View Full Version : Baba Yetu must live on.

Even if it's not the title song, even if it's just played in the credits or something this song absolutely needs to come back. Anyone who has played Civ will immediately associate this song with the series, and it's beautiful.

I hope they bring it back, because the opening theme for :bts: is terrible! (I know you can change it)

It's time for something new. Baba Yetu was cool, but I heard it enoigh the last years.

I probably wouldn't make Baba Yetu the theme again, even though it's the greatest theme ever, but I anyhow think that Firaxis should ask Christopher Tin to compose the theme for CivV. Baba Yetu could still be played over the closing credits, like Tamed suggested.

Definitely, they should have whatever new title music they want, but we should still be able to change it back to Baba Yetu.

I hope they bring a new main menu theme, but Baba Yetu could be part of the Ancient era soundtrack.

No, it couldn't. It would remind everybody on CIV.

But i hope, they'll take something which has also a good meaning :).

Definitely needs to come back. Not as the main theme though, I'd like to hear something new there.

Don't wanna hear it in a new game.

I want to hear it again, but not as the main theme. Maybe in the closing credits like someone suggested, or somewhere else.

They should definitely get Christopher Tin to make a new theme. Baba Yetu was excellent but it's time for something new.

As the diplomatic sound for Shaka Zulu it would be great, just the theme from Civ 2 used for the Aztecs in Civ 4

Baba Yetu is one of the greatest songs ever composed IMO.

They can't rehash Baba Yetu. It's a whole new game, with many changes. Using the same music again wouldn't fit in with the rest of the game. But it leaves them in quite a conundrum. Whatever they do is almost certainly going to be not as good, and then people will complain about it not being as good, which is a tad unfair.

You know, most people don't associate it with Civilization. Most people who have heard it probably associate it with The Lion King 2 because they stupidly bought the DVD for one of their kids who watched it over and over and OVER again.

i really like Baba yetu (and the full album). But by choosing Baba Yetu again we would lose the oportunity of hearing a new song, maybe even better, hopefully from Tin. But there could be an option for choosing the theme (Civ5 - Civ4updated)

What i would like not to change is the world view, updated of course...

Not the main theme, but one of the gameplay themes, maybe.

I'd prefer that they had new music composed. I'm sure Firaxis will get it right.

Babu Yetu can be used in the game somewhere and that would be cool. Just not as the main theme.

I am curious if they are going to do voices for the tech advances again. I'd love to hear Leonard Nemoy do it but I am sure that's very unlikely as they seem to have come to a parting of the ways.

I am fine as long as Baba Yetu in the game somewere.

So it seems like the general consensus is that we want Baba Yetu back but not as the title screen. More people seem to want it as credits or a diplo theme than a main theme, which is great. The song itself seems loved enough to merit the idea of living on.

You need it as one of the African themes, as it's the Lord's Prayer in Swahili :)

I agree. If they could figure out a way to "sneak" it in, then that would be epic... the diplomacy screen for an African civ, perhaps...?

Yes. Civ IV opening theme was great. W'll surely have a new remixed version.

Nothing wrong with Baba Yetu but.... I've probably listened to that song more than any other since Civ4 was released... I'm ready for something new.

I vote for Baba Yetu feat. 50 Cent [TEPR Remix].

Realistically though BY would probably get buried in the credits somewhere. That Lebanese Arabic love song about a woman - well I don't know about that.

Agreed. I changed my opening screen to the classic Civ IV just so I can hear Baba Yetu when I start the game.
