Man do i hate gayspy.....i mean gamespy. Tried to play Quake 3 on it, they made me download some new patch every week. I quit playing on gamespy, was introduced to Civ 3 and haven't looked back ever since.

Yeah, it is pretty bad. Actually, most people will probably just organize games here, right?

You have to use gamespy (except for PBEM).

BTW, I go by WarpStorm.

Nope. It says in the manual that the only way to play MP is via GameSpy.

On PTW multiplayer it is just proletarian, the "-" are illegal characters on that.

gamespy is a program exactly like the all seeing eyes but with lot more publibityes, and slow and not good....


Gamespy will show you all the civ3 game that are waiting for player and the game currently in play ( but you won't be able to join i guess )
You don't need to have civ3 open when you are on gamespy simply double click on the game you want to play and you will join, the application will automatically update the game.

Also everytime there is a new update gamespy will scan your cpu and tell you if you are up to date ( with all your game )
and ask you if you want to download the latest patch.


If you don't download the patch you won,t be able to connect to game ( well normally there are always some game running with the older version but they are hard to find..

Do you have to pay to use gamespy??? Cause i remeber a year or two ago that it was free to signup and register.......is it still free or do i have to pay just to play you guys?

here are some you don,t have publicity each 5 min bugging you.. ( well if you are in game there is no publicity and gamespy goes dormant so it doesn eat system resource

you can send file trough gamespy if you pay...

you can also download patch from a gamespy server but it very fast, without waiting, if you didn't pay you probably will have to wait some time




So Yes it's free, but they encourage to pay ( which i didn,t do yet)

For what it is worth I am mauiduck on GameSpy. Hopefully I will get PTW tomorrow and hopoe to see some of you on-line this weekend, if the game doesn't crash like it has to some others...:)...

Apparantly everybody can start chatgroups over there, they last untill you stay in. Haven't found a real PTW gamegroup (through the game) but I haven't got the game yet, so that makes sense!
