Congratulations from the Cartographic Office! We eagerly anticipate the discovery of Map-making so that we can trade maps with our neighbors.

As deputy of the Science Dept., Gunning1 has been granted city naming rights. Please be sure to register your city name with our office (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34519).

Please have our research changed over to monarchy nex turn as we will be getting literature and polytheism from the Great Library.

Also, please lobby for changing the temples in production over to libraries next turn. :king:

We'll also need more depth in the science queue as we'll be spradically receiving techs from our AI friends.

Strider
Nov 06, 2002, 04:49 PM
Donsig: Monarcy is already set up after lit and poly.

Shaitan: Working on it.... through I can't seem to get any discussion started on it. I seem to be the only one who likes to make science queue's. Mind if I just poll it?

Shaitan
Nov 06, 2002, 05:58 PM
For a stop-gap measure that would be okay but it really requires discussion. We need an overall plan. With the Great Library we are best served by attacking dead end and empty research targets as the AI tends to skip some of these.

I haven't seen a recent discussion thread on queues. Did I miss one?

I am amazed at how many techs we got from the Great Library. My concern now is our one tech lead on the Japanese towards Chivalry. I would definitely like to have Knights attacking them before they get the Samurai. (sp?)

Does any nation have Monarchy yet? How about Feudalism?

FortyJ
Nov 09, 2002, 02:07 AM
Nobody has Monarchy yet, nor does anyone have Feudalism. But that won't last long.

In light of our "acquisition" of the Great Library, I think any research towards Monarchy or Republic would be wasted. The AI will discover these techs long before we get close. I therefore recommend switching our research efforts towards Engineering. There is a good chance that we will discover this before the AI, and can therefore trade it at a premium. Also, this would allow our knights (or swordsmen) to travel faster without the river penalty.

I have made my decision on appointees for the 2 planned Provincial Governor positions. donsig will be presented as Governor of the SouthWest Province and Cyc will be presented as Governor of the SouthEast Province. Many factors went into these decisions including the citizen feedback poll, my personal experience working with them on various projects and a mandate to get and keep both of them in official office.

FionnMcCumhall will be named to the Northern Province as soon as that province has another city. My personal feeling is that must happen very quickly. It is seriously underdeveloped and within the Capital's reduced corruption range.

All Department Leaders should respond to these 2 polls:
Confirmation for donsig to SouthWest Province (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36190)
Confirmation of Cyc to SouthEast Province (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36191)

Actually, I agree wih you, 40J. I was leaning towards switching to Feudalism, but that may be a waste of flasks also. Engineering may also be a waste of flasks, but it probably a better bet. I'm hoping that two civs will get Monarchy before the next 40 turns (40T :) ), and we collect it that way. Hopefully we'll have a Great Leader to build the Hanging Gardens. But back on subject, I agree with switching to Engineering.

Whoa.... Got confusing along their....

I say we just let the AI do everything for us. With a 40 turn research rate and 16 other civs what is the chance of us getting a tech before another AI?

FortyJ
Nov 11, 2002, 04:22 PM
With all civs at the same level, not much. However, several civs are behind us now in tech, and only a half-dozen or so are even with us. Chances are they will pursue Monarchy or Republic and eventually go after Feudalism and Chivalry. We actually do have a good opportunity here to get a tech before any of the AI even at our abyssmal 40 turn rate.

We should switch immediately to Engineering before we waste even 1 beaker on a tech that the other AIs will certainly beat us to.

I didn't know that we could switch to engeenering ((didn't even to think about it), but if I did I probley wouldn't have done anything anywar, because of the major monarcy vs lit debate that happened.
