Step 1:

GET OPEN FX OR BLENDER, THEY WILL SAVE YOU TIME IN THE LONG RUN.

Blender is better, and more powerful, but not as user friendly at first.

Open FX works, but it can be frustrating, as alot of things are rigid.... for example, there is no hotkey for "select"... a very important part of modeling, as it is how you select the points you want to move around to modify the model.

Blender, on the other hand, has hotkeys for everything. It also has many great built-in tools, like bevel, and ordered change.

So you can set it to pull one point off a grid, and have all the other points rise up with it to create a hill.

Open FX would just make a pyramid....

Blender also has alot more support, and tutorials... from beginner to advanced.

Rhino made me focus on frame by frame animation. They have an animator in the works... btu Rhino costs $600... Open FX is free, and Blender is free... and better!

Quick question: How do apply textures in Rhino?
I don't see anything in the menus but i'm probably missing it.
