what are firaxis thinking? This netcode is utter sh*t.

patched, 70ms ping to my partner, ADSL, 2800mhz host.
optimal you would think but it was so laggy on all modes, hardly believable firaxis released this.

if you played the beta/alpha whatever donīt expect a working MP. They finalized it but the crappy netcode is still there

I did not want to believe all previous posts about bad MP and the ingame madness but after trying myself iīm really sad.

Just how far away do you and you friend live from each other? I have a DSL modem and when I play MP against someone else in the US or Canada, with a good to ok ping, its fine. The fact that your Friend has an adsl might mean something, ADSL is usually only needed in very, er, out there places. Further more, sometimes My DSL modem will just have a 'shaky' day. And in Civiii MP and other MP's it will freeze constantly, kind of choke, then go to normal, then choke etc. etc. That create's a lag.
Did you include the computer player (AI) in these games?

Also, you didnt mention your ping, that I could see.

I've played a few successful games with one other person with about a 150ms ping. They were a touch laggy at times but were quite playable. Unless you're talking about big MP games, perhaps there's another problem.

What makes you think Firaxis released it? Consider the possibility that Infogrames released it against Firaxis' wishes. It is obvious to anyone that it wasn't quite ready. Why would Firaxis wish it to be released (here's a hint for you, programmers want as much time as possible to do a job right)?

Firaxis choose to go with Infogrames....so ultimately it is their fault because of who they picked to distribute the game.

And what is wrong with 70ms???? I can play FPS games fine at 150 and below!

You're complaining about lag? At least you can get into a multiplayer game without crashing.
