nation larger by Moving out the rain forests"
As Yoran sat down breathless. One of the oldest Council Members, Wetya Hotkan stood up. And started Speaking.
"Do you the Council of Zelalta, really want to listen to a NEW member of the Council? He suggests we Repel the Law of Not Touching the ground, This is ABSURD! I Do not think we should ban it, for one it protects from the predators of the Rainforest such as the Tangs, and Gors, Some of the most fearsome animals on the planet! But we also have the law, because the ground is sacred, and many of us Believe it needs to be untouched! So I urge you to not vote for this resolution! And save our traditions!
After a few more speeches. Lorya Paryat the Council Elder stood up and called attention to the Council, he then said, "You the Council Members have heard both sides, now I urge you to vote for which ever side will benefit our Great Country the most, choose wisely".
After the votes had been counted up, Lorya, then called attention to the tired crowd, announces that the end the Resolution passed 264 to 236.
....The End, I will continue Tomorrow with more(?) if anyone wants it..
It seems that our neighbors from the south are uniting, and if we do not unite ourselves, we will surely be conquered. The kingdom of Terrey proposes an alliance between our nations, the River Pact, which shall include free trade, military co-operation and aid in times of need. We can assure you, that if we stand alone, we die alone, but together we can make a diffrence, and bring order and peace to the northernlands. Do you accept?
Okay, updated stats yesterday, and now to be answering the questions.
1. Increase Economy by spending EP on increasing the economy, please include a reason as well. (e.g. - Irrigation, new markets, Bountiful crop harvests, etc.)
2. Increase your technology level by spending EP on it.
3. The army and navy are as good as your tech level, when your tech advances, you'll be able to upgrade your army and navy for 1 EP for every 600 soldiers, in any combination. (e.g. 600 Militia, 400 Infantry + 200 Militia, 400 Cavalry + 200 Infantry, etc.)
4.How much economy does one have to invest before our economy grow +1 ? Generally as much as you gained that turn, for instance if your Economy is 3/0, if you invest 3, your economy will go up. However, some players will get lucky and get an upgrade for cheaper. (As in, I just rolled a 20 on a d20.)
5. Projects get completed by 1 each turn, but investing 2 EP will count as an extra turn.
Any more questions or clarifications?
(for those who don't get it, this happened about two weeks before the update took place.)
The messenger sat quietly on the large bench before the priest's humble desk. The fearful little Outlander fellow had arrived early this morning, and had been kept waiting, on Jahvik's orders.
"Jadueh, they still refuse the tax."
At last, the outlander spoke. Jahvik hated everything about this man, he decided; his colorful eyes and light skin were an unusual trait at best, though his high-pitched voice and irritating mouse-like demeanor sealed the deal.
"Still?" Jahvik snapped. "Send Jak-uike Makune in, please."
Jahvik was growing tired of the rebellious nature of the Jaffe outside the City. It was time for action, it seemed. Shortly the messenger left and Makune, the tall, muscular general entered.
"Makune, the outlands are still refusing the new defense tax. They believe it unjustified, I'm told." Jahvik said quietly.
"Whatever you decide, the Jak-uike are behind you." he said, taking a seat.
"I would expect nothing less. An unfortunate accident, perhaps, should befall one of the Border towns."
"Yes. I'll arrange it with the other Jak-uike and Jadueh shortly. Anothe-"
They both stood up abruptly as a loud scuffle erupted just outside the office. Two lightly armed guards entered, dragging the limping figure of the messenger. "He was listening in, head pressed against door, Jadueh."
"Kill him."
Neither guard had hesitation. The man's neck was cut open and his blood gushed freely for a good minute and a half, covering his clothes and the floor as he was dragged off.
I should start getting back into things myself...
The Administrative System of Central Ballard- Part 1 (From Chieftans to Army Lords)
i: The Peasant's War
Since before it's recorded history began, most of Ballard was run under one of several quasi-tribal systems- Non-Government (taking orders from Ballard's Emperors but having a form of 'mob rule' at home and councils of some percentage of the tribesmen when necessary), Chieftancy (a Chieftan, usually either hereditary or with the right to choose his sucessor, having control over local affairs), Eldership (a single Elder or Council of Elders running the region according to a set of laws they remembered) or Shamanship (a Shaman, claiming the right to interpret the will of the Gods or Spirits, and using this power to control local affairs).
The reign of Renched XIII began to change this. Renched was not only a corrupt man, but one used to the idea of monarchy- court traditions had exalted the idea of a hereditary ruler, leading him to implicitly assume it was the only form of government. Confusing various types of institutions, he sought to impose Chieftancies on his lands.
The result was the Ballardian (there were other ones) Ten Years War- a war characterised by peasant confederations (each made up of various villages in revolt) attempting to unite to form a common army, thwarted by smaller but more organised Imperial forces attempting to stop them. Both sides would experiment with barbarian mercenaries in insignificant numbers, foreshadowing later developments.
Ultimately, the war came to an anticlimatic end. Imperial forces believed themselves close to victory, as disease was killing far more peasants in the revolting forces then theirs. However, this was rendered irrelevant by the death of Renched due to the plague, and a stalemate due to the coming winter.
Rollan I was reluctant to attack, hoping for further plagues. However, the spring affected his forces worse than the revolters- technically more of their soldiers died, but sufficent reinforcements converged on the main Imperial posistion as to force them to terms. After a few weeks of negotiation, most of Renched's favourites had lost their posistions.
ii: The Consolidation Period
Renched XIII would not have regretted the Ballardian Ten Years War, and may even have accepted it's result. However, he would have commited suicide had he realised where it's results would eventually lead.
During the war, roughly 30% of Imperial forces were led by Chieftans, exposing them to death in battle and through disease (and foreshadowing the future Army Lords). Additionally, Chiefs were seperated from their subjects, leading them to look elsewhere for marriages. Inevitably, several Personal Unions emerged- one man being rightful Chief of two or more villages.
Chiefs in the sense Renched XV understood them began here, during the reigns of Rollan I and Renched XIV- members of organised dynasties, each attempting to exploit inheritance laws and marital gambits to expand their domains and increase their influence. They were not technically Noblemen (Nobility at the time was mostly confined to Court officials), but they saw themselves as such.
(To be continued)
Well, I'm bored and I don't post much...
So here is a story on my people's religion.
The Book of Klaraternize - Part 1 of 4
The World's Beginnings
In the beginning of the world, there was nothing but a swirling void of chaos, with nothing to control or end it. For thousands of years this void raged, until one day...
An unknown babe, unmarked and with no parents, fell into the center of the void. There it lay, sleeping for three days until it became a man of about thirty years of age. In control of the void itself, he took it for himself, first creating a suitable wife for himself, and then shaping the world.
The gods had created the universe.
The world now formed, but uncreated fully, the god and his wife needed gods under them to run and help create the world. So it was such that he created six more, one for each element he would need- Water, Air, Earth, Fire, Death, and Life. And so had the gods' existence begun.
First, the god commanded that water fill the world.
And so the seas and rivers were created.
Then, for there were no barriers between the water, he had the earth god create land between the seas and rivers. He also needed somewhere for them to live, in between the air and ground. So the mountains were created.
Land had risen.
But there would need to be space to move around in, to make things lighter...So the god had the air element create air, to allow things to move.
Air had been created.
Alone with only his fellow people, the god commanded Life to make creatures.
So then people had begun to inhabit the earth.
He feared the eventually, the creatures could amass and destroy everything. He commanded Death to roam the earth forever, killing off those who were supposed to die.
Death began to stalk the earth.
The earth was a cold wasteland. So he had Fire create the sun and put it high over the world, creating the earth.
The sun was made.
But the world, although complete, was still a wasteland of dirt and nothing else...
