Good day gentlemen and congratulations to both on such a well fought campaign!
I am calling on you to see if I can be of any service. I notice that many of our great cities are without mayors. I will admit I am still a bit rough around the edges about our system of government but I think I have learned a great deal in my short time here. If I can be of assistance, please feel free to call on me.

@cyc, aren't you forgetting your dog? ok.....you don't need your dog.

Hey Donovan, how's it going?

Well, there are three mayor positions filled (Vallhalla, Bavaria and Morgana). (I know I can't officially appoint but, hey, might as well get the ball rolling).

The Cities of Kuhkaff, Tenochititlan, Tlaxcala, and Bremershaven are without Mayors, what one interests you the most?

Congratulations from the Cartographic Office! Bohemia is surely in good hands for the upcoming term.

As you know, as a member of the senate you have been granted city naming rights. Registration is not required, but will ensure that your city name is not bypassed even if you are not present at the turn chat. Please be sure to register your city name with our office (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34519).

Note: Plexus, I have received your city name and added it to the registry. Thanks for your prompt reply.

The new cities and captured cities are all working on temples. These are just placeholder builds I put in until instruction from Bohemia's Governor could be given. The majority would be better served with building spearmen first for local defense and MP and a temple after that.

I have posted the run off poll for the province border definition issue (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35818). The choice is now down to two of FortyJ's proposals: "Capitol Province" & "Strictly Geographic 2". Please vote now to define the shape of our nation and the size of our Senate!

Cyc
Nov 05, 2002, 08:24 PM
Governor of Bohemia, I'm not sure where the new polls are going to take us, or when (actually it looks like the Capital Province scheme is winning). But if it goes amiss, I would like to submit these entry items to the Governor's Office for review. I have listed only the first item to build in each city. Just a suggested way of getting us on track.

Kuhkaff - Spear, Valhalla - Settler, Bavaria - Sword, Morgana - Horseman, Bremershaven - Settler, Tlaxcala - Temple, Strider's Haven - Temple, The Barrow - Temple, Dacula - Settler, Penguin - Spear, Tenochtitlan - Settler, Octavinium - Temple

That's 4 Settlers, 4 Temples, 3 Spears, 1 Sword, and 1 Horse.
That should make the expansionists/culturalists happy. After these, I would lean heavily into Military units. Defensive for the East and Offensive for the west. Bavaria will need a Temple and Morgana will need to produce a Worker. Good luck!

Shaitan
Nov 06, 2002, 03:25 AM
Good suggestions, Cyc but I'd go 2 settlers and 5 spears right now. We still have many cities that are being undergarrisoned or garrisoned with swordsmen due to a lack of spears. Free up those offensive units with some quick spearman production.

Please have the temples changed to libraries unless there is a special reason for eliminating discontent in a city. Libraries are cheaper and produce more culture than temples.

FionnMcCumhall
Nov 06, 2002, 12:41 PM
We will keep to temples until we actually get Lit. Think of it as prebuilding them. Besides temples help with culture and will help with the unhappiness. But i await cultures take on this as well

Eklektikos
Nov 06, 2002, 02:46 PM
Could the governor please post at least a tentative set of build queues, so I can get an idea of how many city sites we will need to have decided on before the chat?

Padma
Nov 06, 2002, 02:52 PM
My thought as Culture Head (and with growing agreement in the relevant thread in the Citizens forum) is to replace the Temples with Libraries as soon as we get Lit. Libraries provide more culture than Temples, and are cheaper, so unless there are happiness issues, they are the way for us to go. :D

Build Queues

Bavaria - Swordsman, Heroic Epic?/Settler, Spearman
Valhalla - Settler, Swordsman, Settler
Teno - Temple, archer, settler
Octavium - temple, archer, worker
Morgana - Horseman, horesman, swordsman
Dacula - Temple,spearman, swordsman, barracks
Tlaxcala - Temple, spearman, barracks
Penquin - spearman, library, spearman, barracks
Kuhkaff - Spearman, Library, barracks
Bremershaven - Temple, settler, spearman, barracks
Strider's Haven - Temple, spearman, barracks
The Burrow - Temple, Spearman, Barracks

If we get a city from the aztecs in peace negotiations or continue taking them by force build spearman for defense.

Continue to build roads to connect the cities and micromanage the cities for growth purposes

FionnMcCumhall
Nov 06, 2002, 04:23 PM
they will i want to get reaction to the initial ones first and get moreimput into what else the cities should build aside from military units :)

Cyc
Nov 06, 2002, 06:42 PM
Well. my first response is put back in the 3 settlers. Not only will they help with needed expansion, but also keep the cities at a manageable pop level.

Shaitan
Nov 06, 2002, 06:50 PM
I agree with the settlers. We need a fair mix of 50% military (includes spears to go with settlers, spears to garrison existing cities and new horsemen), 25% expansion (settlers) and 25% culture.

I think that is the place to build it. We can have it done in 20 turns if we let Bavaria use the game tile currently being used by Morgana and then work an additional forest tile when Bavaria grows to size 5 in six turns.

Here is my suggestion for the build queues for the Provance of Bohemia. The list does not pertain to any particular city.

Temples (To solitify our borders and prevent any Culture flips)
Settlers
Horsemen (If any city is connected to horses)
Swordsmen (If any city is connected to Iron)

BTW. I know you may have already place them in your build queues, But this is something also to put in your mind :).

FortyJ
Nov 08, 2002, 02:59 PM
With all deference to CivGeneral, I would suggest building Libraries instead of Temples as they are cheaper for us and provide 50% more culture than temples.

Also, I would completely shut down all swordsmen production in favor of horsemen. We will be in the Age of Knights and our swordsmen will be outclassed soon enough. Once we are able, we shall want to upgrade these horsemen to knights so that we can mantain our military supremacy.

Edit: Changed text to "more culture than temples".

Just as long as there is a solid culture in the cities without culture, I am happy :).

We will be in the Age of Knights and our swordsmen will be outclassed soon enough. We are in the Middle ages already?!

I'd like at least one harbor post haste. Morgana is the best city for this production. This will open up trade routes with AI civs that have also built harbors. It will also help Morgana's growth which is currently stifled.

Part from the harbor we need to identify exactly how many spearmen we need to form city suppression...er...support. 2 spears per city. This will free up the swords that are currently doing garrison duty. We need to plan an additional spear for each settler planned. Horsemen are the offensive unit of choice for new construction.

Culture is important in the land bridge area and we need to consider rushing temples (not libraries) in those cities. This is also a concern to the far west where we are close to opposing borders.

I would like to see 50% unit construction, mixed to generate an effective horse assault force with spear backup within 20 turns and all cities having 2 spear backup. Another 25% should be cultural buildings including the possibly rushed temples and as many libraries as could be fit in. The last 25% would be the harbor and some marketplaces in large growth cities plus settlers.

I must admit that I am not totally versed with which structures may be rushed, if any, and under what circumstances. I've tried to think how we could rush a Library, but it seems like you may be correct. ;)

The poll to switch to Monarchy in the upcoming chat is overwhelmingly in favor. LINK (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37117). All Leaders and citizens should make plans with the knowledge that we will be entering anarchy en route to Monarchy during the next chat.
