Am i like the only person that is waiting for PTW to come out so that i can play hotseat and by e-mail? Before i venture out onto the net to play, i need to kick my brothers a$$. I usually play on monarch, my twin on regent and my oldest brother on chieftan/warlord (he doesn't like to lose:rolleyes: ) )

should be fun....

I'm looking foward to hotseat, too. My little cousin likes to play too (he's learning how to expand and build wonders, and colonize other islands). I'd have to put my 56k modem in my other computer (Civ3), but I think 56k kind of throws si-play out of the picture if you have 16+ players.

Yes i also have 56k that is why i am waiting for cable or dsl, for a couple of months, hotseat and e-mail

I think I am more tempermentally suited to PBEM, in part because scheduling will be easier and in part because it will be easier to play with some consistency; I would rather play against people who take their Civ identity somewhat seriously and take their time to have decent, consistent policies than play against people hoping to rack up points.

And hotseat with my girlfriend could be cool.

Although diplomacy will be complicated in PBEM. Anyone experienced PBEM in Civ2 MP know how that will work?

The way I heard it, diplomacy in PTW PBEM is handled by sending an offer back and forth till both patries accept it.

The way I'd do it is to send an e-mail (or IM) explaining exactly the terms off-line from the game so that this could be done in the least number of turns.

in hotseat you just will have talk to the person :)

Also in hotseat you can do to the AI what they always do to you in normal games. I did the following thing just for fun in Activision's CTP.

1: make 7 human players and 1 AI
2: deny them all techs and basically just make their lives miserable.

Ahhhh sweet revenge.

That has to be fun. AI tends to just get trade embargoes against me, WAR that solves all the worlds problems(as long as u win)

I hate it when the AI embagos me, so having about 4 duplicates of myself will be sweet! Time to get that revenge I was looking for. *looks around room menacingly* :crazyeye:

Yep Hotseat is the way to have fun against the AI. You get to do the same thing they do to you. You can deny them techs, allies, and trade. Bwuhahahahahahahahahaha.

Well we older brothers need to keep you little ones in your place. Sometimes a ego the size of Asia is needed.

Not if you don't realize your little brother is better and he and his twin are going to team up on his ego and shrink it down to a couple cities, cause all have to do is meet him early cause he always has about 2 spearmen and 2 archers guarding about 12 cities by the time he gets out of the ancient ages. Oh yeah, the 4 units is because he doesn't have to be afraid of attacks. He plays on chieftan/warlord

hehe.. That's what I used to do in Civ2 (with that hotseat util). :) Although, it crashed if you tried to talk to yourself... (diplomacy)

So when you tried to talk to yourself, does that mean you have multiple personalities? ;)

Where i live it comes out tomorrow and i have it reserved, so i tell the rest of you how great it is to deprive the AI as they deprive me.

Anybody ever needs a hand in a PBEM I am totally up for it.

And hotseat "with myself" is going to be the next step in my schizophrenization...

:eek:Suddenly realized: If PTW is on the shelves in Scandinavia at the 22nd of November, I'll have less than a month to teach my brothers to like Civ so that I can play hotseat against them.

Playing with myself...er... I mean playing hotseat with myself doesn't seem like something that I will find hours of fun in, but I'll probably try it just to pay back to the AI.

I haven't had Englis in to yers, hope its not al dat bad.

Go to multiplayer

click on the location option to switch to local games

click Host

under game mode (where standard is the default) you can switch it to hotseat.

then i am sure you can figure it out.

YAY!!!!!!!!!! I finally got PTW last night and multiplayer is awesome, though all i have played is hotseat. No crashes what so ever. Downloaded new version and everything runs smoothly
