I realize you have to purchase the expansion pack or upgrade pack.
My question arises after I was surprised to see CIVIII listed on Yahoo Games. You can play CIV III online but it will cost $4.95 for 3 days ???

Does this mean there are going to be additional user fees to play online ?

I went to the yahoo games section for this ... think I have answered by own question. Its if you want to try the game out for 3 days - you can rent the game on demand. Maybe an alternative if someone wants to try it out prior to purchase.
Incidentally is there going to be an online forum of users looking for games hosted by MSN or some other provider ?

Yahoo has a service where you can rent the game (not quite sure how that would work.. I guess you'd need broadband...) for a fee. It's a completely different animal. :) You could rean PTW if they had it, but I don't think there's any extra costs.

Don't worry, Firaxis isn't THAT evil! That's only if you are downloading it. That Yahoo service is only good for a trial, IMO. Imagine paying $10 for a week of civ! I say, if you are going to download that, after 3 days, delete and just buy the game. Is anyone using that here, at CFC?
